Chris and Allison are the most accommodating owners we’ve come across as full time travelers! Every day they are out and about checking in with anyone outside of their rig making sure that folks have just what they need inside the campground as well as tidbits about the best hidden gems near Terlingua. Our first time they had just opened and we managed to get the best site in the park (site #10) and they were still spreading gravel and adding fire rings so when we returned this February the park had a whole new fresh look with plants and benches and the community fire ring and designated dog park! Road Runner campground is just outside of Big Bend National Park and also close to Big Bend State park which has the most scenic drive in all of Texas! Five minutes down the road is the very much alive Terlingua ghost town where a stop at the Starlight Theater restaurant and the little cemetery are a must see! Thank you Chris and Allison for providing your guests with that welcome home feeling travellers crave!!!

There's a dog park area, games to play, group firepit area and live music at the campfire at certain times. The sites are fairly level and hookups are easy to use. The views around the campsite are open and beautiful, dark sky at night (unfortunately another camper had very bright lights that kind of ruined our night sky viewing). It's close to the entrance of the National Park and easy access to everything around you.Great spot, we'll definitely stay again!

We were in a travel trailer with full hookups, good water pressure and electric was consistent. The location is central and only a few miles from the park entrance. Perfect for day trips to all three park areas: the Rio Grande Village, the Chisos Basin, and the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive to the Castolon/Santa Elena Canyon. Live music was a extra special touch. We will be back!

We got settled into the site and the temps outside were way too hot for this northern girl who had just left snow behind. We were easily moved to a site with FHUs that made not only those two days/nights more enjoyable but decided we were enjoying the area and the owners along with the cg's hosts so much we stayed an extra night. Glad we did they had live entertainment that evening in an area with a fire ring and cacti tiki lighting. Chairs provided but we ended up standing for the night. Gave the singer our little lantern so that he could go a bit longer than normal. Chris was great at pointing out the stars and even offered us access to a special offer that sadly we couldn't spend the extra time to make that work out. Chris, Allison and Tracker have only owned this CG for a couple of years and are truly making it the nicest CGs in the area IMHO. Only about 5-10 mins to the entrance to Big Bend, about an hour over to BB State Park and 5 miles from Ghost town. Wished we had gone up to Ghost town prior to the night we were leaving as we didn't get a chance to walk around the cemetery at all, but the store there has lots of history as told by one of the employees we spoke with. We will only stay at this CG if we ever get back down the road to this area again.Tracker is nothing but a big overgrown wimp that I'm still LOL'ing overdidn't try to plug into internet or phone but was aware that cell service is spotty at best by owners when I called to book. No problem for us, we go camping to get away from the real world and enjoy the beauty of an area along with actual communications with those around us.

Pull through stone sites facing a smaller butte. We were challenged when leveling our trailer on the stones. The sunsets were beautiful. No amenities that we saw. Great location for the State and National parks (which are must sees). The owners are super nice and very accommodating. I would recommend.

Great dog park, all games in the community park are new, planting nice cactus gardens, and the musical entertainment was unbelievably great (Sarah Burton - she is on Spotify). I only wish there was a little more privacy between spots and that it was a little less dusty- but that may just come with the area. Big Bend is fabulous and in my opinion, a must go to National Park!

They have a great campfire/ picnic area, and we were graced with campfire singing and a fire show! Great! The only reason I didn’t give it a five-star was the price! Loved it.

Lovely sunrises. There is no office, but a white board with info as you drive in. There is also a number of someone to call if you have a question. I needed to know where to get propane (there is none at the RV site) and though they didn't answer, they called me back later saying that the gas station down the street sells it. The night before we left I got a text inviting us to the community fire pit for music and company which was nice. It is only about 15 min from the west entrance of Big Bend so it was a convient place to stay to visit the park. The town is tiny and the only grocery store is slightly bigger than a convience mart. Great cell service. The new plants they have put in will be lovely in about 4 years. Diesel is expensive there (over $4/gallon so fill up before you get there)

The park also offers WiFi, we didn’t use it so can’t comment on how effective it is.

We stayed in site 1, one of two end sites facing the mountain with fire pit, landscaping and a bench. We liked the location, dark skies, food options nearby. The camp wifi was so so - I used my ATT hotspot with good up/down to work and stream. We really enjoyed the area and our home base at RRT was exactly what we needed. We would definitely stay again in sites 10 or 1.

We also loved their story of how they came into owning the land and reshaping it into a place us travelers can all call "home" for a bit. It's apparent they're detail oriented with the way they've optimally oriented each site for privacy and optimal views of the mountains. Love the common areas with fire ring and cornhole! It sounds like they have some great plans for the place with laundry facility and site expansion. Thanks too for all the Big Bend sightseeing suggestions. Little did we know there was also another worthwhile gem....Big Bend Ranch State Park with Road Runner RV Park centrally located to both. And wow, what a place for stargazing!! This is a fairly new park, recently developed out of the dessert. The sites are good size and all on packed gravel. Most sites are full hookups with 30A and 50A service. The owners are very friendly and RVer's themselves. They have an ongoing plan for continued improvement to the Park. Overall very good experience with our stay.

Clean, wide spaces, well packed gravel sites and super friendly owners. All sites are pull-through 30/50amp F/HU with great water pressure. The RV park is on Texas 170 about a half mile from Texas 118. Technically it's in Study Butte (Terlingua Ghost Town is a few miles down the road). You are centrally located for access to both Big Bend National park to the east, and the State Park to the west. There's a well stocked liquor store that's walking distance from your RV site. The owners are actively working on amenity improvements to this new park. Better WiFi is in works (which we didn't use), my ATT hotspot was getting over 20mbps download. T-Mobile on the phones was spotty. They also have a bathroom and showers in the plans. Right now you must be self-sufficient. A dog park will be done within a week or so and they have a nice "group" fire pit area. One night they had an acoustic guitar performer. We had a great time here and would definitely book again if we're in the area.

We don't usually stay in RV Parks but were meeting some friends who travel with their dog. We couldn't take a chance on getting a site with electric hook-ups in the Big Bend Rio Grande Village CG so chose this place. What a great choice. We had a pull through site (I think they all are) with water, electricity, and sewer. Our friends were in the site next to us with the private fire pit. The sites were perfectly level and have a nice picnic table. Set up nicely so you get afternoon shade on the trailer door side (which is also the side with the awning). Nice view of the mountain and great view of the night sky (except the stupid liquor store across the road keeps their lights on all night!).The owners have been really busy planting desert trees and shrubs. There is a communal area with games and a firepit. I think they even have some concerts. Location is great for access to Big Bend NP and State Park. Also, right across from Far Flung Adventures if you want to book guides for kayaking and jeep tours (highly recommend a river trip). Close to Terlingua town.A bit of noise from the road as the weekend drew near but not really bad during the week.

I needed strong wifi for a class i was taking and despite being in the middle of the Chihuahuan desert, I was able to attend my virtual class meeting! I did ask ahead of time if that was ok since some parks restrict the kind of wifi usage, but they said it was cool. Gravel sites, spacious. Electric was a godsend as our AC never got turned off. Quiet at night. Star watching was great. Liquor store across the road didn't turn off their lights until late but we still got some great astrophotography in. As with most of the area, there is no shade, but we knew that. All in all a great stay! I'm guessing this place is fantastic in fall and winter :)

At first I it looks like just a gravel lot in the desert, but you soon realize it’s a great location that serves as a convenient base camp to both the National and state park as well as Terlingua. It’s well maintained with plenty of space between campers. It’s within easy walking distance to a couple restaurants, a liquor store, a honkey tonk bar, and a horse stable where you can book horse rides. It doesn’t have toilets or showers, but that’s what your camper is for. They do have the best WiFi I’ve ever used at any RV camp anywhere (note: the closer you are to the camp host on site 6 the stronger the signal). But the best part is gathering around the communal fire pit and chatting up your neighbors while watching the sun set over the mountains and the stars come out (bring your camera!). The owners are super nice and accommodating and have quite the inspirational story. Don’t forget to sign the water tank before you leave!P.S. Gave noise 4 out of 5 only because the honky tonk bar was rockin’. Otherwise very quiet.

Allison and Chris, the owners, are great people that went around and checked to make sure that everyone had fresh water as the temps dipped into the single digits and they had to turn off the water lines. Chris and Allison went around in their truck with a fresh water container and a pump and filled every RV up. They even made sure to catch us as we got back from dinner at dusk that evening. They just opened this park on Christmas Eve of 2020, and they were yet to get their wifi hookup, but you can tell they are vested in providing a great park and a great service. The RV park is ideally located in the Study Butte area with great access to Big Bend National Park, Terlingua Ghost Town, and Big Bend Ranch State Park. Entrances to each Park is within 10 minutes. They also have very convenient access to the Cottonwood Grocery, the Alon gas station, and Black Jack’s crossing. This is definitely a destination area, and we intend to make it back. The sites are all gravel, as it is the Chihuahuan desert. So it will be a little dusty, but that is part of the natural beauty of the area. DB’s rustic barbecue is right across the road and Starlight theatre, and Terlingua ghost town is about 5 miles to the west.

For The area, I think RoadRunner seemed to be one of the nicest. The park is somewhat small, but it's clean, well-maintained and the owners are really nice and responsive. We chose to Boondock because that is all that was left and our rig is fully self-sufficient with solar. Wifi is hard to come by in the area in general, but the park was about to install wifi when we left. We would have stayed longer, but we work remotely and couldn't risk wifi being spotty for more than a couple of days. They have plenty of water for boondocks and will help you fill up as needed. They also have a common area with games, a fireplace and grilling space. Couple of notes:- Wifi is really good at Espresso Y Poco Mas. The food is also excellent and I stayed for several hours working and they did not have any issue. Just keep buying stuff as a thank you.- Wifi is also accessible across the road at Canyon Brew Coffee, but they are not open very long. I was even able to access their internet on my phone from my RV.- Alpine is basically the closest town and it's well over an hour away. Gas up if you can there. I also think buying some groceries there might be a good idea. There is a really nice market (Cottonwood General Store), but it's pretty pricey. Good for a few things, but if you're buying everything there it could be expensive.

Chris and Allison went out of there way to make us feel at home and comfortable, especially since this was our very first destination with our trailer. Originally, we were going to have to move twice during our stay due to them not having one spot available for all 8 nights, but eventually it worked out so that we did not have to move at all. They had electric and sewer hook ups when we first got there, but with them being so new (just opened in December 2020), they were still working on the water hook ups, and ended up getting us hooked up to water about 3 days before leaving. Before the water hook ups were available, they drove around every single day and topped off everyone's fresh water tanks. That's customer service for you! They are working on getting fiber optics in the campground, and should have it very soon. If you need a good internet service while there, just ask them and they will tell you where and how to get it very easily and very close by. The grounds are gravel and each site is mostly level from what I could tell. We were 15 minutes from Big Bend Ranch State Park, 10 minutes from teh entrance to Big Bend NP, and 5 minutes from Terlingua Ghost Town. Perfect location for the area. Do not hesitate to stay here!Thank you again Chris and Allison for your hospitality, answering all our questions, and giving us some great local info on things around town. Cheers and good luck!
