Everything about this place was a positive experience, from making the reservation over the phone, to waking up to a gorgeous river view each day. The staff are all very nice and helpful (we locked ourselves out of our camper, and they put us in touch with people who saved us). Sites 1-12 are now full-hook up, new this year. All sites have lots of shade provided by the trees and cliffs, making the 100-degree days bearable. A nice touch are the large trash barrels that are placed every few sites; convenient when you’re used to hauling trash to a central dumpster. The store has a lot of necessities, plus fun items for purchase, and being able to rent tubes and have transport on-site is extremely convenient. For Verizon customers: cell coverage at the store is 0. As you make your way towards the middle of the grounds, you will pickup service. We will certainly come and camp here again. Until then, we will enjoy our memories of gorgeous river views and a great tubing experience.

We just got done with a long weekend at KL Ranch Cliffside and we cannot wait to go back! This is Hill Country, river camping at its finest. Large grassy sites with an unobstructed view to the river, and a huge cliff towering behind you (giving you an always appreciated break from the blistering Texas sun) . They have an on site convenient store that stays open until midnight on the weekends. It has most anything you could need/want and they don’t kill you on the mark up. The owners, Jenn and Bobby, are absolutely wonderful and the staff working in the store and the gate were pleasant as well. There are no dogs allowed in the campground, which can definitely be a bummer if you’re traveling with your pet(s), but this seems to be a common rule among the campgrounds along this stretch of the river. Also, we had absolutely zero cell phone reception. No calls, texts, or internet. You can get service just up the road if you really need it, but we enjoyed being unplugged for a few days. They have tubes available for rent in the store. I’m not sure about any sort of kayak or canoe.....I forgot to ask. You’re only about 10 to 15 minutes away from New Braunfels (pop. 60,000) which has any type of store or entertainment you could want, but other than a trip to H-E-B the first day we got there, we didn’t want to leave the river. They get very busy from Memorial Day all the way through Labor Day, especially on the weekends, so I would definitely recommend calling ahead for reservations. All the RV sites have 30 amp and water, with the dump station easily accessible on your way out. Lastly, it should be noted that KL Ranch Cliffside and KL Ranch Camp on the River are two separate campgrounds. They used to be one but then they were split up amongst family and then yada yada yada....now they’re separate.
