The owners and staff are super friendly and helpful. They believe that experience is everything so the sites are large, far apart, and have amazing views. The bathrooms, with both indoor and outdoor showers, are so nice we never showered in our RV while there. The amenities they provide add that extra something special. We enjoyed a propane “firepit” at our site in the evenings, appreciated the lack of night lights while gazing at the stars at night, and took advantage of the ROXOR ATV that they rent out. Even if you don’t rent from them, they will give you suggestions on great day trips to take your ATVs. We saw a slot canyon, petroglyphs and dinosaur footprints. We actually ran into the owners (Rick and Meryl) at the slot canyon and had a wonderful chat with them. They have social hour on Thursdays. We celebrated Cinco de Mayo with margaritas, hot dogs, chips, and cookies. They were totally cool with us bringing a cake to celebrate my husband’s birthday. They are very agreeable and laid back. We had to leave a car for three days when we camped at Zion, and even though we were no longer booked with them, they were perfectly amenable to let us leave it there. The word is out about how great they are so book early!! I booked this site in September for a May stay.

Dark Sky is an awesome campground! It is beautiful, the amenities are well kept, and the customer service is wonderful! It is located near many stunning places to explore such as Zion, Bryce Canyon, Grand Staircase Escalante, various slot canyons, and Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. We will definitely be back!

The campground is minutes away from Kanab yet you felt far from civilization. The bathroom/shower suites were spotlessly clean and the heated floor was wonderful. The sites are generously spaced and had a nice view of the red hills and the sage covered land. They had a nice dog park for your pets, a covered seating area for campers to gather and meet other vacationers.

Ended up staying for 10 days! We decided too look come back to Kanab early spring - drawn back by the beauty of the area but also to stay at Dark Sky again! Once again we extended our stay from the planned 4 nights to 6 and wish it could be longer!Anyone who says another campground has the best bathrooms has not seen Dark Sky’s bath suites with A/C, heated floors, shampoo and body wash provided and indoor and outdoor showers with complete privacy surrounded by incredible views of the bluffs. The owners are incredibly accommodating and have thought of everything to make your experience exactly what you want it to be. They have great cell and Wi-Fi coverage and we worked during both stays with no issues. There is so much to say but they have Ebikes, Jeeps, propane fire pits for rent, sandpit and trails for kids, dog park, an inviting common area with games, hot chocolate, ice cream, beer, water, maps, fire pits and more! Are definitely coming back!!

These guys go the extra mile and provide you with a gas fire pit to enjoy without the hassle of building a wood fire or pulling out your own fire pit. The social area is just so well designed and the little snack shack well supplied with ice cream, treats, coffee etc all for a recommended donation. Then after a long drive and not so luxurious bathroom experiences, a visit to their bathroom suites is just delightful, with an indoor / outdoor shower, heated floors, I didn't want to leave the bathroom. The owners are all so friendly and the location is close to all things to see in the area. Next time we will stay for two weeks.

I won’t go on and on, as there are plenty of reviews that cover the details. But I’ll say: believe them!A quick note that threw me off—one review showed $2 as the price and I think that was the price for propane, not the nightly fee, which for us in Sept 2021 was $65.

I've already passed along a recommendation to several folks on the road right now. This campground is unique in it's layout, location, amenities and overall experience. You're in the desert with space around you. The sites are easy, level pull thoroughs (with tow, we are over 50' and had ample space). The WiFi is fabulous. The showers are amazing (even though we don't need, my husband couldn't resist the unique, large shower and declared it "better than most hotels he'd stayed in!" The skies are truly dark - saw the milky way for the first time in my life. The hosts are truly hosts. So many small things like notes on arrival and walking through the campground to give advice. (The advice about our trip to the North Rim made our trip exceptional.) It's really like staying at an outdoor 5-star hotel. I could go on and on - but one last note. I wish we had planned to stay longer - we'll be back. Dark Sky is like a wonderful community complete with a market on Saturday. Can you tell we loved it?

Stayed here in June 2021.I can't say enough good about these folks, the owners and the camp host were awesome and Britt, well darn it she helped me out of a pickle when travel plans changed and was just uber helpful. - Not one site here is a bad site - book inside loop without any worry about the neighbors - they are far away.- It's Kanab, it is hot and it is windy- Every site has a propane fire pit, table, shelter over table and a small table and stumps. I about fell over to see this much great stuff.- Every site is pull through and full hookup!- Propane refills (and tank rentals) available- Bike rentals available- Jeep rentals available- Terrace area where people would gather in the evenings and there are also social events held.- Super pet friendly and everyone was VERY responsible with their dogs. Fenced dog park are available.- Great scenery- The facilities for bathrooms and washing are better than mine at home! Seriously! Very clean, centrally located and well thought out. There are 2 bath/shower rooms and one strictly toilet room. 2 washers and 2 dryers - so if the park is full you may need to wait to use them.- I wasn't able to connect to wifi but they have it and honestly I didn't care (or want to) enough to bother asking for help.Hope that in the future the place is still just as nice (remember it is pretty much brand new) and that I get the chance to go back and stay longer and explore the area.

First, and probably most impressive, are the appropriately-named Bath Suites that make you feel like you've entered a spa with heated floors and the option to shower outdoors. Second, there are so many spaces sprinkled throughout that present new - and breathtaking - views of the area. Third, the owners are available for anything from advice about local hiking to information about how to get around if you didn't bring an extra vehicle. And, finally, the experience is simply perfectly quiet and serene.

We stayed here for 3 weeks and wish we could've stayed longer! First of all, the space is perfect. You don't feel cramped and the views are great. It's kid friendly, our family loved the stay. Bathrooms were awesome. Tons of stuff to do in the area. The owners are so friendly and helpful. You'll love this place!

The sites are spread out. The view of the red mesa to the north is beautiful, and you can see as far as the north rim of the Grand Canyon to the south. The park is quiet, with gorgeous night skies. Each site faces away from the road, and is like your own private patio including a cocktail table and firepit. We were greeted on our arrival by Jeff, who led us to our site and gave us great information about the area. They are very responsive to texts. We didn't know if our Jeep could make it through the sand at Peekaboo Canyon. Rick called to give us information and offered equipment. We didn't want to risk it, so he guided us to Dreamland Safari Tours, and followed up with us afterward to make sure our experience with them was great. Thanks Rick and family for everything!

Most of the RV sites are crescent-shaped pull-throughs on either side of the main road through the campground, so everyone has plenty of space. There is a separate smaller loop off the main one with small back-in sites for tents and Class B campers. The sites and the road are gravel and fairly level. Instead of a picnic table, each RV site has a small round patio table and two short upright logs with flat cut tops to serve as seats. There are also no typical fire rings, but you can rent a propane-powered fire cauldron (with its own propane tank) from the office. If you need a refill of your own propane tank, each site comes with a tag that you attach to your tank and then leave it next to the propane refill station, and they will deliver the tank back to your site. The office doesn’t have a store, but it does have a coffee bar and a covered patio area for outdoor gatherings. During our stay they hosted events on the patio like a hot chocolate bar and a small local farmer’s market. There’s no playground, but a short trail from the office take you to the Dig Pit, where campers can dig for hidden stars that can be traded in for prizes. We had plenty of places to walk the dogs, either along the loop or in the bush-filled fenced-in dog run. There’s one bathhouse with two nicely decorated bathrooms with showers. There’s a large outdoor sink for washing dishes or dogs, and the back of the building has an open-air laundry area. While the decor of the campground is “recycled rustic”, they make good use of technology: paying for laundry could be done via Venmo or PayPal, and we received alerts about cold weather and campground events via both email and text message. There are WiFi booster towers along the loop to ensure a strong signal throughout the campground: I didn’t use the campground WiFi but I did measure it with a speedtest and got 39Mbps down and 3Mpbs up, with a ping of 13. Cell service was great: I saw download speeds around 50Mbps down and 25Mbps up with my Verizon Jetpack hotspot and MIMO antenna, enough to stream TV with rare stutters. Meanwhile, my AT&T cellphone was getting 55Mbps down and 18Mbps up.Finally, they take their “Dark Sky” name seriously. There are no light poles in the campground, so it is very dark at night, allowing you to see thousands of stars when the moon isn’t out. The only potential negative to this campground is that there is no shade, which means no respite from the sun during the summer, but that’s not so different from a lot of campgrounds in Utah.

This family owned start-up has been very well laid out. Resisting the temptation to cram as many sites as the can, on their property, the owners instead chose to sacrifice number of sites ($$) for much more space giving the campground a state park feel and camping guests open space luxury. Each site has splendid views of red cliff and desert expanse with terrific sunrise/sunset views. The campground adheres to a “dark sky” policy – discouraging those gaudy outdoor awning lights – which provides amazing stargazing. Most site are pull-through gravel reasonably level. Hookups are centrally located on the “street side” so campers are not facing the road. While there are only two bathrooms available (a shortcoming, probably could use two more) the bathrooms are the most beautifully thought out “suites”. Clearly, the Bathrooms are truly the best we have come across in our almost 3 years of full-time RVing. Luxury quality and cleanliness – each bath even has a glass door leading to a private bath patio for that outdoor shower experience. Since this is a new campground, GPS may not show the location correctly, in addition there is presently no signage on HWY 89 to know where exactly to turn. Text or phone the owners for more accurate navigation. Propane sold on site at a very competitive price – probably best for this area. Owners will come out and great you on arrival and offer any assistance you might need as well as good advice for sightseeing the area. Very solid fast WiFi (free) and we got about 14 stations OTA, good Verizon cell. We like to stay a new RV parks to show some support for the start-up business. These folks have done a great job so far, provide outstanding friendly service and I expect they will continue to improve over time.

I was able to reserve a site and check in online as easy as could be. We pulled in to our site and fell asleep. In the morning we were able to check out the campsites. It is beautiful. The RVs are separated nicely with full hook ups. The tent sites had nice gravel pads. WiFi is everywhere. And the bathrooms are amazing!! The only slightly negative thing is there are only 2 toilets. (Located in the wonderful bathrooms) so if you just need to use the toilet you have to wait. And there is no seating to wait. Other than that a beautiful Oasis tailored to weary traveler! Also best sunrise ever!

For us we were not looking for the "scenic camp" experience, but we were traveling through and needed a good overnight and this is where Dark Sky shines. If you are looking for the stream side wooded camp experience this is not the place. The bathrooms are AMAZING! Simply beautiful and functional! New laundry etc...like I said...the perfect stopover. The owners recommended the restaurant Sego in town and we agree it is one of the best culinary gems of the desert! This is the best base camp in the region if you have transportation to get around.
