We drove all the way up to Sekiu from California to fish with family and friends. They have long term sites at Van Ripers…but since we had driven all that way, we did not want to risk first-come, first-served. So we booked a spot somewhere else. I’m not going to lie, when we first saw Van Riper’s, I told my husband it was “too people-ly” and I was fine with being somewhere else lol. No joke, folks, you are PACKED in there (usually not our style). BUT when a site opened up the next day, we decided to jump on it, and we are so glad we did! Sure you’re packed in. But you’re literally right on the marina (great for early morning fishing) and everyone is super nice (many come year after year and know each other). We loved the fishing (of course), watching boats come in & out of the marina, walking around town, getting ice cream at Curley’s, and breakfast and burgers at the By the Bay Cafe. And we saw bald eagles and whales too! We had an amazing week in Sekiu!

  • Bring your boat, you're parked on the pier!

The tiny village of Sekiu is completely focused on fishing. It has 27 year-round residents and, in the summer, it seems every one of them rents out his little plot of land to the visiting fisher folks in their tents, pop-ups, trailers and motorhomes. If you want full hookups (30amps), the going rate is $35 a night (plus tax). This campground is first come/first serve and space is tight. But, the people are nice and you are literally parked right at the docks & sea wall. There are beaches at either end of the village (a very short walk). Drive up to Neah Bay and visit Cape Flattery (the most north western location in the lower 48). Stop at the Mikah Cultural Center in Neah Bay!The nearest full service grocery store is either in Forks, Neah Bay or Joyce (all a good 40 minute drive) so come prepared. There is one restaurant in town, By the Bay, and they serve a wonderful hamburger and have a very respectable clam chowder.
