The sites are so big they accommodate a big rig with no problem. The sites are gravel but fairly level. They hav full hookups as well as picnic tables and fire pit. The park has showers and laundry but we didn’t need these but the area looked clean. After unhooking from our 5th wheel we went to dinner in Alamosa the downtown area has several restaurants and breweries. The park is only a few miles from The Great Sand Dune National Park. Check was online and we received emails and text about our reservation. Everything was very easy. We were able to get a Senior discount. Also there new sign was up. Definitely would stay here again.

The sites are level, clean, very very large, plenty of room for both travel trailer and truck. Each site has a picnic table. They are pet friendly, easy access from the highway, full sun (no trees to speak of), and all sand/gravel. We had no trouble at all with the water, sewer, or electricity working. Our rate of $46.12 included a Good Sam discount. We were very impressed that it appeared everyone cleaned up after their dogs, as they should be. That was so nice, as we've been in parks where this just wasn't the case and it's gross. I couldn't find an office or store, but there is a sign showing where the camp hosts park. All communication and payments are contactless. The laundry/bathhouse looked beautiful although we didn't use them. The only bad thing we experienced was a dog barking all night long the first night we were there. It was cool enough to have windows open, and it appeared that the dog was not on RV park property. We think it was a dog at the house adjacent to the property. Same dog barked part of the time at our second time to stay there on 6/07/21, but our windows were closed with A/C running that night, so we didn't hear it as bad.
Amazing!

The sites are all very big (pull through). The communication before was awesome - no physical check-in needed. The bathrooms/showers are private and huge! But best of all, the wifi actually works and is fast!! Also, an easy 15/20 min drive to the Dunes.

WiFi was strong, and the bath house is one of the best ever. Heated, individual bathrooms for exceptional privacy. Clean, gravel level pads which are VERY big. Aside for the WIND (thank you Momma Nature) this is an awesome camp ground. some road noise, but gets quiet during night.

It looks like a gravel parking lot right off of US-160. They’ve planted a few trees with the intention of creating some shade in a few years, but right now there is no shade whatsoever, and there is definitely road noise (less so at night but still there). On the flip side, the sites are spacious for a private campground. There’s plenty of room between sites, and they are long (over 100 feet). We saw some sites occupied with two campers front to back during our stay. And the lack of trees meant we had an fairly unimpeded view of the mountains surrounding the valley in all directions, including a partial view of Great Sand Dunes National Park and a great view of nearby Mt. Blanca. The nighttime view of the sky was equally impressive: because the campground is several miles east of Alamosa, we had a great view for stargazing, and could even see hints of the Milky Way on very clear nights. We had no issues with our hookups, which is good because the management presence on the campground is minimal. There’s a campground host, and a camper that seemed to sell ice and firewood, but no actual office. But the trees were being watered regularly, and the trash cans at the end of each site were emptied regularly. Prior to our arrival, we were emailed our site number and told to simply pull into the site: I don’t know if that’s something they've always done or a process they implemented with COVID-19. Cell service was decent: I got 14Mbps down and 61Mbps up with my Verizon hotspot with MIMO antenna, enough for streaming TV though with occasional stutters, and 25Mbps down and 1.4BMps up with my AT&T phone. Near the end of our week-long stay, I was experiencing serious lag starting around the mid-to-later afternoon which made working difficult using either service; not sure why (I didn’t use the campground WiFi - which my wife said was decent - just because of the nature of my work). In short, they named this campground well. It’s a decent (if maybe overpriced) “base camp” for exploring (and viewing the region), but you’re not coming to this campground for the campground itself.

Base Camp Family Campground is one of the best campgrounds we have stayed at. It is fairly new, so everything is updated. Our wifi was stellar, the sites are long and spacious, the camp host was warm and welcoming, and Mitch, the owner, was incredibly accommodating when our plans shifted. We ended up staying an extra week because the campground was so nice for us. This is the only campground we have been to where the bathrooms are like the bathrooms in a home - individual and private. If you don't want to shower while hearing your neighbor poop, fear no more! The site we had was fairly level, we had no problem navigating to it (all of the sites are pull throughs), and it was easy to connect to hook ups. The views of the mountains are phenomenal, and it is really easy and direct to get into town. The only downsides are that there is only one washer and dryer for the whole camp (I went in to do laundry at 8am thinking I would be safe and someone already had the washer running! Who is up that early??) and if anything is running water while you are trying to take a shower, it will be lukewarm at best with a trickle of water. But if you have a shower in your RV, there really is no reason to not love Base Camp.

This is usually never a problem, but lately the networks seem to be super bogged down so we needed to find a place we weren't fighting 1 million other tourists for connectivity. Fortunately, the wifi is the BEST we've ever experienced at an RV park. I don't usually ever even try to connect to an RV parks wifi, but this one, this one actually worked and worked well! The spots are GIANT. I was shocked at all of the space we had in our spot. The numbers a lit up so you can see which spot is yours at night. Great touch! The park was clean, SUPER well managed, and we just had a great experience. If we are ever in the Alamosa area again, we will definitely stop for a few days. Bonus, it's right next to a Verizon tower, so even if you don't use the park wifi, you'll be connected if you have Verizon.
