The tale of misrepresentation and chaos involved here too long to relate. But clearly a place best left to the locals, who were having a super-spreader event in the middle of a resurgent pandemic and campfires in a burn ban. I’d rather have burned the $70 we spent for two nights here (a Fri/Sat, and all else booked), hunkered down in a dusty, noisy, poorly managed nightmare with 30 amps and water. No Verizon, no OATV. No COVID procedures in place, it goes without saying, though the bath tile was clean. We are way too uptight for the Wapiti experience, which many seem to find as bucolic as pictured on the internet.
Nice rest stop before you drive south.

We found this place out of disperation and needing a place to regroup and park. It's a old Elk Lodge retreat and plenty of parking and space between each rig, the have water and electric plus a dump station for donations. Very quiet and peaceful, no wifi or cell phone service so, if you're looking for a quite a close place to town this...moreWe found this place out of disperation and needing a place to regroup and park. The campground is in a grassy pasture dotted with trees, there a good fishing spot too. The campground itself is pretty primitive...but its one of my fave places for $20
