Stayed one night. Beautiful lake, nice campground. A lot of familes in the south camp, but it did quiet down by 10PM. Most sites do not have any utilites. Arrival was simple. Staff were friendly and the site was exceptionally clean when we arrived (it looked like the staff had raked it that morning). Site 19 was pull-through and didn't require any blocking to level the trailer. Spent the day at the beach playing in the water and testing out the rental SUP (on-site rental facility at the beach for kayaks and SUPs). There was a roped off wading area that was great for smaller kids. We were here Sun-Tues in August, so the weekend crowds weren't an issue.

  • Excellent camping at a pristine mountain lake

The sites are spacious, nestled in the trees each with large picnic tables and firepits. We stayed in the South Loop and there is a North Loop as well. The campground has nightly movies in the summer, a store with wi-fi access (none in the park) and the lake day use area is only a few steps away. There are kayaks, SUPs and floating toys for rent in the day use yet this lake was so warm, we also just enjoyed swimming in the swimming area. Highlights of the lake are views of Mt Ellinor, excellent kayaking, fishing, rocks perfect from jumping into deep pools, and rope swings along the edge of the lake. The best part was the minimal bugs - we had no mosquito issues and our stay was over the 4th of July.At the north end of the lake is access into the Staircase section of Olympic National Park with incredible hiking, swimming and another campground. The Staircase Rapids Loop trail is an outstanding 2 mile hike along the Skokomish river.
