The good- location is fantastic, staff are friendly. The bad - sites not level, sites with a view, which end up being about $75 a night with taxes, mean that you are not looking into the back of 3 other RVs. No dumpsite on the property, you have to drive rv clear across the other side of the island to the State Park to dump at $5. That would not be so bad if the bathroom facilities on site were good. I cannot say enough bad stuff about the bathrooms. 1.5 minutes per quarter, water is lukewarm and you cannot adjust. One shower was so dark and creepy it could be in a horror movie. The bathhouse itself is uninsulated and has holes in the siding for cold air and mosquitoes to get in, door is a wooden contraption that is wooden slats with space between slats and about a foot of space open on the bottom. So in addition to the lukewarm shower with no water pressure, the building is freezing.Campers have to pay $4 for 25 minutes to use the hot tub. So this place charges the most I have ever seen for a spot, with crappy facilities. Unfortunately on this island the only other place to stay is the state park, which is very nice, shaded on a beautiful lake with showers and a dump station for half the price. I'd stay at a hotel or Airbnb.

The staff is friendly and the location is beautiful. My site was NOT level. It seems if I’m going to be charged $67/night at least a level site should be provided. All the RV sites are gravel surrounded by grass. Their was a large group of tent campers, (Memorial Weekend), who were leaving as I checked in on a Monday. Picnic tables had been relocated, but the friendly staff assisted me in moving a table back to my site. Another this I get frustrated with is $.25 showers. A 7-8 minute shower will cost about $2.00. Again if they are going to charge this much don’t nickel and dime the patrons just provide or raise the nightly rate $5. I feel somewhat violated by all the petty extra charges. I have Verizon cell service and only got 1-bar, (weak signal). The resort provides WIFI, (yay without charge), but at the RV site I only got .63mbps down, 3.73 mbps up. I was hoping to get some work done while I had some quiet time. Summary: friendly & nice, but overpriced.

A secluded cove beach on the west side of Orcas Island! Life is good!Paradise is the word that kept coming up as we enjoyed our time at West Beach Resort! Our first night we enjoyed a large camp fire on the beach while watching the sunset (see picture)! Great staff, nice store (Lopez Island ice cream, yum), lots of water activities, plenty of wildlife (deer, birds, sea life), and the resort has a fun somewhat rustic summer camp feel to it. The type of place families come back to year after year to make memories. We certainly plan to come back again and again! The RV sites are on grass and mostly level. They vary in size, so be sure and let them know how large your RV is and if you'll also have a tent, etc. We saw RVs of all sizes camping here. Sites have water and electric hook-ups, a fire pit, and picnic table. Even though our site was a "non-view" site, we had partial water view. Bathrooms were clean. Showers take quarters. In addition to the RV sites, there are adorable cabins/cottages and tents/yurts. There is a playground, volley ball area, table tennis, and a hot tub. Very dog friendly. If you need strong Wifi or cell reception to work, this is probably not the place for you. There is WiFi, which works best near the office. There is greatly varied Verizon reception. It seemed to work best on the beach or near the office. At rare times we also had 1-2 bars of LTE at our campsite. Sprint often said, "Welcome to Canada." We had little to no AT&T. We knew there would be little to no reception, so planned our trip on a weekend rather than a work week. Be sure and visit Moran State Park! Notes for RVing on Orcas Island*:You will need to make a reservation for a ferry from Anacortes. Camper vans under 22 feet are the same price as a car. RVs larger than that can get a bit expensive.Watch for orcas and other sea life while on the ferry!Places to RV: Moran State Park, West Beach Resort, and Doe Bay Resort (small RVs/camper vans). There may be other places, these are the only ones we have been to and are aware of when writing this review.Best to fill up with gas and buy groceries before taking ferry over to Orcas. There are three gas stations and places to buy groceries on the island, however they are pricey. Ferry terminal has Wifi and cell reception (some of the best on the island). *Disclaimer: Not experts on Rving on Orcas Island, this is just our second time to enjoy this lovely enchanting island. :-)
