We booked a site at this campground over 6 months in advance. I should have known better when they required the entire amount up front instead of the normal deposit. I had to cancel my reservation 2 1/2 months prior to going, which is a very advance notice! I called the office and was told they would cancel my reservation and refund my $. Then the next day I received an email from the office stating that they do not refund any $ if the reservation was made over 90 days previously!!! What type of “rule” is this? They are refusing any sort of refund and it seems like they are “double dipping” by rebooking the sites after they have collected the money. This is no way to do business and we do not recommend dealing with a corrupt park like this. It cost us almost $300!

The reviews werent the greatest on this park to begin with, but we were traveling with a couple other friends and wanted to visit Stowe on our way through New England. Never planning on cancelling, I admittedly never read the cancellation policy, but now that I am aware, I want to make sure no one experiences what we did!! Made the reservation on 2/15, and today May 23 had to cancel because of the uncertainty with diesel. Reservation was for August 7-10 (2 1/2 months from now). Deposit was payment in full... $171.00. Refund was $0.00!! Had I reserved last month, I would get all but $10.00 back, but because I reserved over 90 days ago, they keep the full amount! Makes no sense!! Planners BE CAREFUL!! I get losing a deposit or a part of a deposit when cancelling a couple weeks in advance, but to collect the whole amount and then not refund a dime because its been over 90 days since I called, despite two months notice...thats robbery!! Im fine with a cancellation fee, but payment in full with 75 day notice is pretty harsh (our friends were staying longer and lost 290.00!). Our plan is to go next year and we will definitely not plan to stay at Gold Brook, nor will we recommend to anyone in fear they too will lose so much money.

  • Absolutely wonderful! We even extended our stay!

Travel trailer, unannounced and no reservation, nearing closing time, and desperately looking for a place that could accommodate our length as well as our 4 slides. We knew that we were pushing our luck and were mentally prepared for a negative response to our arrival and requests. Much to my surprise, Naomi greeted us with the brightest, most welcoming eye smile! She was wearing her mask and was practicing her social distance (which I very much appreciated because I am very immunocompromised), so I couldn’t see her full face but her welcome was genuine and she was happy to try and help us! The only FHU site remaining that night, was an odd shaped site that she was hesitant to let us rent due to our size and slides. She suggested we look at it first and let us make that decision. Wow! Instead of rushing a sale and hurrying to close the doors, she was very patient and considerate of our comforts!!! It turned out that site would not work, unfortunately. Even though we were desperate, we also respect our neighbors and didn’t want to encroach upon their space with one of our slides. We came back to the office and thanked her for her kindness and her time. She had one more suggestion that she was VERY hesitant to offer because it is right next to the main road and was electric only. Site 0. She reluctantly asked if we wanted to go look at it to decide if it would be too close to the road or too noisy for our liking. My husband went and looked at it and when he came back, he gave it two thumbs up!! We did the paperwork and off we went to get settled in. Those sites by the road are massive! We put our trailer parallel to the road and then set up our chairs on the other side of the camper and we literally felt as if we had a large section of the park all to ourselves! We loved it!! She warned us about the road noise, but truthfully, it was no worse that staying at a luxury RV Park that is right next to the highway/ interstate. In fact, the traffic became practically non existent around 10:30 pm. and was nice and quiet until about 8:00 am the next morning! If you are a light sleeper, bring a set of earplugs and you should be fine! We utilized their spotless laundry facilities and it was only $2 per wash and $2 per dry! We also took advantage of their nice shower house! One of the rooms was large enough for a family or two large adults to fit into. I take care of developmentally disabled adult and we were very grateful for that extra space! We admired their gorgeous pool from the fence and made a mental note that the next time we make it to Vermont, we will bring our bathing suites and just spend a whole day here at the park soaking up the sun and their beautiful grounds... and of course reserve site 0 in advance ;) Thank you Naomi (and your brother, who I didn’t catch his name) for your incredible customer service and the phenomenal beauty of this park! We will definitely recommend this place to others and will be back just as soon as we can ☺️

We had a great time camping at Gold Brook. It was easy to get in and out of town, had clean bathrooms, and was very quiet. We stayed on a site with w/e hook-up. They also offer full hook up!

If the park was empty, or maybe half-full, it would have been lovely. But it wasn't empty or half-full. (Although it was never at capacity while we were there, either). This is a 3.5-star place for us.Almost every RV site at this park is a 'buddy site'. (There are a few electric/water sites near the front of the park (1-5) which are not buddy style but are also very unlevel and very close to the road.) Which makes it weird if you're not camping with a buddy. And also makes it very loud when you have a neighbor. You see, most RVs these days have and utilize things like heaters and AC systems, and these things tend to be a bit noisy. This RV park is set up so that two rigs share a power and water pedestal - they're 'back to back' with doors opening towards the other neighbor's door. So, if you've got a neighbor who uses their AC and heat... you're going to hear it. All night. Heater on, heater off, heater on, heater off. It's maddening. The road abutting this campground is also weirdly loud. Tons of diesel engines passing through, and engine brakes are in use at times. We were unimpressed by the management at the park; the gentleman that shimmies around in his golf cart is friendly, but very 'go ask someone else' if you have a question or concern. When we were attempting to leave the park after our stay, another big rig ignored the (admittedly very awkward) campground road signage indicating you should enter past the Office, which caused a game of chicken and a traffic jam; the campground staff ignored this hubbub (we ended up driving the wrong way down the 'one-way' entrance into the park to free up the issue). Also, apparently, you should contact the park via their Facebook page to 'request' a preferred campsite. Otherwise, you're assigned the dregs of what's left. We didn't know to request a campsite, so we spent a week with people filtering in-and-out of the 'better' sites surrounding us during their single night stays - which is fine other than the terror it caused to continually have people attempt to back or pull their rigs into close proximity of our own (we witnessed two 'accidents' - thankfully single rig style). The playground is nice, and the pool appeared clean. The tent sites towards the back of the park are pretty private. This park was honestly just too much $$ for too little service and too much noise and awkwardness. Verizon signal was solid for data use.

We ended up being placed in the 'upper lot' with the highway as our view. Plenty of noise as traffic ran all night, including big rigs. Because of Covid, no one is in the office, and they don't answer their phone. Avoid sites 0-7. They are hard to level (uneven lawn), and too close to the highway. There isn't even a screen of vegetation. If you can get a spot further into the campground, it might be more packed, but you'd be away from the road. Also, there is no wifi this far away from the office. There is only 1 washing machine, which was busy each time we looked. We built a lot of the trip around this place, but were disappointed. We feel that because we aren't regulars, we got second class treatment.

We stayed here one night as we were exploring the Stowe area. We experienced great customer service, great showers (although in an older bldg, but very clean) great tv connection and wifi. The laundry room looked great and the yards was freshly mowed. We have a motorhome without a tow vehicle but could easily bike the 2 miles to Stowe.

Playground for those with children. 2 miles away from the town of Stowe. And just 15 mins from Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Each site is provided with a fire pit. Wood and Ice for purchase on site. Great open landscape on green grass sites. Level with great satellite reception. Solar panels fully charging. Staff provided great local recommendations from biking to swimming holes to breweries. Updates are being made by the family who runs this campground. Bathrooms are older but very clean. We were happy campers and will definitely be back here again!

With that said, the place is convenient to the resort town of Stowe, Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream factory is about 5 minutes down the road. Sites are nice and large, grass is very well kept, clean swimming pool, OK outdated showerhouse. Good luck finding a website for this place. The owner says he keeps it as a private "intranet" website so people can't see it ????? Might explain why in mid Aug. there were only a few other RVers there. If the owners advertised, had a public updated website and modernized the showerhouse the place would be hopping. There are really no other campgrounds in the area with services. There are two Vermont State near by but are dry camping only.
