The location is great being a few minutes from the outlets for shopping and the village of Lake George for the rest. The highlight for me is access to a huge bike path which leads to the outlets to the south and the village to the north. There was considerable road noise where we were but the other campers were peaceful.

(Been to about 9 or 10 different ones this year). Site 22 is grass and level. Water and electric. Cable. Picnic table was missing, rectified immediately by Connor (more on that later). Shaded in morning, sunny in afternoon - although it rained most days while we were at Lake George. Trolley has a stop at Whippoorwill, $1 per person into LG. Was a great alternative for 2 days so we didn’t have to take our Travato into town. Hardly any wait and a great option. If you bike, there is a bike path accessible behind the campground that can take you into LG. Smooth and paved. They also rent out e-bikes. Bathhouse was remodeled and ready by end of May I believe. Fantastic! 2 showers, 3 toilets, 2 urinals. Very clean and seemed to be cleaned daily. Well lit. Showers had low pressure but good enough. No toilet paper holders but that’s a nit. Customer service. Top notch. Connor and Will did a phenomenal job, as well as staff. When we arrived, I checked out the bathhouse. New toilets with #1 and #2 flushing options - not sure some people knew that. One toilet was clogged and not sure about the other two, so I walked over to Connor who was assembling an e-bike. Told him and he immediately went to take care of it. Pool was nice, clean with nice patio. We were sad to leave for our next leg of our trip. Bravo Will and Connor! When we come back to Lake George, we will definitely come back!Note: most sites are not seasonal / monthly rentals. Maybe like 5 or 6. Campground was clean and well kept.

  • Pleasant when empty. Hectic when full.

We were here in the Fall and the trees painted the place lovely. During our first week at the park, the place was about 1/4 full at any given time. For whatever reason, even during this time, rigs tended to be assigned sites next to each other. While each site does have about 20' of lush, grassy room outside their door, fire rings/boxes are placed at the far side of each campsite, which means that if you have a fire loving neighbor, the fire will likely be closer to your rig than comfortable or pleasant. Not all sites have sewer, but there is a dump station. Bathrooms were pretty decrepit - and the sinks had no running water while we were here. Showers looked okay, but did not use them. There is a laundry room available. During weekdays the park itself was quiet except for the noise from (two) highways. Weekends were... raucous. There is a wedding venue very nearby, which makes the motel and campground at Whipporwill a prime place for staying and celebrating. Even without a wedding party, our second weekend - the long weekend in October - was popping off with rowdy revelers. In our first campsite, our 50A leg went out early in our stay. We were unable to coerce campground ownership or management to fix the leg, so we spent our time here on 30A. We also had lots of difficulties getting mail at the campground. Management was friendly in both cases, but overall pretty useless in remedying the situations. This is a pretty little campground when it's not slammed with rigs. Access to the bike trail is awesome - 2 miles and your in Lake George proper. 8 miles in the opposite direction and you're in Glens Falls.

I am familiar with the campground as I have stayed there before. Whippoorwill Motel, Cabins and Campground is located right on Route 9 in between Lake George Village and the Outlet Malls. The campground has 46 sites and the owner is planning more across the road. My site included electric, water and cable TV, picnic table and fire pit. Some sites also have sewer. . There is a small arcade, showers, bathrooms, small play area and a pool. The grounds are very well kept, the new owner is very approachable. I call this campground a little gem because for the amenities it offers for $42 a night is pretty good for Lake George. There is a walking path at the rear of the campground that takes you to Lake George on way, the outlets the other. The Lake George trolley stops at the campground that will take you either way. Lake George Great Escape is not far away. The only negative is the park is small, large trailers or big rigs may have trouble maneuvering around and the sites are rather close! During the season it is filled on the weekends and holidays so reservations is recommended.

There are only four full hookup sites, so we had an electric+water site for our 6-night stay. The dump station was easy to get to on the way out. Sites are decently spaced... not exactly spacious, but not right on top of one another. There are also some unavoidable low tree branches at the entrance. The main problem we had was that the sites are just grass, and we arrived after a day of rain, so our site quickly turned to mud as we tried to back our 40-foot diesel motorhome into it. We put down wood blocks under our tires and jacks and were able to get parked without sinking in too much but it was tricky, and when we left we had to dig our sunken wood blocks out of the now-solid ground. Adding some gravel to the sites would make a big difference. The gravel interior roads are nice and solid. The park is in a central location with easy access to Lake George and Glens Falls. The campground backs onto a paved walking/biking trail along a small stream, which gave us miles of walking options for our active dog. AT&T and Verizon both worked well. The free WiFi even worked much of the time, but was hard to get a strong signal from our site. We received mail/packages during our stay, but the motel office reeked of cigarette smoke and the person we interacted with was not particularly friendly. We'd consider staying again due to the price and bike path access, but will also research other options in the area that might be more big-rig friendly.
