When we pulled into the park, a young guy was on duty in the office, he was very friendly and efficient and got us out the door in just a few minutes. While the surrounding countryside was dry and brown as typical in this area in the middle of summer, this campground was watered and green. Some of the sites (tent sites) were shaded under a row of trees. We were in a row of RV’s and were open to the sun, which was no problem as we can provide our own shade. The spaces are not private, but one long “parking lawn.” They are fairly level, but have a set of leveling blocks handy, you may need a couple. All of the sites are no more than about a 2-3 minute walk to the lake’s fishing dock. We brought our own kayaks and my husband was able to get out in the lake. They also have little boats for rent. He said it was really nice. There is no beach space per say, and the waters edge has algae growth, so the owners have left it in its natural state as much as possible. I let my pup frolic in the water but wouldn’t want my kids in it. The women’s restroom had 1 shower and 2 stalls. In pretty good shape. I didn’t use the shower, Not sure about the men’s side. Also, We saw couple of people who had been fishing and each had caught a trout, both about 18”-20” long. The campground, although almost full, was very quiet and peaceful in the evenings. Very enjoyable. The BC fires and two fires near Chelan had left the air fairly smoky, but not bad, but noticed there were no mosquitoes flying around, which was a bonus! The campground is over a low hill from Winthrop and about 7 minutes by car to town, and about 10 minutes to Twisp. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend staying there.
