We stayed a couple of night here. Fishing on the Big Thompson was great, if you can find the "holes". Campground facilities are well kept, but it is a bit crowded - but it is close to RMNP and Estes Park. We would stay again for sure!

They have a cute fishing pond, and a pool that was closed due to COVID restrictions. The Big Thompson River does flow right by the campground, it's a fast flowing stream about 20 feet across that you can dip your feet into. All of the campsites here are VERY close together. The photos on their website don't really show the campsites, and that's probably why. Our campsite was dirt, hookups, and a wooden log that demarcated our designated site boundaries. We barely had room for our 28' trailer, truck, and provided camp table. Larger rigs were using two back-to-back campsites to accommodate their length. Most other reviews I've read for other area campsites are similar, you'll be uncomfortably close to your neighbors and this was no different.

The other campers were some of the worst we have been around (probably bc they were all annoyed too).Maybe I could have looked the other way if we had liked Estes Park, but honestly, we have no interest in going back. The downtown is a fake tourist trap with no real charm, CO prices are ridiculous, and while the park is pretty it is packed and just not worth it. We were able to work via cell signal though.

In 2020, I was planning to stay at Spruce Lake for about 10 days. I had to leave unexpectedly due to personal issues. When I checked out the staff said "we can give you credit for your unused days that you already paid for but did not use. Just call us next year to rebook." Seemed reasonable, and to be clear, I didn't push for that or even ask for it. They offered. The sites themselves were VERY cramped. I probably would not have returned but for the credit, as its not the type of campground I prefer to visit. Fast forward to 2021. I called to rebook and the "new" manager said that both the staff and the prior management "made a mistake" and she had a list of people to tell they would not be getting credits that were promised. She also stated that Spruce Lake would not be doing anything to help. No apologies, just blame on the "prior management" and "seasonal staff." I had no expectation of a refund, only for them to honor the credits that were promised (which the new manager acknowledged to many people). Rarely do you find a business so disreputable that they commit to something, agree they committed to it and then just decide not to honor it. I will obviously not be back.

We moved here from in the mountains to get a few days of signal and laundry. We’ve stayed in some tight campgrounds before but these are on top of each other. We had to ask the neighbor to move his truck to disconnect our water and sewer. His truck was on top of it and he wasn’t being rude- it’s just that tight. No rules enforced. Our other neighbor was running his hunt club out of his site so he fed about 15 people breakfast and dinner every night. We had to elbow through them to get into our rig. Laundry room had someone with a nose speaker blasting her music at an ear piercing level and I like loud music. Great location but just a terrible experience.

Store is in walking distance and is a full grocery store, and is walkable to multiple restaurants. Internet was my biggest complaint about this place. Cell and WiFi were not good. You will need a cell or WiFi booster to make it work. We enjoyed our time in estes park, the hikes are amazing and the town was great.

We showed up about fifteen minutes after closing due to an accident on the road into town, but we were surprised to find staff still in the building and even if they weren't they had already set up a welcome packet even though we hadn't completed our reservation yet. We were pleasantly surprised and very happy with the experience. The grounds are very nice. There were geese by the pond. The river runs right next to the campground. There's a playground (although extremely tall) for the kids. There's even putt putt. Someone guided us to our site when arrived. Our site wasn't pull-through, but because no one was behind us when we arrived we were able to pull-through. They come and pickup your trash every morning. We were very please with the amenities. The best part was that it's 5 minutes to one of the Rocky Mountain visitor centers and 7 minutes to the entrance.

The plus, the Big Thompson River borders the park. But it also borders The Manor next door where we will stay the next time.

I can echo all the other reviews here, to add the pond is stocked with brown trout. You pay for a separate park license to fish, and it's catch and keep, they don't let you throw back. The park employees told us this place used to have a lot of fun activities like movie night and pancake and ice cream socials, but those were eliminated when the city began charging for licenses and commercial upgrades. There was a burn ban in effect, so no open campfires except propane while we were there. To the left of our photo was a playground and cement fire pit that they would fire up at night, so the kids at least got to do s'mores. It was a very family friendly place, lots of bicycles. My only gripe was a loud family that played salsa type music until midnight, and I was disappointed the staff didn't shut them down. We drove around to all the RV parks in Estes Park, and this one looked the Most groomed and kept up.

This was an error but the staff worked quickly to find another spot - very lucky as they were packed while we were there. We found out there was a family reunion of 60 people there or I would five a much lower rating for noise and chaos. It was the most like a summer camp of anywhere we've stayed. Dozens of families all yelling to each other all over the park, etc. But the staff kept everyone happy and busy. The Big Thompson River was very fast while we were there - definitely need to keep a close eye on children. The views in all directions are amazing. Site was level but not very nice. Weeds and flaking rails. All utilities worked fine, the fishing lake is beautiful (pay extra to fish in it), pool and hot tub appeared clean and nice. The staff are very, very nice and efficient. Trash picked up at site twice a day. Propane for sale and small store in office. WiFi didn't work but we were warned when we checked in that the whole town uses the same one.We liked it better than the surrounding parks for the views and proximity to the river. We will be back, and we'll stay here.We paid $59 with Good Sam discount.

On Tuesday morning at 11:30am a man knocked on my RV and told me that I needed to check out and the people who were in my spot were waiting for me to do so. I asked him if that was correct...he went back to the office and came back..then told me I had to leave. I counted 23 spots around me that were NOT taken. So I asked where I should move and he had to go back to the office again. I just decided to leave. Also they "escort you" to your spot and "help" you back in, and I don't think the guy (who told me later I had to leave) knew how to drive an RV. (minus one star) - The sites aren't that nice, with paint peeling off of the picnic (my friend got a splinter from ours) and the wifi doesn't let you even do email. (minus another star)The location is good but there is better (Elk Resort right around the corner) but the river running through it was awesome!

We had enough room to park our tow vehicle, a picnic table and our two chairs and still had extra room without feeling cramped. They offer cable and they pickup your trash if you leave it out during business hours. They warned that bears come through the park but unfortunately we didn't get to see any.Five minute form downtown Estes, five minutes from the Rocky Mountain National park entrance. Ten minutes from the YMCA Lodge. Daily bike rides and dog friendly.I gave only 4 stars for site quality because I don't like gravel sites, which all are in the mountains I've been to. I only will give 5 stars if there is a concrete patio. We look forward to staying here again.

This park sits in the Big Thompson River and has it's own stock filled river within the boundaries of the park. The views are beautiful and the sites are very level. Management has a fishing tournament most weekends and other activities for the family. Friendly atmosphere and a good value.
