This campsite is great if you’re going to the park. They have a free shuttle to and from the park which is really awesome. Some of the sites are small and rustic but the hookups are sufficient. It’s nice and woodsy but pretty noisy being near the highway, the theme park and a train track. I wouldn’t go out of my way to stay here unless...moreThis campsite is great if you’re going to the park. They have a free shuttle to and from the park which is really awesome. Passing through and this was an overnight stay. Campground was attractive but we didn't explore.

  • Great for a stopover or homebase for sight-seeing

The Wifi was fair (about 3M/sec up and down) but my AT&T signal was decent. The pull-through sites have opposing entry so that rigs next to each other share hookups. While it can get a little cluttered in between, it does prevent your picnic table from being on top of someone else’s sewer hookup. It is a little pricey, though. The location of this park, being near I-95, seems to serve as a good stopover point for those travelling up and down the Eastern coast and we met a lot of people doing just that. Many travellers are here one day and gone the next. The premium site we had came with a good size fire pit and a very nice, large Weber propane grill (propane included, believe it or not).Camp store is well-stocked and bathrooms are clean, although there was something going on with the hot water in one of them (as in, no hot water). Although we aren’t into amusement parks, this campground sits right next to Kings Dominion with shuttle service to the park.

Our campsite backed up to the tent camp sites, and there were no campers, so we had quite a bit of empty space behind us. There are lots of tall trees that provide excellent shade. There was very little to differentiate one spot from another, like no grass or markings between the spots. The amenities looked nice, and stayed busy. We took advantage of the dog park, which was large enough for our boxer-lab mix to run and chase. The shuttle that ran to the park was invaluable, with friendly drivers. Great stay! If we come back to KD we will definitely choose to stay here!

We are not normally KOA fans as we find them crowded and often on top of the freeway. This campground was a pleasant surprise with large, level sites and many trees. It was so nice and quiet. We came in late and their after hours process was very clear and quick. WiFi worked great, but very few people there so that may have contributed...moreWe are not normally KOA fans as we find them crowded and often on top of the freeway. Tons of trees, level site, we came during off season so we had the place almost to ourselves but the sites have some close together for sure which is typical of most KOAs. Large park, easy to get to, reliable amenities and clean bathrooms.
