Each site is edged with a timber fence and has full hookups, a picnic table, and grille. Sites are small but adequate. Each one has a tree to the rear of the site. The interior roads are gravel and crushed stone and wide enough to navigate in any size rig. There is a playground for the kids. Management is nice, checkin was efficient, the park and buildings are well maintained, and there is a great view of the dunes and mountains. It’s only about 5 minutes to the entry to the national park. There is a convenience store and restaurant on site. There are no other grocery stores or restaurants nearby, so stock up before you come. Our only complaint is that the wind seemed to be constant during our stay, which kicked up a lot of dust from the gravel lot and roads. The experience could have been improved if the lot and roads were watered and/or treated to reduce the dust. Still, if we were to return to Great Sand Dunes NP, we’d stay here for the convenience of it’s proximity to the NP.

Able to find a tent spot with the perfect view of the sand dunes! Showers and bathrooms were clean. Only bad thing is the drive up is extremely rough/rocky and the sites can be a bit steep to drive up onto.

Of all the places we visited this summer, this place was the most strict about masking & social distancing (probably a good point). HOWEVER- we quickly found out the staff behind the plexiglass is very friendly & efficient! I don’t know how we got so lucky but we were given the best RV site they have- on the northwest end with a totally unobstructed & breath-taking view of the Dunes! Truly amazing. I don’t think all the sites have such a view. And if you are so fortunate to be there on a clear night with a new moon- oh my THE STARS!!!!!! Unbelievable! The restrooms/ showers are clean & nice. You can buy breakfast down in the office/ store area but we enjoyed ice cream after a long day in the dunes & mountain hiking trails. The only reason this gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because the RV sites are extremely close together & you could hear and see everything going on at the other campsites. But the proximity to the Great Sand Dunes makes it worth any imperfection of this campground.

Please be aware of their "No Mask, No Service" policy when doing anything at check-in, equipment rental, the store, or the restaurant. Tips - Make sure you review a satellite image of the full-hookup RV area and don't make the mistake of reserving a site that obstructs the view of the Sand Dunes or the sunsets. If you have sand/snow sleds from home, bring them with some wax. Have sufficient clothing to dress for the change of temperatures, super nice and warm/hot during the day and very cool at night. Favorites - Central location near Great Sand Dunes, Zapata Falls, and San Luis Wildlife area (by the way, the lake is almost dry).Negatives - Sites are right on top of one another, lots of traffic from tent and cabin campers coming down to the bathhouse, dusty, speed limit is not adhered to (scary if you have small children). No laundry (apparently closed a few years back). Grocery, laundry, and fuel located in Alamosa, CO ~ 25 miles from the campground. Campers coming in and out of the area at all hours of the night. Wouldn't be so bad if you weren't so close together.

We are so glad we did! Arriving after 5:00 p.m., we found the office staff to be very friendly and accommodating. They gave us the last available RV spot, which was great because it was on the end of the line closest to the entrance so we didn't feel boxed in by the larger RVs that were already there. RV sites have full hookups and most have phenomenal views of the miles and miles of wildflower fields and the great sand dunes. The road up to the campground from the main parking lot is a bit rough, but shouldn't be a problem for any vehicle. Just take it slow. Our evening was quiet and peaceful, cell service was more than adequate, and the fact that The Oasis is just 5 minutes from the park entrance makes the $38+tax camping fee well worth it!

Each spot comes with a picnic table and fire ring. Quick 5 min drive to sand dunes.Other reviews mention uneven spots but we didn’t experience that with our RV. Those with travel trailers were using leveling blocks.

Great location and had amenities but almost everything was being renovated so it was kind of frustrating to pay so much for a port a potty and electric. Verizon had 2-3 bars but I consistently got 50mbps+ download speed to stream movies. Be sure to check out zapata falls up the road if you don’t mind bumpy roads!

We reserved ahead of time, then ended up getting in about an hour or two after the office had closed. We found our site number on a convenient board posted on the office door. No problems there. The sites are super close together, as other reviews have mentioned. This didn't bother us though as we didn't intend to spend much time at the rv park anyway. The showers and bathrooms are closed right now, but there are porta-potties and a hand washing stand available. Again, not a problem for us. We were blown away by the amazing sunset! Pet friendly, we had our two dogs with us and saw a couple more there. The area was clean though, no doggie surprises left around. Checking out was super quick. Don't stand in the board rental line, there's a separate window by the office door where you can check out instead. Took us a total of 2 minutes to check out.

We knew that the camp was full but they told us they leave one spot open for last minute travelers that we had to reserve no earlier than 4 pm. We had very spotty service but they dealt with our constant dropped calls and held the spot for us. We were in spot #20 which was small but mostly flat. This worked for us because we were in a 24’ motor coach. Access to the sites was very easy for us and there were many large RVs there as well. Due to COVID they didn’t open the general store/office/restaurant till 9am even though sign said 8am. Kind of annoying as everyone ended up waiting in line an hour early for breakfast and sand board rentals. Cannot comment on quality of food as we are still waiting in line:/ Also cannot comment on facilities as they were closed when we arrived and we left before we needed to use them. The location is beautiful even if the RV sites themselves are plain. There are cute cabins, a lodge, and tent sites as well that we didn’t get to explore during our short stay.

What an amazing view from this RV park. Not a lot of spaces, but that just makes it more peaceful. The view of the sand dunes is totally amazing. Be sure and don't leave your canopy out if you leave though. Made the mistake of doing that one time and a sand storm blew in and tore it off.

If we're going to be gone from the RV most of the day, the quality of the RV Park matters less to us than the location. That said, we didn't have much to complain about here, and we're glad we chose Sand Dunes Oasis. The RV Park is just one long row of narrow RV sites with an occasional tree or shrub to separate them. They're pull-through sites, but because our site was so narrow and had a tree at the back corner, we would have had much more success backing into it than we did pulling in with our 41-foot rig. In addition to the relatively small RV Park, there's a much larger camping area in the woods for tents and small trailers (no hookups), which was great for walking our dog. Unfortunately during our stay in June 2019 the mosquitos were out in force, and we were being bitten non-stop within minutes of arriving. Any time we went outside we had to coat ourselves in DEET first. This is common in the area, and the mosquitos were very bad at the National Park as well. AT&T worked pretty well and the utilities worked fine. Our view of the dunes from the RV Park was scenic, even though the RV Park itself was little more than a gravel parking lot. If you don't mind a longer drive to get to the National Park, there are other options 20 minutes further away, but for maximum convenience this RV Park is literally right outside the entrance to the National Park.

They were spotless and very nice. The people at check-in were really helpful and friendly. You can rent sand boards in Sand slides right on site at their store. The store opens at 8 AM and the breakfast there was great. We were supposed to stay inside the national Park our second night, but were warned that the NP sites are very hard for larger rigs to get into. The Oasis staff were able to get us a different site at their park so we could stay a second night rather than inside the park. Great experience. The only issue we had was that we have a 36 foot trailer, and while the sites were listed as pull through, they are very narrow and you have to take a very short turn to get into them. You will have to back up several times to get in without hitting the grill or the table on either side.

The showers are hot, and four of us took long ones (after days playing in the sand and nearby forests without the option). They never ran out of hot water. Lovely.Same with laundry, but there's no additional fee to us the laundry. The store here sells beer, including craft beer. This is good to know because Alamosa is about 40 minutes away and the closest place to get good brews. Check out the brewery in that town if you make the trek. They also sell firewood and this is where you rent the sandboards and sleds if you want to do that at the park. You can also get decent AT&T service here, good enough to get things done (as opposed to inside of the park, where even when it reads 2 - 3 bars, the traffic was heavy enough to render it useless). There's a decent playground here with a spectacular view, though how the RV spots are setup, only the guy on the end gets the full on view of the dunes and mountains in the park, and they're really close together.

Luckily, The Great Sand Dune Oasis is just down the road from the Park entrance. There might have been other options further away, but after driving a full day, we were tired. The woman at the Oasis general store was extremely helpful and so genuinely sweet. She allowed us to use a tent site for $25, instead of the $38 RV site, even though we have a camper van. After checking out the tent sites, which were all fairly rocky and unlevel, we decided to shell out the extra $ and take the RV site instead. The tent sites are in the trees, but the RV sites are located all in a row on gravel. Not exactly what I would have liked, but we were desperate. The spots normally have water, but not this time of year, and sewer, as well as included showers and laundry facilities. We didn't use the showers, but I checked them out and they looked very clean and well maintained. The little store has some basic supplies, including eggs, which we needed. Because it was still off season (and a Monday), there were only 2 other RV's, so noise was not an issue at all. Decent cell signal for Verizon.
