  • Good enough for a last minute reservation but there are better options.

I'll preface this as we picked this CG for a last-minute long weekend getaway to the NY finger lakes due to availability and knowing about some other lukewarm reviews here on Campendium and elsewhere. The campground is a converted golf course however what is not conveyed is that it's in an industrial area backing up to active railroad tracks as well as the Erie canal (be prepared for the warning horn when the lock near the campground is used). At check in it was not made clear to my wife that there was a loop in the entrance road that allowed a less steep approach....no big deal but if you attempt with a long rig (we're 43') you will scrape your bumper. Some signage would greatly improve this situation. We chose site 100 when making our reservation as the map showed it perpendicular to a road and, knowing we'd likely be arriving fairly late, hoped would ease arrival with an easy back-in. What the map and description did not show was that the site was EXTREMELY unlevel, essentially being on the side of a hill. With some creative cribbing and using every block I had I was able to get our rig leveled but it required multiple repositions and additional blocks and chocks so be prepared if choosing a site along that row. The rest of the sites looked much more level and there is a new section being setup so definitely call and confirm prior to reserving.

  • This campground is a work in progress.

The owners have purchased an old golf course and are converting it to a campground. The main issue - drainage/mud when it rains. They really need to put in firmer pads/sites and better drainage. We had a full hook up 50 amp pull thru. It was the driest/least muddy one they had when we got there. First impression when you pull in is not great. The building housing the office/restaurant/bar badly needs a coat of paint. To the right is a mini golf area in very bad shape. It’s not in use evidently. They should fix it up or remove it. The driving range next to that looks ok. We had a Friday nite fish fry in the restaurant/bar that was very good. They have music on a lot of Saturday nights that people said was good. They advertise walking trails but we walked all over the old golf course and didn’t find any. Close to the town and we walked along the Erie Canal on a path. People are very nice. The bathroom/shower room in our area looked new and was very clean. The laundry room is pathetic. Two sets of stackable washer/dryers in a space so small you could hardly turn around. We went to a laundromat in town. There is a pool that looked nice. We didn’t use it. All that said- I gave it a 3 because it has a lot of potential and the restaurant/bar is good and it’s convenient to shopping, etc. also, the price is reasonable. We also have family in the area. We would stay again. Hopefully they will continue to make improvements. I had pictures but can’t find them now.
