Had an amazing time. Close to everything but far enough away to keep it peaceful. Minutes from the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. At the base of the drive to Taos Ski Valley and the Williams Lake Trailhead and 30 minutes to Cerro for the BLM wildness. Can’t wait to get back.

Super friendly owner and host! Gave us lots of great info upon arrival. The park is maintained very well, very spacious sites, with great views in all directions. The starry sky at night And beautiful sunsets and sunrises top off the experience. Can’t wait to stay here again and one of our favorite places, Taos.

Great park! Spacious sites, well-maintained and super clean. The owner host is very helpful upon arrival and shares lots of great information about town. The starry nights and sunrise and sunsets are awesome! Great views in all directions. There’s also an excellent dog walk off into the Taos desert next to the campground. Enjoy!

Super friendly and helpful. We stayed at a 30amp FHU site and everything was great. There are also W/E sites and a few covered tent sites. The campground is very clean and well kept. It's relatively small overall, but the sites have at lease a little bit of space between them.. There is a great walking trail adjacent to the park where you can let your dog off leash. There is a great little gazebo with comfy seating and multiple different types of grills for you to use.Great access to downtown Taos and the Rio Grand Gorge. Lots of great hiking nearby, just get out early before the summertime afternoon thunderstorms come in. We did one of the toughest hikes we've ever done at Wheeler Peak and we had to bail within site of the peak because it started to lightning and thunder.Funny thing is it never really rained at the campground other than a few sprinkles, but we could see AND hear the thunderstorms in and around the mountains every afternoon. Speaking of mountains, the views in this park are beautiful. The only complaint we had is that the laundry room was closed, supposedly due to Covid. That was a little annoying at this stage (July 2021)There was a little bit of road noise from 64, but it did not bother us at night.

Downtown Taos was very charming and the road up to the ski lodges was breathtaking!!

He gave us a nice orientation of Taos when we checked in. They do want you to check by 5pm. We had site 1, which is the closest to the highway --- I'd request one furthest away from the highway. The views of the surrounding mountains are fantastic, and if you're further from the road, you'll have a better view of them as well. We're here on Memorial Day Weekend, and there is a Biker Rally at Red River, the 38th annual event. As a result Taos was also busy with noisy Harleys and they were constantly driving by the Campground on the Highway. I'm a rider, but I'd rather not have them constantly driving by my camper going 80. As in all privately owned camps, there is minimal space and privacy between rigs. The shop and bath houses are still closed due to COVID. (I sure that will change soon) Wifi in the camp works very well for browsing, and light streaming. I would highly recommend this campground for those visiting Taos, just don't come on Memorial Day weekend.

Called in the morning for a reservation later that night as we'd be traveling through Taos. The lady was pretty short and indicated we HAD to be there by 5pm. We couldn't be there until 6pm, so she advised to look elsewhere. That's a new one.

It's just a few minutes outside of Taos if that's why you're in the area. The park is clean and the gravel sites are level. It's right next to the highway, but I don't recall being bothered by noise. (Of course we probably stayed inside for the most part.)We stayed during the COVID-19 nonsense and so the park office/store was closed; I can't speak to those. The owner was pleasant and engaged and presented lots of touristy information about Taos.Really, the only (slight) downside was that the owner and his wife (I assume) want to leave work between 5:00 and 6:00pm so they asked us to arrive before 6:00. Not really a problem but it meant we had to get up and get going earlier than usual since we were traveling 480+ miles that day before arriving in Taos. Something to be aware of if you're planning a long travel day prior to arriving.

I wanted to get far enough away to a place with reasonable temps, views, and things to do when I'm not working. Towns with ski resorts close by are usually a good bet so after a little research I chose Taos. There are not many choices for campgrounds but Taos Montebello is a find! On short notice during the Covid Camping mania, I was able to get a reservation and extend it for almost 2 weeks. What it is: a small very well maintained, famliy owned campground on the Mesa 5 miles outside of historic and artsy Taos. You are on the high plains at 7,200 feet so no trees, very low humidity, and comfortable temps. Daily highs in the mid 80's with lows in the lower 50's. due to Covid all the amenities are closed. That includes bathrooms, showers, laundry, office and store. They recently upgraded their wifi and it works well. I can conduct video call for work all day. My verizon signal varies from 1-3 bars. Spectacular sunrises of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and sunsets over the plains. At night stars are amazing. All sites are packed gravel and level, Sites are angled at 45 degrees and 60' apart so you have plenty of room (and views). The owners are friendly, helpful, and very serious about wearing masks and social distancing. What it's not: It is not Galamor park with pool, bar, pickleball etc. It is not a forest campground - it truly is camping on the high plains which makes it special. We love it and would come back in a minute!

They called us the day of check in to see when we would arrive and made sure to meet us. I can’t speak to the bathroom facilities, due to Covid-19 they were closed. I’m sure they would be as clean and beautiful as the rest of the park. Everything is kept very natural, even the sewer hook ups are covered and made to look very natural in the middle of rock piles. Each site has it’s own garden. All sites are pull through and slanted and at least 44 feet wide. Our site was 70 feet wide. The park is gated and everyone is given a code to enter and exit at will. I can’t say enough good things about Monte Bello RV, the views are spectacular. The WIFi was the best we have ever experienced, some sites have satellite tv also.

There is a lot of lovely landscaping and flower beds separating you from your neighbor, which we appreciated. In the evenings the camp host would water the plants and take care of gardening. The park has a nice little store, and the bathrooms were very clean. There's even a hiking trail through the field about a mile and a half, which we took advantage of in the evenings. A new wifi setup was installed a couple of days before our arrival, and it seemed to work just fine. Only one thing I would change, and they have no control over this, but there is a bit of road noise from the nearby highway. It didn't bother us too much because we were on the side farthest from the road. We will definitely stay there again!

They provided late-night holiday check-in on Christmas Eve, detailed info on the local area, advice on weather proofing our rental RV's septic tanks, and assistance when needed (our battery was drained by a charging computer using the wrong plug-in and we needed a jump start). The site was very large and the nearest neighbor in the next site went 100% unnoticed. The spot was pull-though, level, all hook-ups were easy to use, and the nature trail and pavilion were an added bonus. The restrooms were very large, heated, clean, and available 24x7 along with the laundry room. We used the Wi-Fi provided and had no issues with connections. The local highway noise went unnoticed by all 6 of us who stayed in the RV. It snowed while we were there, so we did not have issues with the dust. The only down-sides were the site does not have propane refills, so you have to drive into town for propane, and the park is pet-friendly which means there are owners who think their dog poop is so cute that they leave it there for you to see.Rate were $36 per night + $5 for each adult over 3 adults + tax. Well worth it.We plan on returning here again :-)
