Stayed for a couple of days trying to get some relief from the heat at Big Bend NP. Power & water was good. We were able to navigate our motorhome with out much difficulty. We would stay here again. We camped at Lost Alaskan RV Park in a Motorhome.

We came here to Rockhound for 2 days so we saw little of the park the first 3 days except for the showers but the rest of the week was great. As mentioned above this is a quiet, dark sky park. We went to bed early because of the moon but got up every morning at 3 to watch Orion chase the stars across the sky! There is a tent camping area where you can grill( didn’t bring ours) and wash dishes ( who wants to get their rig dirty). Don’t know about TV as we don’t have one and cell/WiFi was great. We don’t often end up in RV parks but since we are in Texas….

Make sure you stop by the Drugstore and have the chicken fried steak .. just wow! Oh and you HAVE TO stop by the Davis Mountains Nut Co., pecans that will change your life! Seriously amazing! Take the drive down to Marfa to enjoy the SPECTACULAR night sky. We were blown away with the amount of things to do in West Texas, and would come back in a heartbeat!

The park staff were super friendly. Each site has a large pine tree that provides some shade in the afternoon. The park wifi was excellent. Even the cable worked. This is a quiet park in general with lots of late afternoon shade available.

No complaints. Nice park. Can’t speak to restrooms because we brought our own. Good Wifi and cable. Park is well maintained. We washed our RV there on their pad for $10.00. Byo soap and everything but they do supply the hose and spray nozzle.

The entire park has beautiful pine trees that make the park feel like you are in truly in the pines. There was good OTA TV channels and there was cable available. Cell signal was 3 bars LTE and we had no problem using it. Our WiFi had great strength. Half of the park had seasonals, but they had to follow strict guidelines to ensure there was no clutter around their RVs. There is a swimming pool to enjoy, but no hot tub. This is a great stop if you are going to go south to explore Big Bend National Park.

Otherwise you are walking through a campsite and a good move. Bring a bike.

Sites were very rough gravel, but pretty level, if there is one thing they can improve on, it's the gravel, they need a few trucks of finer gravel . The site had good power and water. The Bathrooms and showers were super clean, and must have been remodeled somewhat recently. There is a RV Wash in the Back (concrete pad and water) All the staff we meet were very nice and helpful. It's just a short ride to Downtown, where there are good places to stock up on groceries, a well stocked hardware store, a few food trucks and best of all close to the Big Bend Brewery! Also a nice quick ride to Marfa (we saw the lights).

  • Very clean, well maintained private campground in an excellent location to explore surrounding area (Alpine, Davis Mountain, Marfa, etc) and to stock up before/after Big Bend.

Sites are adequately spaced with trees to provide some shade, but no privacy between sites. The staff are very helpful and the facilities are immaculate. Fairly large laundry facility (6 washers/6 dryers) and everything worked! There is a playground, pool, nice pet area and a place to wash your rig (additional fee). The campground is about 2 miles out of town, but it’s a doable walk or easy bike ride. We walked into Alpine twice for coffee at Plaine and donuts from Baker’s Dozen and enjoyed the Big Bend Museum at Sul Ross University. Alpine has groceries, gas, restaurants, shops, galleries and a hardware store. The $34 quoted was a daily rate, we got a 15% PA discount so paid $28.95/night. We stayed at an RV park in Marathon before going into Big Bend and would highly recommend the Lost Alaskan in Alpine over Marathon – much better access to services, quieter, and overall nicer RV park. We had 3 bars of Verizon 4G unboosted. The park also has free wifi which worked fairly well.

Was quoted a discount price for a club membership when making reservation. Arrived and was told there are no discounts in March as the local college is in recess; what that has to do with an RV park in the middle of no where is beyond me. Facilities are nice. Easy in and out.

This seems to be the nicest park in town. It's on the north edge, but it wasn't a bad bike ride into downtown. The workcampers checking us in were extremely nice and helpful. The cg actually gives you mints and dog bones when you check in which is cute. Other workcampers we met helped us out with a couple issues we had, too. Overall, everyone was very nice and helpful, workers and guests alike. We had a spot near the back at the edge of the regular spots before the premium. The premium spots have manicured grass, paved small patio, and short fence. Since we were bordering the premium spot, we had a fence on our patio side which was nice for the dogs. The rate above reflects the Escapees discount. The bathrooms were clean and the laundry room had a good amount of washers and dryers. The park was kept up well overall. There is a small dog park up front, but we mainly just walked them around the park and the empty field across from us. There are shaded tent platforms. The pool was closed in March. The Reata restaurant in town is delicious.
