We chose the back-in sites along the river and while you can't see the water there are big trees and lots of grassy space. We couldn't get the Wi-Fi in this area of the campground but Verizon service was decent. Bathrooms were clean and they had a little dining space with breakfast and dinner available. There is a short trail that goes around the campground on the levee. And if you walk just down the road a bit to the bridge over the river there are hundreds of swallows flying above the river and into mud houses under the bridge. Quiet at night and we heard an owl and coyotes. Easy access to I-90 though you have to go through the park if you're heading east.

We checked in an hour early and were charged an early check-in fee of $5 and the site had some trash in it that I cleared but the park itself wasn't packed. The people running the place seemed attentive but the weather was absolutely horrible and a large branch from a tree went down as well as a few smaller ones during a bad windstorm. We kept getting weather warnings throughout the afternoon. What was nice was that the weather cooled the temps down a bit. The power stayed on through the storm which was also good. Didn't use any of their facilities. Pretty much stayed here due to its location to Badlands. Seemed a bit pricey for what you get but it also seems that koa is like that. However, I've been surprised at a few koas but not this one. Just a place to stay.

Also, this place is in the middle of nowhere, but the campground has breakfast and dinner every day, so you can find sustenance even in the desert. Would definitely recommend this place if you are looking to check out the Badlands!

However, camping in our solar teardrop in the midst of all the "Big Rigs" is not our ideal, but it's the option we had. Restrooms were clean; showers were clean; there was an outside sink for washing dishes as needed; the laundry was clean and the machines ran well with timers to let you know when your load was completed. We had a site with extra space around us and even our own tree!! We were located near to the aerator for the septic pond so odor was a bit of an issue. The campground is HUGE and can accommodate any size RV it seemed plus had an area for tents removed from the RV 's with lots of trees for shade. This is not a negative review for this RV park: there was an active swimming pool, a good pumpout station, a small store. Yes we would stay here again; but we'd ask for one of the perimeter sites to be a few more feet away from all the action.

Fun place for kids & on the white river- we had a great time exploring it. Unfortunately we had to leave our reservation early because of the poor cell signal. We have to have it for work and it was barely 1 bar on Verizon and even less on at&t. The owners were very kind and tried to help us and allowed us out of the rest of the week. Great place, just not for On the road workers.

Clean facilities, grounds and the staff were so friendly and helpful. the only down fall was wifi was only good around the little cafe and playground. The town of interior is small but also so friendly at the little mom/pop country store. The location of the KOA is perfect for the day-trips to the Badlands to see all the wildlife and great hiking trails. You must purchase a National Pass($80-for a family, discount for seniors, military) that gives you all access to any National parks for the year. Rapid City is about a 45min drive away for more convenient shopping or restaurants. Plus, my greatest memory as a kid...Dinosaur Park. We will surely stay here again.

Like most KOA's, they advertise wifi but we didn't have it and we really needed it on this trip. We have AT+T and most of the time, we had zero bars. Once in awhile, we'd get one bar but it would only last a minute or so.

The staff were very friendly and the store had everything we needed. There was even a grill cooking until about 8 in the evening near the office and playground. The area is definitely remote so cell is going to be low regardless of carrier. And Wifi is really only strong next to the office. There is a dirt road across the highway that climbs for close to half a mile and then rolls between ranch land and crops. There are some good views up there of the Badlands to the north and west. I did this as a run but you could easily drive up there, just FYI.When we were there the White River was pretty well swollen and full, but this year has seen extremely high rainfall all across the mid-continent, so this is most likely not a huge concern typically.Again, this is very close to Badlands NP and can easily be a base camp for it, Wall Drug, Delta-09 Missile Silo, etc.

We had sporadic cell service, but could connect most of the time. The showers were much welcomed and were clean but a bit dated. Staff were welcoming and attentive. Tent site was debris free except for a few tent pegs. Score!

On the good side, it's large, with a mix of full hookup sites, partial hookup, cabins, and tent sites. It's just a few miles from the entrance to Badlands National Park. Most of the sites have plenty of shade trees which are a huge benefit considering how hot it gets here. One big plus for us was the large fenced-in dog area, one of the largest we've seen, which also has a dog washing station. Being a large campground we found plenty of grassy places to walk our dogs. There's a swimming pool which looked like it got a lot of use (we didn't use it), and other amenities like pancake breakfasts, evening BBQs, etc. On the bad side, we thought our full hookup pull-through site was a little small for a $50/night rate in rural South Dakota. The sites in our area were so short that many visitors' tow vehicles were sticking out into the very narrow lanes between the sites--when it was time for us to leave we couldn't get out and had to drive through the empty site across from us to get to the next lane. The other big downside for us was there was no usable Verizon or AT&T signal. With our booster we got a very weak signal but data (3G only) was still extremely slow. The campground WiFi worked occasionally but was usually unusably slow in the evening. There are other campgrounds closer to Badlands (less expensive and with cell signal) but the big thing the KOA has going for it is mature shade trees and amenities like the pool and dog park.
