We have stayed here twice now and absolutely love it. So nice to not be in an RV Park. Nothing to obscure the view of the mountains or the stars at night. Just perfect.

We went the wrong way. At the first fork (less than quarter of a.mile and just past some small adobe rentals) bear left. If you go right you will greatly struggle to turn around. We barely made it. Our fault for not checking ahead.

There is no front office or gate. You won't find this place on most RV sites or Google Maps. This is simply a 40 acre property in the desert that a few friends who enjoyed camping together purchased and were nice enough to share with the public.Ocotillo Vistas is located just south of the Terlingua ghost town and less than a mile to a couple of the town watering holes. Don't show up at night! The road to turn off the highway is not lit and has three different names depending on if you're looking at a map, street sign, or address. If you're driving a big Class A (like we are) or some expensive concrete queen, the dirt road down to the site is a little narrow and dicey.But...once you pull up under the roof on the hill and look out over the vast desert, your jaw will hit the floor! You can see storms forming over the Chisos Mountain Basin in Big Bend National Park. You can take a morning walk down the private road and find massive millipedes, speedy jack rabbits, and other critters. It is absolutely stunning and different. There is 3 covered spots and 1 uncovered spot. We were lucky enough to be the only ones there so it was very quiet and relaxing. They have very nice electrical hookups, clean rain water, dump ports, WiFi, and everything you would find at other RV parks. If you compare the exclusive experience you get at Ocotillo Vistas for $50/night vs a KOA or something, it isn't even fair! Ocotillo Vistas will blow your mind.

Lovely view of the Chisos mountains. Quiet, great desert walks and sunrises and sunsets. Right next to Ghost Town in Terlingua. Beware if you want to eat at Starlight or almost any other restaurants on the weekend its a 2-3 hour wait. Some of the smaller places out of Terlingua not so bad. And besides we hated to leave our campsite as it was so nice to eat at camp. Definitely will stay here if we come back!!!!!

Charming location near Big Bend NP and BigBend Ranch State Park. Full hook ups and a large awning for shade provide the perfect camping spot to explore these desert locations.
