Comfortable benches dot the shoreline, inviting fishers, birders, and daydreamers. The campsites are quiet with partial shade, and they're generously spaced. Newbies have plenty of room to back up. If you have a big rig, call ahead to ensure an accommodating site is available. The bathhouse is old but as clean as can be. An old one room log cabin was rescued and flipped right-side up after a hurricane. It's the place to visit over morning coffee when it rains. On fair weather mornings, meet at the camp hosts' site for conversation, coffee and maybe doughnut holes. Remember to share your Passport America member number for an unusually generous discount. The Verizon signal was plenty good, pay no attention to the reception bars. New Orleans day tripping is about an hour away. I will return.

I wish we could have stayed longer. We were on the end with no neighbors. Lots of trees. We were able to hang our hammock. The signal was mediocre. The only negative things I can say is that our site did not have sewer hookups (many others did, but they were taken). Also there was only one shower and could use some updating. The wifi was not good, but the cell phone service was good. Overall we had a great time. I would definitely go back. Other than not being able to reserve a spot, everything else was very nice and very friendly people. There is overflow available if needed. Very convenient to everything Gulfport

This campground is the headquarters for Passport America so they brought all of our membership sign-up things to us. Done and done. We saved the money we spent on the membership that week so a very good deal for us. Very quiet. All of the things mentioned in the previous review Plus, the clubhouse/cabin now has an old school looking payphone and you can call for FREE to US, Canada and Purto Rico. Honest. For free. I'll post the pics. One thing to keep in mind, if the Wolf River nears flood level, then they will have you move. [Flooding is very well monitored so you get days of notice. So if you want to stay for a while, then chose higher ground. Oh, the ponds are very large and fishing is free so bring your pole!

There are no reservations, so we hoped we could find a spot on a Saturday. Luckily, we found a pull thru site. It was fairly level but a little muddy due to rain. It had water and 30 amp, but no sewer connection. They do have a dump station and some sites were FHU. We had no neighbors with our spot, but the other sites seemed well spaced. There is a single private restroom/shower for the men and for the women. The women's bathroom was pretty clean but apparently not smoke free. When my daughter and I used it, it smelled like cigarettes and there were 3-4 cigarette butts in the toilet! My husband said the men's restroom/shower was very clean. There is no laundry. They have a small rec room with puzzles and books. There was a telephone that looked like an old school pay phone that my kids enjoyed calling us from. There was a nice playground and community fire pit. I think there is a pool, but we didn't see it. There are 2 ponds and fishing is allowed. My kids and husband swore they saw an alligator in one! (They do have signs warning of alligators, so keep an eye on your kids and pets.) They have WiFi and we had about 3 bars of 4G with Verizon. We heard a couple of helicopters the first evening, but other than that it was pretty quiet. We used our Passport America membership. If you have the time, drive Hwy 90 to some of the adjacent coastal towns!

There was a community fire and coffee in the mornings. There is plenty of space to walk the dog, although it was a little wet due to the rain. The location was the perfect base for visits to New Orleans, Long Beach and Gulf shores. There is a laundromat within 1.5 miles and a walmart within 10.The staff was friendly and accommodating. I look forward. to spending some more time here in the future.
