Everything was pristine. The bathrooms, laundry, landscaping. I backed up to the river, opened my windows and drank in the view while I worked. It was the quietest campground I've stayed at and I appreciated it! Just down the road is the least expensive place I'd found to fill my fuel tank too! Don't miss taking in the Klamath River viewpoint 2 miles away while you're in the area.My verizon did not work well in this area (despite having 3 bars!) but this campground now has Starlink and it worked like a dream! Fastest internet I've had on the road post-covid.

The views are great when backed up against the water. Space is a little tight, tow vehicles are often parking on the grass or another empty spot. On the river, hookups are on the wrong side, which is somewhat annoying since that places the sewer (and anyone elses spillover) right in your path to walk up. That said, still an awesome place!

Check-in was fun with the sisters who run the front desk. If you have a dog, expect a mandatory dog meet-n-greet with these dog lovers! Overall, the park is well maintained. The pull-thrus are narrow making it difficult to stay off the nicely manicured lawn. My wife gave the laundry room a thumbs-up. The best part is the Klamath River running past the entire campground. There is a forested peninsula on the other side that was enshrouded in fog each morning. So beautiful. The docks had not been put out yet. There is a fish cleaning station by the office. Per current rules, you can wash your RV using environmentally friendly cleaning solutions. That was so welcome given a month's worth of bugs on the front of our trailer. There is a bit of road noise, but not much at night.

Even though they are no longer affiliated with RPI, Golden Bear honored the RPI discount for us - 50% off our third night. I believe they also offer veteran, Good Sam, etc. discounts. Friendly, easy check in. We had pre-paid for our site. When we arrived we needed to get some laundry done. Walked into the laundry room (three washers, three dryers) to find all BRAND NEW washers and dryers. $2 to wash, $1 to dry. After I dropped off the laundry ???? I walked over to the men’s room. Nice and clean, new flooring, paint, counters. It appears the new owners are investing in the property. There’s still some painting that needs to be done but you can tell there is pride of ownership. The Riverside FHU site on a level asphalt pad worked for us.

This is a fine RV park. No amenities besides a bathroom, with showers, that work great. 3 of us would shower at the same time and hot water never ran out.Beautiful scenery on the river. Sea Lions come up the river. Close enough drive to go to north or south to the Redwoods.

There is no cell signal to be had so our wifi routers didn't help at all. In the rec room, the internet is decent! While staying here we visited Fern Canyon and the Trees of Mystery. We would stay here again!

They invited us over and we joined each day to talk about whatever was on a mind! WiFi works great inside the rec-room if you need a strong signal to get work done! Not so much outside of the building, but that’s about par for the course at RV Parks.

If you need to shampoo your hair, I suggest filling your freshwater tank and turning on your pump.As for the view; incredible! But what really made our stay magical was the quality of people who were around us.We are new RVers (and have 2 toddlers) and our neighbours were quick to give us advice for everything and offered to watch our stuff if we wanted to leave our spot (we didn’t tow anything with our motorhome) so it felt like a very welcoming community. We will try to return in future summers, just to see the new friends we made there. The owners were also very friendly and gave us some boondocking advice for other areas.

As we found out there are many things to do and see in this area. Hiking trails, State and National Parks, shopping, dining are all near by. We managed to snag the last available river front site and it was worth every penny of the additional cost.At the time of our visit in mid July, we were greeted by Linda, a very friendly and accommodating park manager, who made us feel very welcome, shared some history of the park and area and pointing out a few fine places to dine and explore.Park was well maintained, showers very clean and grounds free of any litter. There is wi-fi, but we did not log in. Sites were close to each other, front forward and back in sites are somewhat tight to park in for larger rigs and pull through sites, although easier to park in, would not completely fit a larger rig and tow vehicle. Half of the rigs here were 40' and over, so the park is very capable of offering a perfect site for any size rig. As the park is right on Hwy 101, there is some road noise all day, but subsided quite a bit to nothing at night. We would only recommend securing a river front site, as the views are fabulous. Wildlife is abundant. During our short stay we saw bald eagles, osprey and river otters. The morning on the day we arrived, a black bear was spotted swimming from the park to the bank on the other side of the river. Pretty cool!

In error, when we arrived, I did a review and gave it only 4 stars based on first appearances – and, unknown to me, the park was not even open yet. I was wrong in doing a review before I spent any time here. There is so much more here than meets the eye and I hope everyone can come here and experience it. I could not ask for a better place or better people to end my trek across America with my husband.Although certainly not planned, Golden Bear RV Resort was the last “Big Hit” in our trip across America as we headed to Alaska. My husband and I logged all of our “Big Hits” in our travelogue / travel blog “High Tide and Green Grass.” All Rolling Stones fans will understand. Golden Bear had both – High Tide and Green Grass – and was absolutely the appropriate place to end our journey. I could not have asked for a better place to get unexpectedly delayed. The managers, Denny & Linda Mashore, were accommodating from our first phone call before they were even open, to my last day after selling my RV. On our way to Alaska, we were earlier than planned and called Golden Bear after April 1, 2019 to see if we could stay April 10-13th. While the park did not formally open until April 15th, Denny and Linda encouraged us to come along and we are glad we did.The park itself has abundant grass and beautiful views of the Klamath River. In the evening, if you are lucky, you will see a sea lion swimming upstream to feed on the salmon, a family of sea otters playing and diving in and out of the rocks on the shore, or a family of bears swimming and playing on the other side of the river. The park is right on highway 101, only minutes away from the strong tides of the rocky California Coast and the Coastal trails, as well as from the Redwood National Forest and Jedediah Smith State Park. It is also only 20-30 minutes away from Crescent City where you can get any supplies or services you need, especially if you end up having an extended stay. If you are a hiker, fisher, surfer, explorer, or wanderer, this is a place you will enjoy and feel welcome. You will have plenty to do, or you can choose to do nothing but enjoy the sound of the river or surf, and the majestic views.More practically, in addition to having spacious and abundant parking, the park has full hookups for water, sewer and electric. It also has a laundry room, bath house, and club house, all which we unexpectedly needed, so they were very welcome amenities. All facilities were very clean and well maintained – even before the park opening. They were spotless after people were in the resort. The park managers, Denny and Linda, are supportive, caring, accommodating, helpful, and treat you like family. They had no problem with me extending my stay or accommodating additional cars or family members. They supported me and helped me with anything I needed and I cannot thank them enough. In conjunction with their support and accommodation, they will give you the space you need as well. You can meet as many, or as few, people as you want at this park and it is a refreshing feeling to be able to be alone if needed. Their knowledge of the area and the people was invaluable to me, and their assistance with details of RV mechanics was priceless.Denny & Linda Mashore go above and beyond what any park managers need to do and they deserve to be recognized. If I could give this place more than five stars I would. I would not hesitate to recommend this place, this location, or these people, to anyone. Nor would any member of my family who visited during our stay. This was the final big hit and should be on anyone’s travel list.

Right off the 101 so there is a little traffic noise but you can still hear the surf pounding just down the river. 20 miles from big stores, easy access to the state and national parks. Lots of nearby hikes and outdoor things to see. Propane is also available close by. The main issue is the sites are not quite big rig friendly, the truck would not fit with trailer, even still hooked up. Luckily we went off season so there was plenty of extra parking for the truck and bonus vehicle. Reasonably easy to navigate, though a few of the corners can be a little tight when you're as long as we are. If we go back we will chose a back in site on the river. If warm enough we could probably fish from the back deck.
