The place was clean but the spots were way to close together! The staff was miserable. One person in our 14 day stay was pleasant. The dog parks are sharp gravel ..our dog actually cut their paw pad on it. For a one night stop over it’s fine but would not stay longer than that

It's a nice location to see both the Great Salt Lake and SLC. People have complained of tight spots- but there is plenty of room to get into your spot. We stayed in an executive site and it is huge - plenty of room for our 39 foot RV plus the truck plus a large patio area. It is true that our picnic table was close to our neighbors sewer line though. There are several parking spots around the interior perimeter of the park. The dog “park” is tiny -and the playground is small. We had a lot of trouble getting good wifi. The Wifi here is only good enough for email and such. Even with our cellular modem and mimo antenna we still got lousy wifi. Don’t plan a lot of streaming or zooming. We had several packages delivered and they were put with other packages in the large common room for us to pick up whenever- no checking that we picked up the ones meant for us. Nice walking or biking trail right next to the park.

(Cookies & dog treats) A big plus is the free dog washing station. The reasons this is not a 5 star: sites are a little narrow, some of the grassy sites are grass and weeds combined. No hot tub, no gym. Rate reflects veterans discount. (Veterans, not just active duty)

Even my kids, after a 3 week long road trip to 5 different national parks and a plethora of venues visited and outdoor activities experienced, listed their experience at Pony Express as their #1 best memory. Why am I writing such a rave review for an RV park? First of all, the entire staff is the friendliest, kindest, and most compassionate staff we have ever encountered at any form of lodging (RV resort, campground, hotel, inn, etc.) out of all of our travels. Before we even arrived, we had to adjust our schedule due to some hiccups in our plans and (simply over the phone) the staff did their best to accommodate us. When we arrived, the receptionists were very smiley, friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The entire park looked well kept, clean (especially the restrooms and showers compared to other RV parks), and well-run. No matter where you are placed, you are always within reasonable distance to a restroom/shower building. The pool area is clean; the tables, umbrellas, and chairs are all kept in good condition; the laundry room is literally the best we've ever seen (the best kept machines, the cleanest room, the most surfaces to fold clothes, has a coin machine that is well stocked, and has a detergent/dryer sheet machine for the users that forget to bring their own). The pool and laundry room are immediately next to several indoor bathrooms and showers and are very roomy and well-kept. The clubhouse has a really nice pool table and foosball table, plenty of comfortable seating, a big screen TV, books, games, puzzles, and a really nice common kitchen area for guests to use. They even have a great outdoor playground for the kids. Up to this point alone, we would have enthusiastically given Pony Express 5 stars. It was easily the best kept resort we have ever been to.The few reviewers that complained about the proximity of the RV sites to each neighbor need to understand that this is an RV resort in Salt Lake CITY, so the layout is meant to be maximized. That being said, the sites are NOT that crammed together as some reviews might give the impression about, and they are well maintained. In regards to the few who did not like the customer service, I simply cannot imagine who on the staff would not offer great customer service. Honestly, I could see them being a little removed if the customer comes across first as brusque, rude, or entitled, but I cannot imagine anything less than great customer service from the staff if you are just basically courteous at first. ON TOP OF EVERYTHING, we were juggling with some serious RV issues, and not only did Ruben have his staff help us out with no strings attached, but he went above and beyond to help us with alternative lodging that was amazing as we dealt with our misfortunes. We are very sensitive to imposing on other people and really try not to be an inconvenience to anyone, but the ENTIRE STAFF went out of their way to make us feel cared for. To emphasize this point, we got to know so many of them and are now blessed to call them friends. Shout out to Ruben, Christine, Ric, Suzie, Patricia, Barry, Jen, Emily, and Jimbo for your grace and kindness. To the rest of the staff that we did not have the pleasure to get to know personally, thank you for making this RV resort an awesome place to stay! Now, if you are traveling and simply need lodging, not an RV site, their chalets are REALLY NICE! They have two bedrooms, a bathroom, a full kitchen, and a living room with great central AC . . . all for a VERY reasonable price. I cannot praise this place enough and I know our family will always remember our stay there. Please, do yourself a favor and take some time to stay here if you are passing anywhere through Salt Lake City. I sincerely believe you will have a GREAT time here however long your stay. We even met several long-term guests on site (we're talking many months up to a couple of years), and ALL of them were very happy with their time at Pony Express RV Park. YOU WILL BE, TOO!

Who is drinking in the bathroom?? Our reception was horrible for ATT, Verizon and Sprint. You could check email, but not much else. Due to Covid, the office is closed for the most part, and picking up packages was difficult. It's very close to the highway, but surprisingly little highway noise for us (though we were literally the furthest away from the highway as far as spots go). No problems with the staff or neighbors, and easy access to groceries and stores.

I was there on a solo trip, and when I arrived Christmas Eve, the front desk seemed annoyed when arrived around 4pm. Not welcoming at all. The campground is VERY tight. Just barely enough room to put my pop outs out. Forget the awning, no way. During my stay I was confronted by a staff member in a golf cart. He told me I was parking my truck too close to my neighbors and I needed to park closer to my trailer, even though I was parked well within the boundaries my parking space (see pic). He told me I was banging into the neighbors trailer when exiting my passenger door. I told him I was there alone and nobody was entering/exiting my passenger door, so it was impossible for that to happen. I would NEVER let that happen. I also told him that I couldn't park any closer to my trailer because I was a double leg amputee and I needed to be able to open my door enough to get in and out of my truck. He didn't even listen to me when I tried explaining that, he didn't even acknowledge that fact. For the majority of my trip, I was away from the RV park, just there to sleep at night. I was also confronted by one of the staff members about why I was coming in late every night (between 10-11 pm). Really??? None of their business. They are very condescending when they talk to you. Like I was some kind of trouble maker. ☹️ It was very upsetting. The remainder of my stay I felt like I was walking on egg shells every time I was at the park. It put a real damper on the rest of my stay. I was planning to stay longer, but decided to go somewhere else, I just felt uncomfortable there. I do a lot of camping and I visit lots of RV parks. I can deal with cramped campgrounds, but I expect to be treated like a customer, not an imposter. As I said, customer service is always #1. I'm giving this place 2 stars because it was clean and conveniently located. I will not stay here ever again or recommend it to my other RV buddies.

After contacting support, they even stated dont bother with paying for additional speed of Im having issues with standard. I am 4 spots from the camps wifi repeaters and only can get -74 dMb which is almost horrible. There was no assistance in pulling up to the site number. The construction mentioned in a previous review was noticeable, but while we were there, it only posed an issue when heading north (or coming back to the rv park *from* the north)--while downtown SLC and most places we visited were south of this park.Bathrooms were great. Very clean. *Excellent* bike path goes right by the resort. Freeway noise provided perfect white noise blanket so other sounds are muffled.

After checking in, we headed for a highly rated Mexican restaurant about a mile away, but it took us 15 minutes to get there and more to get home because of many limited access roads and construction detours. The "right" way involved an unpaved alley next to the highway. There is an enormous amount of construction going on, including terracing the mountains for housing. The Good: The RV park itself is quite nice. I was greeted by a friendly woman in the office and we received complimentary cookies that were tasty. The park as a whole is tidy, well maintained, felt safe, etc. There is a walking path, but it is littered as is the river it borders. Many people ride bikes or walk on that path, so it felt safe, but it's not a scenic as I expected. The park had a giant chess board, and we saw kids enjoying that. The wifi was fine and the cable tv was as expected. The laundry facilities looked good (we didn't use them) and the showers and bathrooms were individual rooms and kept clean.I would stay here again in a pinch, but I would make sure I didn't have to come and go much. I assume the construction will abate some over the next year or so, at which point the experience could be totally different.

We thought it would be only a few days but it took forever to get done! Thankfully we stayed at Pony Express. The staff was very helpful and accommodating of our situation. We needed to take the RV in and leave it over night a couple of times and we were able to rent one of Pony Express's Chalets for those nights. The Chalets are very nice and well equipped. We left for Thanksgiving then came back to get repairs finished when the correct parts finally came in. When we returned we moved to a slightly narrower site but saved a few buck each night. I really couldn't notice a difference but I like saving money. They take Enjoy America and Good Sam. Nice long paved sites-grass, picnic table, good water pressure and wifi. The only drawback is that this park is near oil refineries and it can smell sometimes. I drove by the KOA just incase we decided to move closer to downtown but it was in a bad neighborhood. I will stay here next time we are passing through. As a side note: Salt Lake City has and awesome maker space called MakeSaltLake if you are ever here for an extended time. I was able to make all my Christmas presents there, while waiting for to get back on the road!

Each site has a picnic table, small grassy spot, and a tree. The main downside is that the sites (at least the one we were in) were very tight. In fact, I ripped my jeans on the RV slide next to our truck as I walked to our driver side door. We found it strange that despite there being a lot of empty sites, we were given a spot right next to a parked rig and then another RV was parked next to us.The upsides of the place are: the public bathrooms and showers were very clean, there are two small fenced in areas for dogs to be off-leash, and the Jordan River Greenway is right behind the RV park. It’s also ~10 miles from downtown SLC. Highway noises can be heard from the park since it’s located right next to I-215. But we didn’t find it to be disturbing. The RV park did have nice views of snowcapped mountains even though it’s located in an industrial neighborhood.Weekday prices were $47.09 and weekend prices increased to $53.81, after taxes.

This is a well cared for RV park. Neighbors are close but sites are nice. Location is a little strange. The park is located in an industrial area behind and RV dealer. The park location does afford great views of the mountains, easy access to a bicycle trail and shopping minutes away. The laundry facility was spotless and new equipment. $2.00 for wash $1.75 for dry. WiFi worked ok but became slower with more weekend arrivals. They have some cabin options and even a vintage Airstream that you can rent. Staff at the park did a very good job. There is some highway noise.

There were no loud campers but situated a bit close to the freeway for our taste.Guessing on the cell service but it was not a problem.

  • Surprisingly nice for an "urban" campground

There were a couple of lower priced state parks, but they charged about $35 for full-hookup and were further out from the city. One caution is that their website doesn't necessarily let you know the size limitations of their sites. And they charge according to the size and location of the sites. The least expensive sites "standard back-in sites" only accommodate Class B or Class C RVs and the next level up "deluxe" sites also seemed narrow. Our site was a "premium site" had a grassy area and decent spacing for a private park. The campground is immaculately kept with concrete pads with picnic tables, free cable, restrooms, showers, a clubhouse, a heated pool (closed when we were there), a laundry room and a small playground. There is a security fence, and each guest receives their own code to access the gate. The location is about ten minutes from downtown. It's in an industrial area, and one side has a view of an oil refinery just in front of some mountains. The other mountain views are quite scenic. The other down side is that it's right by the highway, and does get some highway noise, especially on the east side of the campground, but we didn't hear anything while inside our RV.There is a very nice bike/walking trail by a river just outside a small gate in the front of the campground, great for walking doggies. Campsites on the very front "deluxe plus sites" and "premium sites" face the bike trail with mountains in the background, although B-21 has a restroom building in front of it. Overall, a nice campground considering that it's in the city.

  • This is a well maintained park, clean washrooms/showers and only about 15 minute drive to Salt Lake City centre.

Staff are very helpful and freely answer all your questions. Site has a swimming pool (closed when we were there) and play ground equipment for those with children. Dog run for pets. Paved interior roads and cement pads. Park is located next to city bike/walking path with direct access. Park has an excellent club house with small library, full size pool table and a kitchen which would be ideal if traveling in a large group. Grocery shopping is only a couple miles away and a fifteen minute drive to Temple Square. Park is a bit pricey but if you want to be close to the downtown core, this could be the place for you.
