We arrived with leaves so deep you couldn’t use the picnic table and the water didn’t work for 3 days as was broken and needed a new part. Bath house and club house at least 35 years old and found dirty underwear on the floor. Pool and surrounding area wasn’t opened but in such poor condition I wouldn’t have used it. Many lots are season. While most were empty, they were trashed and in poor condition. The only positive we’re the people staying there and in usual fashion, we’re nice and friendly. We’re full time so always great to meet others doing the same. Verizon coverage strong and it was quiet. Very sad park; will not return.

We would recommend this campground based on location as it is an easy drive to many of the local attractions and the park is located right off the interstate. We did not find this park to be big rig friendly. The roadways are too narrow and winding. The turns at the ends of the rows are tight at best. We also do not recommend this campground because most of the sites are filled with seasonals and the remaining are quite unlevel. I carry quite a few leveling blocks and boards and had to use them all in order to level our rig. We ended up with a site with 50 amp power and water but no sewer hookup. We therefore tried to dump our gray tank at the dump station on the way out but the dump station only took about 10 gallons then overflowed as it was full. Good thing I wasn't dumping my black tank. I tow a Nissan Sentra and while navigating through the campground in our car we bottomed out and damaged our undercarriage on a water system manhole that was in the center of the lane and covered by the falling leaves. We will definitely will not return to this park.

The park is located just off I-64, but the trees provide some insulation from the noise. Because it is just outside the city, you are away from the most heavily trafficked areas, but still close to area attractions: about 15 minutes to Colonial Williamsburg, 20 minutes from Jamestown, and 30 minutes from Yorktown Battlefield. We had a nice shaded spot that saved us from the HOT summer days and our dogs enjoyed the large open grassy area at the front of the park. The only real downside is the roads which are rather hilly, narrow, and tree-lined and some of the spots are close together.All of the staff we encountered were incredible - especially considering we ended up leaving one night to avoid Tropical Storm Isaias. Laundry is available just inside the door to the office (4 washers and 4 dryers at $2 per load payable with quarters or PayRange app) and staff does accept packages (though note that they are just placed inside the main office door and you do not have to sign anything). Both Verizon and AT&T signals were strong and reliable throughout our stay.

I had read a review, and someone recommended site D5. It is one of the biggest spots in the park (end site, corner lot), and it is right across from the pool and bath house. With the two little ones, this was great. We were sort of “front and center,” but once the weekend crowds cleared out we got to enjoy the convenience as well as quite a bit of privacy. Many spots throughout the park are VERY un-level, and spots in the A loop are quite close to each other. For us, D5 worked out great. Our toddler also enjoyed the playgrounds and mini-golf. The location is great if you plan to visit Colonial Williamsburg or William and Mary. And, it is easy access to many different stores. Overall, we had a good experience and look forward to returning at the beginning of August.

There was only 1 Thousand Trails allocated site remaining when we arrived and it was extremely unlevel.We are full-timers so we're not surprised to find unlevel sites, but we spent over an hour moving the rig around on the site and could never get it level with any amount of blocks or digging (the site has a 5 degree incline from back to front with about 3 degrees side to side and just barely long enough for our 42 ft rig). Luckily the office was kind enough to let us move to another site near the front of the park that was much easier to level.The location is convenient with a Walmart and Lowes off the next exit and all the historical sites are just 20-30 minutes away. We could hear a bit of highway noise when we were outside the rig, but inside we barely noticed any noise and we were near the front of the park.The roads are narrow and it looks like the asphalt hasn't been repaired in years. We went slow and made it around just fine. Some roads are a bit steep and we were close to bottoming out with our longer rig. We did actually scrape the bottom a little from the main road to the entrance but it just left a little mark on the road. No serious damage.

While someone new to pulling an RV might have a few hairs turn grey pulling their rig through the park, once you've been here a couple of times you'll think nothing of the tight turns and narrow roads. I think they look much worse than they really are because we've never come close to hitting anything.For those of you who can't tolerate standing water, don't stay in the upper B loop as there is a depression in the road that holds water for days (one seasonal has a no-wake sign posted). Otherwise the area doesn't hold much water for very long as there is a pretty decent slope to the place. They've worked very hard to make sites level and have improved several, but there are several sites that are out of kilter and you'll need some extra boards for leveling. It's worth it, so deal with it.Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, and Pierces BBQ are all waiting for you. There is a meadary, several wineries, and a few beweries within easy driving distance. The Fat Canary has is slightly pricey, but worth while evening sit-down restaurant. The park has a indoor and outdoor pools, but the indoor hot tub goes down regularly. The store is better than many camp stores but you have to go to the front desk to get in to buy something.There are so many interesting places within a reasonable driving distance that all I'll say is that you should not want for things to do.There is some traffic noise, so light sleepers might not like the campground.WiFi is hit and miss. During some visits it works great and during other visits it's a total waste of money. Cell reception is decent and streaming should not be a problem.Update 6/10/2020 - The pool is closed, but the laundry is open. The camp store is under renovation, but they have a few things available. Busch Gardens is, of course, closed until further notice and more than a few places are closed or have severe restrictions. Pierces is take out only as are a lot of the restaurants. Rumor has it they will be having assigned sites in the near future. Right now they give you a short list of what sites you can use based on your RV length. This allows them to fill the park and not have to turn people away because there aren't enough large sites available.Update 7/12/20 - The pool is now open and VA is in Phase 3 so things are much easier though masks are still required indoors. Williamsburg now assigns sites and changes the gate code every week (no issues there, I'm glad about that). We're in site D15 and the 50amp service has low voltage so our EMS keeps kicking off. The site next door (D16) has problems keeping their three air conditioners running. I've switched over to the 30amp connector in the pedestal and that line seems to be fine, though we can only run 1 AC at a time. It's in the high 80s and low 90s so we are marginally comfortable. Management says they will allow us to move to a different site as soon as one opens up.Update 7/26/20 - Well that didn't last long. They are still assigning sites, but they are no longer changing the gate code every week. The pool is open for three hours at a time: 10am, 1:30pm, and 5pm. The park has been very full for the past several weeks, but it looks like things are starting to slow down a bit. We didn't move because the 50 amp electric has been working well enough to keep us comfortable. The voltage on one of the 50 amp line goes below 108v whenever the temp gets over 95 degrees because everyone in the park is running their AC full tilt. Now that the park is emptying out, the 50amp service is working well.

Many sites are very unlevel. First stay here took exhausting hours trying to find one we could get level in. Bush Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg close by. Depending on the location of your site can effect your stay. Most recently stayed here over Christmas for 11 nights when it wasn't too crowded. Pretty empty park during that time. Happened to have site close to the clubhouse. All was well until some heathen family showed up and then our experience changed. Loud drunk adults, screaming kids crying running around at midnight crashing bikes. Then during the day the family had an entire group of young children all under maybe age 7 outside unsupervised throwing rocks repeatedly next to our motorhome. Told management and they spoke with the family but they really ruined it for the whole park. After several days of this we walked around looking for a more peaceful site and you could still hear the adults drunken screams all over the park. Finally we settled on a quieter site in the way back of the park just to hopefully get one peaceful nights rest before our morning departure. We should've moved sites a lot sooner. Live and learn.

The roads are not in good condition, are almost all gravel or gravel / pavement. The most outstanding feature in the whole place is the swimming pool we enjoyed it several times each day it's kept clean and it's a large size.

We really enjoyed our stay! I especially appreciated the guy that checked me in and drove me around on the golf cart to find a site we would like. I think his name was Chris. Our site was not very level, but with some blocks under the tires we made it work, and we really liked the site being on the end of a row so we had some extra space and didn't feel crowded by a neighbor. We also appreciated having full hookups with 50 amp, and the fact that they let us receive packages there. We enjoyed all the amenities like the indoor pool/hot tub, mini golf and basketball court. The location is great for visiting the historic triangle and Busch Gardens. Verizon and AT&T worked well also. I will add that as is typical with so many Thousand Trails, there are so many sites taken by annual or seasonal renters. It's getting harder and harder to find good sites at TT parks since they seem to rent them all out to long term stationary RVers.

It was the end of the season and our last day there was their last day they were open. We stayed there because it was so close to the Historic Triangle and we had plans in the area.Our stay was ok but I would have liked to have seen it in the summer.  This is an older, slightly rundown campground. It unfortunately looked as if maintenance was slipping but that may have just been because the season was over. The arrival is strange. Gate was broken and no signage to the office, which is buried in the middle of the campground.The indoor pool was good and the hot tub was very hot.  We spent about half of our time at the campground.  Our site was washed out and had large ruts in it and a terrible slope.  We called it the "ankle sprainer". Lots of shade and trees. It had a fire ring but it was three sites down and I had to go get it. Sites were chaotic and not the same, some were larger and most smaller. The game room was nice, laundry and clubhouse were ok.They don't have propane service and we had to drive a bit to find a place that would fill a tank. We were burning through tanks every couple of days. The closest grocery store was about 15 mins away.Verizon was poorLTE 2.1 down 2.4 upNo free internet.My review isn't great but we would stay here again. It is part of our TT membership and the people that work the office were great. We even had an odd piece of mail show up there many weeks after we stayed there and they called us to see if we wanted it. Great touch.

All sorts of things to do outside from tennis courts to shuffle board and more. About 15 minutes to Williamsburg and about the same to Jamestowne. Restaurants and shopping close by. WiFi is $4 a day for one hookup.

The park itself was dated (older roads, electric boxes, several run down / abandoned buildings) but what was in current use seemed to be pretty kept up. Large game room / arcade. The interior roads are on the narrow side. Although the tree limbs were not a problem, the trees themselves made for tight turns. Entry into the park is odd. You call the office on the intercom and they buzz you in through the gate, then you have to drive through the middle of the park to get to the office and then find your spot. Your reservation does not allow you to choose a site until you arrive. The office is extremely organized for a Thousand Trails property. We chose a site near the front. It was an extremely wide end site, so it felt very spacious and we were able to look out at the beautiful foliage on the trees. There was a large grass field across from us and meadows on the other side of that. Autumn is beautiful here. The playground is lame for kids, however it was easy to bike and run around the campground. As I mentioned, you will need extra leveling blocks, we actually had to order more from Amazon Prime. The utilities worked fine. Some sites have cable (you can pay an additional $3 per day for cable), our site did not. The office will show you which site have that option and which do not. The laundry room was adequate, however it is very expensive at $2 per wash plus $2 per dry. We loved the location here. As with most Thousand Trails Properties, the sites are narrow...however if you find an end site, it's a lovely rustic feel where you cannot resist being around the campfire every night. Newport News is 25 minutes away and has every store you could need while on the road. Jamestown is a wonderful place to visit and is very scenic. Our rate of $3 reflects what we paid per night, as we have a Thousand Trails zone pass.
