pros: clean bathrooms & showers, right on the river, water spigots nearby, good laundry, convenient location to redwoods cons: tent sites are pretty close together with no privacy from your neighbors, had to drive through and park on grass at the site, okay service & pretty poor wifi = not great internet access

  • Riverfront views -- poor cell service -- lots of wildlife -- well taken care of park

We were able to work remotely during the week with our Verizon jetpack, but the cell service was very poor. If you work remotely, I would not recommend this campground. We drove over to the beach and were able to walk down and see a ton of seals swimming around. And we saw a black bear crossing the road in front of us on our way. Stopped by Elk crossing the road on the drive in. Wildlife! Loved it. 30 minutes to Crescent City - which was a nice visit. Wish we could have done Secret Beach or some more trails in Redwoods. It's a run down campground but VERY VERY well taken care of. 2 washers, 2 dryers. And they had a campfire by the river everynight, which was nice. Not much around for gas or groceries, so stock up before you arrive.

I wish they were a little more conscious of that and spread people out more since not many people where there.

Very well maintained rv park with full hookups and quiet at night. It’s beautifully nestled against the Klamath river with great views. Not a lot around and nearest full grocery store is in crescent city which is 30 minutes away so stock up. Great place to see redwood National Park and trees of mystery.

We RV camped here for five nights in April-2021. The location is perfect to see the Redwood National & State Parks. There are lots of hiking trails and scenic views close by. We drove 5 minutes to watch the sea lions and sea otters on the coast and 15 minutes to watch the whales migrating north. And the elk herds are remarkable in the meadows near here. The resort offers full hookups, pull thru sites, a shower house and laundry services. We did not use the showers but did look in and everything was super clean. The laundry has two washers and two dryers which is adequate for the size of the park. We did use the laundry facility. We use US Cellular and we had a strong cell signal while at the resort. WiFi at the resort is excellent too. The office staff are friendly and very helpful. The owners are hands on and working all the time. They keep a nice, well maintained RV park. The owner, Elmer even kept the fire pit going at night for anyone who wanted to sit at the group fire pit by the river. We definitely recommend Chinook RV Resort if you are passing through this area.

We enjoyed our brief stay at this clean and quiet RV park. Owner was super helpful and friendly, gave us information about local places to explore (Fern Canyon!) Sites are level, but not much shade. We were there in Oct 2020

The host, Don and Maria, were super helpful and so nice. They welcomed us at our site and talked to use before we left. They even gave our dog a treat for the ride. We did not use the restrooms but they appeared to be cleaning them once or twice a day. We did not get TV or wi-fi at all. This is a small campground right off of 101. Locally (2 miles away) you can see a great sunset off of Requa Road. You can also catch a good cell signal there as well. The Lady Bird Johnson Grove has a nice hiking trails, no dogs allowed. Don’t waste your time going to the Battery Point Lighthouse in Crescent City as you cannot get closer to the LH and there are some weirdos hanging out there. The Crescent City Harbor is a place to see some fishing boats and read about the seafood industry.

We only stopped for the night but the location was beautiful. Green grass throughout and river in front. Area has internet issues. Could get some data flow but was slow. Some noise from the highway but hardly concerning. Ammenities were clean and roomy. Staff were very friendly.

Our spot was grassy and double wide, with a full length view of river out the right side window. Weather was sunny and low 60s there during the day in late Feb, in the 40s at night. Full hookups, some very basic wifi that would work for email and web browsing, but no streaming. We could get US Cellular (on our AT&T modem) 4G LTE 1 bar without booster, 3 with, but no Verizon. We did not use the showers or laundry so cannot comment on those. The people who worked there put on a nightly fire at 6:30pm and we hung out with them all three nights. Great conversation and they even brought my girlfriend cupcakes for her birthday on the last night of our stay! They were constantly working on improvements for the place during the day and the hard work shows. Just minutes from Redwood Casino / Klamath to the south and some of the Redwood touristy stuff was close by to the north (i.e. Trees of Mystery).

Excellent location on the Klamath River. Clean restrooms and showers. Beautiful views of river and excellent customer service. Kayak and boat rentals with onsite fishing guide. More than just a camp for fishermen. It's definitely our favorite place to stay in the area.

There are some river front sites that are great but seem to always be full. There is a little general store, a laundry room and showers available. The camp hosts are super friendly and helpful. We were able to use the dock there to use our kayak and they even loaned us life jackets since we hadn’t bought any yet. Camp host Josh makes a community campfire every morning and every night and even shared his marshmallows with us. He provides great info on the area and about the river. They have someone on site who will take you further up the river and drop you off to kayak back down and do boat trips as well. We stayed an extra day because we liked it so much. The campground had just been purchased by new owners and they are making improvements. It needs some maintenance and could use some cleaning up but everything worked and the staff are awesome. A great deal for full hookups on the river. AAA discount gives you $2 a night off.

My fee of $20.00 was with the Passport America program which gives you 1/2 off. I don't think this park is worth $40. a night but maybe it's negotiable too. Would not call this a resort though, just a Campground. Presently for sale so all could change.

We explored the north park near Crescent City and also went south towards Orick -- both were about the same distance from Chinook. If you can, ask for spot #34 -- that's the one next to the river. We were in #36 next to it and had a great view (when the people in #34 left). The site is grass and level. We didn't even bother putting our jacks down. There is up to 50 amp service. The best part about being next to the river is seeing all the different kinds of birds catching fish! We even saw a bald eagle one morning! We have an AT&T and T-Mobile phone and they don't have service at all here.We do have a Verizon Jetpack and it only had 1 bar of LTE service -- good enough for somewhere between 3 and 4 Mbps. Enough to check email, stream music, and scroll social media, but not good enough for non-buffering video.I met the maintenance folks and they are super nice. We had a friendly chat and they gave me suggestions on places to see/go.The resort isn't extremely modernized. You can tell that the owners haven't put much into it in recent years other than general upkeep and maintenance; however, don't let that deter you. It's a great value, the people here are friendly, and it the location can't be beat. I'd definitely come back here again.
