I booked at the other campground (Angel Fire RV Resort) and they say they're the campground for Angel Fire Resort which leads you to believe it's at Angel Fire Resort. Well, it's about 6 miles away and about an hour later after booking the lady refused to give me a refund and said the same owner who owns the RV park is the owner of the ski resort so they deceive you into thinking it's on the mountain. Either way, the owner of Monte Verde gave me a credit to cover the cost of cancelling at the other park which already exceeded my expectations. If you're camping in or around Angel Fire, this is the place to be!
Beautiful valley, convenient location, well run.

Campground is on valley floor, so no major trees, but open skies and views of Wheeler Peak are fantastic. Newer section of park is more spacious but less grass. Great experience all around. Some road noise from highway, but quiet at night.

It is right off the state highway, but we didn't have a problem with road noise at night. The site was level and had grass between us and the next RV, which was about 10-12 feet away. The restrooms were clean. There was a common area with a lot of picnic tables. We have Verizon and our phones showed us roaming while at the park. We could make and receive calls. The wi-fi was fine, although a little slow our last night. We didn't stream movies, but websites loaded quickly. The park is located in the flatland of the valley, but the mountains are all around you - very pretty. There weren't a lot of trees in the park, but there were some, I watched some yellow aspens fluttering from my window. We booked and paid over the phone, and communicated via text for check-in and check-out. The owner lives on site and would have been available if we had any problems.I'd like more space and more trees, but I'd certainly stay here again.

Bathrooms are at the very front and one stall for the whole place (not very useful). Young couple now own the place and they are working to improve the place.

The owner had left us a bathroom key but no other instructions. This wouldn't have been a problem if a map was available of the site or if we had been assigned a site. Virtually no communication. We had to ask some other campers where tents were supposed to be set up. Tent camping consists of a yard in front of the owners house (where she watches you like a hawk). No privacy from her or other campers. Parking was across the way, far from the tent yard unless you wanted to camp literally 10 ft away from the camp office/owners house. RVers get power hookups and all kinds of amenities. Tent campers have no access to power unless they hook into an empty RV spot (not something I normally expect out of a tent camp site, but at $15/person/night I expected something amazing). There are no fire-rings, even though there was no fire ban. Not even any bushes to give some sort of semblance of privacy. Just a flat, grass yard. There is a "pavilion" which is a half shelter with two picnic tables...At $15/night/camper and pay-for showers, this place is a total rip off. I would never go back. We only stayed because it was the holiday weekend and we didn't have any other options. We kept wondering why people would pay for this, and the answer is they wouldn't unless they didn't know and didn't have another choice. For as much as they charge, they really don't seem to like tent campers. RV'ers got wifi passwords, but not the tent campers (not just us, multiple campers asked if we had gotten one). The owner somehow has a reputation for being a great person, but I don't understand how. She was rude to us everytime we talked to her so we avoided interactions as much as we could. Also, double stay away if you're a mountain biker - she seemed to have some sort of special prejudice against you. When she was lecturing me about never leaving the bathroom door unlocked because "There's lots of mountain bikers around here that are hot to trot for a free shower." Keep in mind, even if they could get in... it's still a quarter for 2 minutes of shower time!!I have had a lot of vacation experience at this point. VRBO, AirBnB, resorts, hotels, backpacking, and car camping. This was by far the worst customer experience I've ever had. On the bright side, the site was clean, it was close to Angel Fire, and it was on the highway if you're ok with the traffic noise for the ease of access.

Many of sites during my visit, were seasonal campers who would come on the weekends, so during the week not as much camping traffic. This was my first time in Angel Fire and I really loved the area. The ski resort offers mountain biking, zip lines and other attractions. Was here during July 4th weekend and the town of Eagle's Nest has a fun parade during that time. At the time I was here in 2014, you could take your dog off-leash behind the campground on a uphill trail. There are some decent hiking trails near Angel Fire and Q-dog was able to go swimming in Monte Verde Lake. The campground has WiFi but I didn't use it.
Not many options in Angel Fire, so this does the trick.

I needed to be in Angel Fire for a trail running event, so I opted to stay here rather than the state park further north.Easy access to the campground and great access to Angel Fire. On the main road to/from Angel Fire, but noise isn't outrageous as there isn't a constant flow of traffic.Site spacing actually isn't bad for a commercial park, but other than that, it is a commercial park. Enough said.Zero Verizon service. Anywhere.
