This is a popular area for Texan tourists during the warmer months for river-related recreation. The towns in this area are small, but a walmart can be found 35 minutes away in Uvalde (I don't like them, personally, but they have RV toilet paper). That being said, we were here in the wintertime. Things were quiet, birds were abundant, and the location for the price could not be beat. REALLY. The monthly rate was $350 including electricity. We have called a lot of campgrounds all over Texas and no one else could compete with this - add that the park is on the river (albeit a short walk from your campsite, and not within view of it). The road is not high traffic, but if I stayed again, I would choose a campsite furthest from the road, as the vehicles that do go by are all heard. The sites are gravel and level. The water is on all winter, even if it freezes. Free, speedy, WiFi. 50 Amp if you need it. The office is onsite and there are always people there. They are willing to receive packages at their office for you. The rest of the "resort" is cabin/house rentals. They were very quiet while we were here, but we were off-season. The sites each have a picnic table and a good BBQ pit. Things are very clean, no on-site bathrooms, no on-site laundry. There is a nice laundromat in Leaky, TX, about 15 miles down the road. There is also a dollar general for essentials. The closest grocery store with produce is in Uvalde (H-E-B). Come onto Old Leaky road from the South to the park, or you will have to cross a road the river runs over (Low-water crossing?). We couldn't decide on 4 or 5 stars, so I went for 4, hubby thought 5 was warranted.
