It is very close to the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge and the north entrance to the Superior. If you love seeing the Great Lakes freighters up close then this is the spot to stay in Duluth. It is also within walking distance of the Maritime Museum and a number of great restaurants and eateries in that Duluth Canal Park area. It has room even for large Class A rigs, smaller rigs are easier to move around in this place. It was a great place to stay and we loved it and met some really nice folks there.

The sites are decent-size and mostly level. No privacy from neighbors and side-to-side could be tight quarters depending on the rig (and if it has slides) that is next to you. But for being within walking distance of a good restaurant and entertainment district, this is a quieter spot than being in the city proper. The marina makes for some nice views over the Duluth port and the lift bridge, which offers some cool sites when it goes up and Great Lakes freighters come through. There is some routine marina and port noise, but we didn't find it troublesome. (Note that the lift bridge schedule could throw off arrival and departure since you need to travel over it to reach the marina.)Cell service was great for Verizon and T-Mobile, plus the campground WiFi is good, too.Having clean, modern bathrooms, showers, and laundry available in the adjacent hotel is a nice amenity. It's city camping, but it's a good spot to hang out for a few days to enjoy Duluth.

At 3am One night an unexpected weather system moves through with 40+ Mph steady Winds and 50+ mph gusts. Be sure your rig is anchored/chalked well, and DO NOT leave your awning out.The shared bathroom in the Fairfield Hotel for campers was amazing...one of the nicest and cleanest bathrooms and showers I’ve ever had. They also have a snack/supply shop inside the Fairfield. The marina supposedly provides WiFi, but I measured speeds of 1Mbps or less, which makes it largely useless. Also within walking distance of the historic bridge and town square with museums and lots of restaurants. Beautiful views of hillside Duluth across the bay.$15 late checkout feeOverall a very nice place to stay, if you’re ready for the weather.

The hotel has bathrooms (1shower in each) and a laundry that RVers can use. No tents. Minimal grass but our dog managed. Beautiful to be on the water and so convenient. You do hear boat horns as they approach the aerial bridge. And there is a train somewhere. Sites are very close but room enough to put the slides out. And they have picnic tables. Dump station right at the entry/ exit. It’s a bit tight driving through canal park to get to the harbor but we managed ok. Traffic backs up when the bridge is up to let. Oats by. Those two reasons are why access is three stars. We couldn’t get on the internet and we were in the first site behind the hotel.

The sites are very close together - like awnings are almost touching tight - but we didn't care. Views out the front window were so pretty of all the boats, the lift bridge, and the hillsides of Duluth.Walk to the historic district shops and eateries, the little lighthouse, watch the big ships and tall sailboats under the lift bridge.Water and electric where we were, there are FHUs closer to the entrance. Check in at the marina office, the guys are super nice.Do NOT listen to your GPS. Stay on Lake Avenue, don't go to Casino. Turn right on 10th, NOT 9th street, and you'll pull right into the marina. Still, you're going to drive through the narrow historic district with cars parked on both sides - and then the bridge. Easy, just take your time.No WiFi and very limited area for doggies to do there business.

You get to cross the aerial lift bridge just to get to the park! This is definitely not your average RV park, so please don't expect the amenities of a normal RV park. As I see it, you are paying for hook ups and location, and not much else. In summary, it's a little spendy, but if you want to check out Duluth and be right in the midst of it, this is the best place to stay. We loved our stay here. Just a warning, you will here a lot of horns staying here (both boat and train) at all hours of the day, so be prepared for that.
