This campground is so well run and really pretty. We dont normally stay in tight commercial sites, so I was so excited to have Will there at check in. He led us to the site and walked us through the back-in (it was tight!). He was very helpful with information on the area, and we had some technical problems with our RV, and Will gave us great advice on how/where to get assistance. What a great start to our stay!Sites: The sites are packed in BUT there is typically a palm tree or some vegetation between most of them - just enough to provide a little privacy. Our site was on the water so it was nice to have the bay as a back view. Each sight has a concrete pad with table.Grounds: Considering the limited space, this place is incredibly beautiful. Very clean, full of vegetation. The location is a 20-30 minute bike ride to Mallory Square - there is a wide bike path for most of the ride.Amenities: Heated salt water pool with adult activities (water aerobics in the AM). Tiki bar, adorable restaurant area (palm trees & tables) with a nice stationary food truck (breakfast and lunch). Pool table, foosball, TVs, gift shop. Cable. Abundant bathhouses with great showers and tons of laundry stations. Good wifi. 3 bars on Verizon with no wifi. Cons: Roosters start crowing at 6 AM (they are all over KW so you cant blame the campground). Expensive but considering the amenities/location/covid we felt like it was a good value. After years of camping as far away from people as possible, I now realize the value of these high end commercial campgrounds. Really fun with a great vibe.

Boyd's is at Mile Marker 5 which puts you about 3 miles from the heart of Old Town KW/Duval Street. (Note: Leo's Campground is a couple blocks south but has no swimming pool, restrooms nor showers). Electric bikes got us into Old Town to explore, it's flat ground here; Uber for dinner at $22/each way or drive and hope for a parking spot. KW is a small, touristy town and your tow vehicle can feel enormous at times. You can rent golf cart/scooter at office. I had requested a water site, and disappointed when there was not one available, however, I was ultimately pleased with the inland site assigned to us. Why? Water sites can get breezy/gusty which infringes on sitting outdoors in the evenings. Most water sites are for smaller rigs (tents, B Vans, 25' and under) and our Airstream is 31' 3". Note, sites that face Maloney Ave. are less desirable, set up for MoHos. Sites are close but roomier than awning to awning; size acceptable for an urban campground.Connectivity, great. Grounds, restrooms, pool exceptionally clean. Onsite store for RV needs plus Boyd's wear. Staff welcoming and knowledgable about the Keys, feel like family. Very popular resort, book early. CONS: Noise, 3 stars. Not Boyd's fault, but you are less than a mile from the U.S. Naval Air Station. When at the resort napping or reading, the F16-18 are obnoxiously loud, sometimes 25-30 times a day; other days not one flight. We became somewhat 'used' to the noise, but be prepared or go off exploring and it won't be a big problem. BTW, thank you to our military! Overhead about a dozen times a day are the commercial flights in/out of KW. No problem. Our $119/night rate is based on a monthly basis and this IS the place to stay a month so you can to really get into the island vibe, tour Hemingway House, sail, floatplane or boat to Dry Tortuga National Park, great restaurants, bars, theater, etc. To wrap up, I LOVE THE ROOSTERS/CHICKENS which reside all over KW and Boyd's. Yes, they do make noise in the morning and now that we're gone, I miss them.

From the moment of my arrival I was greeted by the friendly staff who helped me get registered, lead me to my site and help me get my RV parked and set up.The facilities including bathrooms and showers are clean and the staff is careful to be following COVID protocols to keep you safe. The grounds are very well kept with clean sites, nice plantings and good hookups. The one issue I did have was with cable, which did not work well, but that was not a critical issue for me. I was particularly pleased with the WiFi access - I was working remotely during my trip and had no problem using the strong WiFi signal to hook up to my companies VPN and work without issues on my laptop, including being on video calls. Thanks to all the staff at Boyds for making my experience in Key West fantastic!

I was concerned with the cost, but learned that if we wanted to be close to Key West and on the water, this is what is costs. After that, I thoroughly enjoyed the campground. The heated pool is the best when the temps get down into the lower 70's. The wireless network was the best we've experienced. The onsite food truck, Delunas Cafe, is amazing. It serves breakfast and lunch, delivers, and has the best conch fritters in Key West. The office store is fully stocked with local souvenirs, RV needs, and key lime pie. There are several local restaurants and shops within 3 blocks including an amazing fish market right across the street. And, it's only a 15 minute drive or 30 minute bike ride into old town Key West. In addition to all of this, the water sites are amazing with concrete pads, shrub barriers between sites, and full on views of the bay.

Boyd’s is pretty famous, and they had availability for our dates. Because this was our kickoff we wanted to splurge on a waterfront site, but there are other sites that are much less expensive. It also helps to go in the off season. When we pulled up to Boyd’s I was sort of surprised it was not in a great neighborhood. Most of Key West isn’t, but this was a combo of warehouse district and really old mobile homes that felt a little uncomfortable until we actually got in the gates. Once inside, the site was great. There was also a guard at the front entrance all night. Our check in was quick and smooth, and our site was waterfront as promised. We had many chickens around our site as we pulled in as well as innumerable iguanas! Most of the rigs at Boyd’s are either gigantic or tents, so our airstream seemed really tiny compared to some of our neighbors!Boyd’s has a marina, a kayak slip, laundry, a heated pool, and bathrooms on site. Our site had full hookups, and we had no issues. For the whole time we were there, we only had one neighbor so there was space around us. I can imagine things don’t feel quite so spacious during season. We had a great time at Boyd’s--feeding the chickens and iguanas was a big hit--but there is so much to do in Key West that we didn’t spend most of our time there. It was very quiet at night for sleeping! ourschoolhomeschool.com

This campground was selected months in advance, since we wanted a waterfront spot, and our plans were to spend much of our time in and around Key West. Per our plan, we did not stay at the campground throughout the day, but spent most of our time playing tourist in Key West. This was our basecamp; definitely would not stay here if hanging out all day. The spots are too small to enjoy. Although this campground is tight, especially when it filled up over Labor Day, it was quiet during our stay. The staff is friendly. In fact, they assisted me in finding a welding repair shop to repair my toad tow rig. Also, when we arrived late,10:30PM, someone was there to check us in and guide us to our spot. We did use the pool one late afternoon after the crowds were gone; was clean and a good way to cool off. We also enjoyed photographing the iguanas running around. The highlight for us each morning and evening was watching the sunrise and sunset; awesome color and views.

We liked that they had a boat dock on site but if we stayed here again we'd be pickier about our campsite if we're going to pay "premium" for water view. We have a 16' Airstream trailer and were right up against the docks / boat dock which was convenient for launching our kayak but it didn't really feel "waterfront." The campground was clean, lots of palm trees, but most sites don't have much shade. The bathrooms were clean and had big fans blowing for the hot summer heat. The pool and cabana area felt like a tropical oasis and we enjoyed the Jimmy Buffet tunes while we soaked in the water after the day's activities. Onsite there is a store with sundries and souvenirs. The pizza place Roostica down the road doesn't deliver but it's worth picking up and bringing back to camp - tasty! We brought our bikes and hauled them down to Key West to pedal around town which was easier than trying to drive/park and faster than walking.

Really grateful we were gone two of the days.It is crowded, noisy and the spots are so close its ridiculous. I would never stay here again unless we absolutely had to. Its worth staying at one of the state parks and driving into Key West for the day, although we still aren't sure what the draw is. We aren't much fans of Key West. Too many crazy people on scooters, tourists, and the lines to eat dinner at the restaurants are ridiculously long anyway. There are much better places to spend your time. The only plus was that we were able to do laundry since coi operated laundromats in the Keys are non existent.

After seeing Boyd’s on the travel channel we knew it was a must. It was our first RV stop in Key West and we splurged on a water front site (reserved 4 months in advance). Overall it was a nice place to stay and we enjoyed ourselves. It’s a high price to pay for close quarters and water front views.
