We stayed 6 nights and I'm still kind of confused on how I feel about it. Lots of pros and lots of cons. The spots are incredibly close together. Another reviewer said it was no worse than a KOA but I agree with the others who say they are too close for comfort. The sites couldn't have been more than 12 feet wide so if you and your neighbor both had slides, you were practically touching. Probably one of the closest I've ever seen. You're basically in a field, which is fine. You're off the highway, so there isn't any road noise. There are some really amazing views right our your window, but you have to overlook a bunch of junk to see them. It's obvious that full timers are there, which is generally never an issue. But these guys are loud and treated the whole campground like it was all theirs. The trailer next to us had a chain link fence around their entire rig and inside the fence, it was just piled with crap. Toys, old appliances, trash, barking dogs, etc. If you could crop out that from your peripheral, you had a nice view of the mountains. It is a shame that the entire place is junked up and it has so much potential to be a beautiful and comfortable destination campground. Behind the campground was a beautiful spot on the river, but no spots backed up to it. If you are in the area for fishing, this is a great option. Down the road is a national forest area that follows the river and was a great road to run on and obviously great fishing. I struggled with the price. I understand that it's somewhat of a desirable area, but for almost $50 a night, you expect to have some amenities. There is however, a great restaurant on site. We ate breakfast there one morning and took home some homemade sourdough bread. The owners weren't very friendly, and the check in process was horrible.(FYI, you have to go into the restaurant and there's no signage for that). It was easy access for our 36ft 5th wheel and we had great Verizon LTE service. We also have T-Mobile wireless router with a booster and were able to pick up enough T-Mobile service to work all week with no issues. If you want to be in this area and have full hook ups, then I'd recommend it. If you don't need to be in the area and don't need FHU, this definitely isn't a destination or a place you want to spend a lot of your time. Would I stay here again? Well, we're about to pass back through Missoula again next week and I'm looking for an option with electricity. And although Ekstrom's would be extremely convenient, I am going to see if there are other options - it'll probably be worth it even if somewhat out of the way.
Awesome stop!!!

The review that said the sites are too close is somewhat misleading. If you stay at koa’s or hardly any rv sites, they try to optimize space for revenue. We were so pleasantly surprised. Stayed at bearmoth on our way out and the traffic and railroad noise was awful -but the electricity was out and we had to sleep with windows open. This one is quiet. Easy self check in and access.
Too bad the sites aren't better for such a beautiful area

It is hard to get any campsite at the last minute in Montana in the summer, it seems. Especially, if it is near a river where people want to go fly fishing. So, Ekstroms was a happy find even if we hadn't gotten a FHU site. It has enough room to have space for people even if you end up dry camping there. That said, we took a FHU site since we hadn't had water/electric sewer for quite some time. The FHU sites are on a grassy lot and very close together. Our slide almost touched the neighbor's awning on one side and we weren't able to put out our awning or it would have hit the neighbor's on the other side. The sewer hookups are oddly placed, too. They almost extend into the neighbor's site. But, we could have enjoyed staying even longer because there was a river to wade/fly fish in right behind the CG, trails to hike on, a restaurant and bakery that made delicious homemade cinnamon rolls, etc. And, a pretty decent cell signal! There was even a playground and basketball court that our granddaughter enjoyed.Verizon signal was 4 bars and enough bandwidth to upload a bunch of photos to back up.
Beautiful setting, away from highway, good amenities

Gorgeous river runs through the back of the property. 20 min to Missoula on the I-90. I would definitely stay here again. The setting was so beautiful. There is a playground and wagons and teepees to explore for kids. MAlso, it is far from the highway and train. You don’t hear either.
Very helpful

We stopped at Turah Campground but they only had tent space left. The owner gave us directions to here. Easy to get in the site. Plenty of space. Quiet, far enough away from the hwy to enjoy the peace.

Made a res here months ago! Was clear on length of our rv and slides. Called several times to make sure all was well (as we were staying for 30 days!). Get up there and the “site” they tried to give us would have hardly safely parked our truck! No way to put out 4 slides or awning. Uh NO! Option was to take a water!/electric only site....moreMade a res here months ago! Was clear on length of our rv and slides. 1 mile off of I90. Much fishing opportunity on Rock Creek which flows into the Clarks Fork River. Close to Missoula, MT. Staff very likable. Cell service was good.

Great hook up sites behind big rigs in the center. River close by. Beautiful scenery. No hwy noise. Laundry. Great restaurant. Didn’t fish but fly fishermen around doing well.
Nice Rustic RV Park - Clean, safe and quiet; rural but close to I-90. Historic Restaurant on site.

Very peaceful area, clean restrooms. Very rustic, didn't feel like the concrete jungle RV parks we've stayed in. Close to river, views fantastic. Friendly folks will get you registered inside the restaurant. Can probably accomodate rigs of any size. Reasonable prices for full hook-ups and seems every site is a pull through (grassy level sites in field). Made pulling in a breeze. A little confusing to figure out site numbers as there are no pads or gravel "driveways". There is also tent camping and cabin rentals on site. They have a laundry, showers available.Large area to pull up & check-in - no worries of blocking traffic in & out. Extremely convenient to I-90, yet far enough off to be quiet with no traffic noise. Smell of pine trees heavenly. Loved this place!Stayed here in June 2015 - pulling a travel trailer.
