There are lots of long timers but the short stay area is separate. There are no bath houses etc ( doesn’t say there are) so just be aware.

No frills campground. Quiet and fairly level. Good stop for visiting St. Louis. The owner was friendly. Cash only.

Water out of tap, with my filtration system is brown and smells like sewage.Apparently, it’s private property so animal control did nothing.Owner is a feeble old man who embraces the non-paying degenerates, who have multiple court dates ranging from drug to vehicle charges, over the paying customers. Verified with county attorneys office.
Quiet and peaceful, but....

Freedom Lake is in a very pretty, rural setting, and the back of our site was bordered by a large field. The campground is a few miles south of Waterloo, IL where there's a Walmart, gas stations, restaurants, etc.Sites were fairly level, and we had water and 30 amp electric service. A dump station was on site. The owner lives in a house at the campground and he is very friendly and accommodating. Please note that he only accepts cash or checks as methods of payment.I gave this campground a 3-star rating because there is no bath house available--no toilets, no showers. There are porta-johns located throughout the campground. From what we'd seen in reviews from the past there was a shower and toilets available at one time (near the dump station) but they're no longer an option. For us, this became a problem--it's hot and humid in the St. Louis area in the summer and we really expected that we could easily take showers here while camping. If you're staying for a night or two, this would probably be fine. But if you're staying longer, it might put you at risk of filling up your gray water tank by showering in your trailer unless you have one of the portable tanks that can be towed to a dump station.
