There’s coffee and doughnuts on Saturday mornings, a food truck occasionally and byob happy hour with a live guitar player, I think his name was Dave. It’s a small park and very well laid out. The new dog park is great and they just installed some cool covered seating areas with solar flame lanterns and string lights for a great ambiance. The bath house is fabulous, and the folks working there are just wonderful. Everyone is smiling and pleasant. Will definitely be back. They have WiFi and, OH, there’s SHADE!!!

The barks that are closer in to Camp Verde are parking lots with little privacy. Zane Grey has mature trees and hedges between sites offering the greatest privacy we have found. The grounds are beautifully kept and sites are clean and raked for a neat appearance. The restrooms are always clean and sweet smelling. Showers are spacious. There were four washers and four dryers in the Laundry Room. The owners and staff are very friendly and responsive. If you have friends you’d like to join you, but they lack an RV, Zane Grey has some incredibly nice park model cabins for rent, each with a patio and fireplace! We want to also mention the on site dog park. We really enjoyed our week long visit and believe you will too!

The site was definitely long enough for our 35 foot trailer and our full-size Ford truck. It’s a very quiet campground and very well maintained. Since we were coming from Southern California and we were going to lose an hour, we were concerned about arriving after dark, because they do not allow you to pull in after 5 o’clock. I wish someone would’ve told us that they have a space available for after hours arrivals. It’s right next to the office and it’s space number 50. It’s a pull through site and you’re supposed to check in with them in the morning if you use it.

The downside is that it is right on a busy 2 lane highway so it is noisy during the day. The sites are very tight and many have no privacy at all. The creek is accessible on a trail but only to a small portion. If you want to get to real running water and some riffles you need to navigate river rock fields and brush. We would only stay here again if it was an overnight stop on our way somewhere else. It did seem like others liked it better than us but this was our experience.

The park is obviously well managed. As soon as a site was vacated a crew was there to police up any trash and rake the gravel pad for the next occupant. Only negatives are weak Verizon service and close proximity to AZ 260 though traffic noise was unnoticeable inside the coach. There is very little truck traffic on that narrow and twisty highway. This place gets my highest recommendation.

After reading some of the reviews regarding rudeness of the staff I was a little leary when we were caught in traffic and checked in after closing. Upon our arrival we were welcomed warmly by the front desk staff and even though we were late checking in they didn't give us a hard time at all. Not sure where all the negative comments were coming from other reviews. We had weak AT&T service but enough to be able to get email. You have to pay for Wi-Fi which is a bummer for 9.99/3 nights. The camp sites are kept very neat, the staff take pride in keeping vacant sights well raked and very neat. The nice long dog run was great for our dogs which was an added bonus since there is no grass on the premises. You can hear noise from the highway but it wasn't enough to take away from the quality of the park. We would stay here again for sure.

When calling to make reservations the staff made sure I knew about all of their current specials and tried to make sure I got the best nightly rate. We showed up before check-in and the were nice enough to help us check-in and get situated at our site even though it was their lunchtime. They gave use pamphlets of the area, local restaurants, a candy pack, and even dog treats. The park is immaculate and they take great pride in keeping it clean and tidy. The staff made sure they were not disturbing me while I sat outside during the day when they were doing maintenance and even took away my trash for me. The site is fairly large, with a great share tree, as most of the spots are. The dog run is well kept, along with the recreation area, and laundry room. We were able to work remote, stream video, game on Xbox using a mobile router on an ATT mobile sim getting over 20mbps minimum. Our cellphones using Verizon were getting speeds of under 2mbps. The park Wi-Fi using Tengo service stated service of 5mbs down and 2mbps up, but I was getting just over 2 down standing next to the WiFi repeater. The creek access is a nice added bonus, but the open space is small to access the water. We will definitely be back and highly recommend the park.

I really wanted to be further north and out of the heat, but when you wait until 4 weeks prior to make plans, you have far fewer options. We were camping with another family, and it was their first time, and Zane Grey was able to give us adjoining sites on relatively short notice. The sites were spacious and level. We have slides on both sides of our trailer, and still had PLENTY of room (10 or 15 feet?) between us and the adjoining sites. They also have huge shade trees all through the campground, which also helps create a little more privacy. Bathrooms were IMMACULATE. By far the best I've seen in our trips. The grounds were spotless as well. They had coffee and donuts on Saturday morning in their ramada. The people there tended towards the older crowd - we didn't see any other kids there. Having said that, they had no issues with kids, but ours were the only ones there. Lots of dogs there as well, bu amazingly enough we didn't hear any of the dogs barking at each other. I'm not quite sure how that happened, but it was nice. People were super friendly. The owners and staff were all wonderful as well. Super friendly and they take a lot of pride of ownership. We will DEFINITELY stay here again!

However, it is a little far from town (15 minutes to groceries in Camp Verde, but 30 mins to Cottonwood for Walmart, Home Depot, and breweries). But the big downside was the cell service is very bad. The cell towers are across the valley on a mountain, and can be fast if you have line of sight. However, our site was in the back up against a hill that shaded us. Was barely able to get any signal, and even voice calls weren't working. However if you go to the front of the park my AT&T phone could get 10 Mbps down, and if you drive up to the street on the hill above, 30 Mbps. TMobile hotspot was able to do OK, but not great. So it's just bad location being tucked away in the back. The park wifi is Tengo, but actually delivered what they promised. Free is 1Mbps up/down, but you can get 5/2 Mbps for $30 a month, and it seemed to actually get that speed and was possible to stream some Netflix at good enough quality. So for a pretty good monthly rate, it turned out OK.

In multiple speed tests with and without our weboost we were able to sporadically get good download speeds (8-10mb) but the upload was practically non-existent (less than 1mb). Free WiFi is working for the time being with a large dose of patience. Don't expect to video conference or screen share over Verizon. When in town doing laundry today the speeds weren't any more reliable or consistent. This park is great for a weekend off work and practically on the hiking/off-road trails. Lack of cell data for the price we paid is the only reason we wouldn't stay here for more than a night again.

Hosts Eileen and Andy were very kind and helpful in making our reservation and then escorting us to our site when we arrived. Andy returned to check on us and make sure we were settled in. Sites are very large and each one surrounded by rail fencing. Large trees provide shade to most sites. Laundry facilities and restrooms/showers are very clean and the entire property is well maintained. Owners host donuts and coffee in the covered meeting area on Saturday mornings. Only complaint would be weak cell service. We look forward to staying at this park when we return to the area.
