But with flip flops the hot showers and warm bathrooms served their purpose in the bitter cold winter. Just don’t expect a working lock on either of the Women’s shower doors. Flush toilet? - yesShowers? - yes, hotWhy did we stay? We visited Great Sand Dunes NP and had planned to stay at the dry campground called Zapata Campground. We had been having issues with our diesel heater and needed electricity to plug in our electric 120 heater. This RV park had all the creature comforts and a gas station. Buuuuutttt it was sketchy.

  • It worked well for us!

For what we were looking for, this RV park was perfect! The staff couldn’t have been more hospitable! Their own internet they share with guests is quite good as well. We have Verizon and had to use our Jetpack to watch football on our big screen. We were happy with this stop even though it’s certainly not a “resort”. It’s priced right!

There was a mix-up and they couldn't give us the site that we asked for so they stuck us in the first site closest to the gas pumps and propane tank, so it's pretty busy - no solitude. Also, what we thought was the first space, was not, because the 1st space is used for people dumping their sewer while we were there. Our neighbor was a nice disabled person, but a bit rough around the edges. That's how I'll describe this campground. Rough. This person was obsessed with marijuana. Hey, that's fine, but he took one look at us and thought we were 24/7 tokers. Not the case at all.Sites are gravel, somewhat level, and we didn't use the bathhouse. The owner or person working the front counter was friendly. Close to the Great Sand Dunes NP - 30 min. Alamosa is 23 min away. You're in the shadow of Mt. Blanca, a 14,345 ft mountain, so that's neat. You're about 45min from the Sand Dunes Swimming Pool (Hot Springs).

I don't know how you can even give this place 1 star? Maybe location can give it one star, it's close to the National Park and all. But the roaring highway and screaming train killed it for me. This place is sandwiched between a busy highway and a railroad. Instead of counting sheep your counting trains and semi trucks!! Been here for three night and got no sleep what so ever. Some one in the reviews said that it's a clean rv park! What! Sounds like that person had it confused with another park. This is what we saw at arrival. Dirty showers, nasty bathrooms, garbage cans over flowing. Not safe! a lot of people coming and going of the street at all hours of the night. I kept everything under lock and key. Left nothing out. So Rvers please be aware of this place and don't waste your time and money. Hope this helps. Reviews of this place are very misleading. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Would not stay here again

Have gas, propane, mini-grocery, showers, regular toilets, laundry, trees, full hookups year round. We stayed in 25 degree night and winds gusting to 50 mph. Small and about half are living there or seasonal, but great inexpensive place to stop before (or just after) Alamosa. Manager goes out of way to make sure you're comfy!
