This campground is new since we last visited Smith Mountain Lake. It's quite an improvement over what used to be available and the price reflects the limited number of good campgrounds within a few minutes of SML. The sites are fairly level, wide and have an extra space for parking your car. Utilities were in excellent shape and the park amenities were in good condition (pool, pavilion, fenced in dog walk, and children's play area). If you want a clear DirecTV signal, ask for a site closer to the road (there is little road noise). Shannon and Emmett were very friendly and made sure we knew there was a band scheduled to play on Friday night. Very nice people. As mentioned in other reviews, call for directions so that you don't take Toler's Ferry Road, which is 13 miles of unmarked twisty, narrow, white knuckle driving (yeah, we didn't call first). If you do miss the entrance, the next good turnaround is about three miles. Restaurants and grocery stores are within 30 minutes and the prices there also reflect the resort prices of SML.Recommend you make reservations well in advance.

Great camp ground. Very new, so very little shade. Great playground equipment and pool.
