Next day it was pretty much gone. The three following days we had beautiful weather. The campground is located at the east entrance of Zion NP. The Trading Post (campground office) has LOTS of tourist stuff, the cafe was closed. The campground rest rooms and showers were clean. There's coin laundry and games in the recreation center. We didn't try the Wi-Fi. We have Verizon and could not pick up a signal except on the west side of the Zion tunnel. We had full hookups which all worked with no problems. Our next door neighbor's water froze up but we didn't have that issue. It got down to 24 degrees or so at night but with clear, sunny skies in daytime. We had our two dogs with us so we couldn't hike in Zion but we did take our dogs in their buggy for bike rides up the Pa' rus Trail up to the Temple of Sinawava (Zion Canyon Scenic Drive). The road is closed to thru traffic but there are cars up to the Zion Lodge and after that just the tour busses full of tourists. It's a beautiful ride up the valley and about 7 miles one way. The Zion NP Visitor Center and adjacent parking lot is crazy busy as always. There had been a fire sometime ago in the South Campground but with little damage to the Cottonwood trees. If you need a place to park for a hike or bike ride and can't find one in the Visitor Center Parking Lot try the South Campground overflow parking. We were the first ones in this lot each day arriving around 9:30. By 11:00 it was full. I would hate to see this place in full season. It was busy enough for us early spring campers. Zion NP is a beautiful place with much hiking, biking and sightseeing. One of our early spring favorites.

Many of the sites are full of dust that will require about a full day to clean everything after your trip. Everything we wore, and the camper itself, were very dusty after 3 days. When the wind blows, your face and body get covered in dust. The tent sites looked less dusty than the RV sites and in a little better condition. Our site did not have a picnic table, although most sites did. I asked for one but they never brought us one. We borrowed the one next to us when that site was vacated. It was like a game of musical chairs. A few sites looked a little close together but our site had plenty of open space! This campground is a mile from the east entrance to Zion, which is the biggest plus. However, there are some downsides to staying by the East entrance - IF you plan on using the Zion shuttle. If you plan on taking the Zion shuttle through the park, check with the park to see when the visitor parking lot typically fills up (we were told it can get filled up by 8:30 am). If you stay on the Springdale side of Zion, many of those campsites are walking distance to the shuttle. We were about 15 miles away, but the drive to get to the visitors center was about 45 minutes (you sit and wait to get through the Zion tunnel). However, the views on the drive are amazing!! We arrived at the visitors center at noon and took over 30 minutes to find a parking space. So it’s kind of a long trek compared to camping on the other side of town and walking a very short distance. Now, if you want to explore the East side of Zion, this location is as close to the entrance as you can get! You could here some of the traffic from the main road but it didn’t bother me and was definitely not overbearing. They have a really nice gift shop and there are deer all around which we enjoyed.

Immediately on connecting to the 50 Amp powe...moreMy wife and I stayed at the Hi-Road Zion RV campground outside Zion national park in our RV on the nights of 17,18 and 19. June 2019. On arrival at the campground on the 17th, we checked in with the front desk lady, drove to the assigned RV site and connected the RV to the hook-ups as usual. Immediately on connecting to the 50 Amp power, there was a sparking sound, a strong smell of electrical burning, and our microwave burnt out. My wife went to the office to ask if there was anything wrong with the power, and was told “Oh you shouldn’t be using the 50 Amp connection, didn’t anyone tell you (they didn’t)”. She was then told by the office that my e-mail confirmation of the reservation had included a statement that only 30 Amp was provided (the e-mail confirmation had no such statement). She later checked the Internet information, from where we had the link to Hi-Road, and it clearly stated 30 Amp and 50 Amp available. I checked the other RV sites on the campground and many had the 50 Amp connector taped off with duct tape. Ours did not. The owner of the campground, Erika McLaws, graciously accepted responsibility for the problem and agreed to replace the microwave.Following the burnout, the Hi-Road maintenance man put large notices on all the RV sites saying 30Amp only, and disclaiming the campground from any responsibility in the event of damage from the 50Amp connector.On leaving Hi-Road, we travelled to Page in Arizona, where we found that the forward air conditioner was also not working. The problem was investigated by RV Country in Flagstaff and they confirmed that the air conditioner had suffered the same damage as the microwave. We informed Erika. Both the microwave and the air conditioner were finally repaired in Yuma Arizona, and we submitted copies of the bills to Erika with a request for reimbursement.The response from Erika and her husband Todd was to deny responsibility and claim that the 50 Amp circuit could not have been to blame. Obviously we could not accept this.For two weeks, all attempts to contact Erika were unsuccessful. Calls to her personal phone forwarded to a voicemail which was always full and could accept no further messages. E mails were not answered. Messages left at the campsite were not answered. Finally, on 12. July we received another e-mail from Erika and her husband fully rejecting our claim for reimbursement. We must evidently take further action to achieve settlement.The campsite itself is in a good location, but can best be described as quite primitive, possibly at the start of improvement. The ladies at the front desk are very pleasant, but in the circumstances, I cannot recommend this site.

The physical site was just ok, the road was rough, but that’s understandable as it was labeled as a 4 wheel drive only. The campsite was a bit overgrown and tucked back in some brush, there was a bit of trash left from previous campers like eggshells and wrappers. Just an overall feeling of poor maintenance. Once when we came back from battling the throngs of people in Zion, we pulled in our site to see an unwelcome and unknown person at our site. He was shady and unkept looking and largely ignored us and just kept wandering in and out of the brush by our spot (obviously collecting firewood by breaking large limbs of the nearby trees despite the signs saying not to) it was a bizarre and unnerving experience. That night the campers down the way were inebriated and loud, this was at least two or three spots down, but they were SO loud, blaring music, screaming.... not a fan. The last odd thing to top all this off was when we were pulling stakes ready to leave, a chicken, yes a real live chicken wondered into our tent. We had a good laugh and it eventually shuffled on into the brush. Maybe it was looking for that dude? Overall, I’d only camp here again if I had no other options. But I don’t plan on ever stopping here again.

I would not stay here ever again. I did not feel safe. This campground is right off Highway 89. There is NO security. Trespassers come and go at all hours of the night&day. Our site was directly in view of laundry room/bath house. There are no showers for campers @ Zion. One of the three showers in ladies room still out of order. Plumbing is in bad shape. There are no mats in showers or to step out of shower.If the owners would obtain a key pad access or magnetic card access they could provide a better, safer environment and improve their bottom line and finish fixing it up. The big positive is being right outside Zion NP.

The sites are narrow and all fine sand. No cell service. WiFi in laundry room only and many people hang out in there for hours using it bogging it down. People even take long naps in laundry room. Plenty of space to walk our dog and let the cat.out on his leash, too. Our only frustration was finding out they only have 30 amp service. Otherwise, this campground was clean, quiet, and very close to the east entrance of Zion. Location, location, location is what you're paying for. We'd stay here again.

We were too late for many of the first come, first serve locations, and had an RV and Teardrop trailer set up to fit somewhere. Hi-Road accommodated us into a single pull through site with a smile. The campground is one mile east of the East entrance of Zion NP; conveniently close for park visitors. Campground registration is located across the street at the gift shop. Campsite also has tent camping and "primitive" 4x4 access camp sites. Site 50 is located next to the communal water spigot and laundry/shower building so there was moderate occasional noise from car doors and people, but generally quite. However, we got a last minute site so we didn't complain. Site was a level gravel pad, requiring few leveling blocks. Water was yellowish and smelled odd, so suitable for showers, toilets, and washing dishes. Campground did not have cell service for both AT&T and Verizon; gift shop is the only spot with Wi-Fi. Overall, I would recommend staying here, especially when visiting Zion NP. ***IMPORTANT*** If coming through the national park, be aware of the park's regulations on rig measurements for switchbacks and tunnel passage. Any vehicle that is 7 feet 10 inches (2.4 meters) in width and/or 11 feet 4 inches (3.4 meters) in height or larger is required to have a tunnel permit ($15.00, in addition to the park entrance fee, for the tunnel permit at the entrance station before proceeding to the tunnel). Single vehicles over 40 feet long, combined vehicles over 50 feet long. The ranger at the South entrance "eye-balled" the length of our rig and denied us entrance, thus we had to go around. What should of taken us a max of 15 miles and 30 minute drive through the park to this campsite turned into 2+ hours and 90+ miles.
