This feels like an RV Park in transition. The entrance sign is small and set back from the road so it’s very easy to miss as you drive past. When you go past the entrance and around the bend in the road you see the RV park they seem to be trying to hide with lots of long term residents and rough gravel roads that are hard to navigate. Check in was done online, so I never saw anyone who worked there. The road is paved but there was quite a dip coming off the asphalt onto the gravel site; we nearly bottomed out the rear of the RV backing into our site and the class A in the site next to us has his front wheels off the ground to get level. We were in Site #30 which had a huge hump in it. In order to level we had to back all the way to the rear of the site which put the sewer connection by the drivers door, too far away for our sewer hose too reach. So when we were ready to dump, we had to break camp just to move several feet. Each site has its own trash can next to the water, sewer and electric hookups which are toward the front of each site. The water connections are under a manhole cover in the ground so it has no space to connect a water pressure regulator and the hose. We chose to not connect the water without the regulator and instead used a five gallon container to fill our tank. The description of their amenities on the website is aspirational, at best. We never found the showers beyond a pair of outdoor showers on the back of the office and, while they did offer propane, it was located in an area that couldn’t be accessed to fill an onboard propane tank in a motorhome. Laundry was $3 per load to wash and $3 per load to dry so we chose to use a laundry mat in town. They are located right next to the bridge to Carolina Beach, so if visiting the beach is your goal the location isn’t bad, but it means there is some road noise from the bridge which is at treetop level next to the campground. Downtown Wilmington is about a half hour away with lots of fun places to explore and the city has a couple of nice parks to go for a walk. Given the cost of the site and the fact that we couldn’t connect to water or sewer, we didn’t think it was worth it.
