Calling around Payson to locate a fresh water fill, I call Payson CG & RV Resort. They charge $10 for 40 gallons. (Discovered Speedway gas station no longer has fresh water fill option.) Go to office to pay, then they will direct you to water fill site.

The staff was working constantly trimming trees, filling rain wash outs, etc.Asked about a nice day trip. They suggested Wood Canyon Lake. Giving it 10 stars.

Camp site had such poor electric that we had to run the generator to make dinner. AC kept going off and on. NO refund!!! I’m the fool. Left after a cold dinner to drive home. No camping this weekend. What an awful experience with greedy people.

First off, great pool! Some sites, including ours were very narrow, but others in the park, especially at the bottom of the slight hill are good sized. Nice showers. All gravel. Not a blade of grass around, if you have picky dogs like I do. All in all, would stay there again.

Our site was so small we had great difficulty positioning our rig so that the slides would extend. The dude who was supposed to help us get settled left before the rig was positioned. There was no room to sit outside, no table or anything just the narrow dirt driveway. We reserved a pull through but were told we needed to unhook our toad to squeeze into the site. Kind of defeats the purpose of pull through if you ask me. Will not stay again. Much better camping.options in the National Parks just up the road.

Pulled in for just the night on our way through and it cost us $65! We were told we had to park in a specific space to “accommodate our length and power requirements”. There were other less expensive sites that accommodated our length but they were for 30 amp rigs. They will not let you use a pigtail to go down to 30 amps. We didn’t need a 50 amp site or even sewer but were forced to pay the highest price in the place. Watch for all their fees too! The $51 site plus extra person fee, online reservation fee (they made us do this instead of taking care of it in the morning since we came in after hours), city tax, lodging tax and sales tax! Total over $65! We did finally receive a $5.40 AAA discount. Still ridiculous. Don’t stay here!

He is efficient, friendly and we appreciated that he took such great care of the grounds while we were there. Their bathrooms were spotless and so was the laundry room. Their dog 'areas' are rather small which would be best for tiny dogs, if you have a large dog; there is a dog park not far from the RV park you could drive to. Located in town, you are nearby shopping, restaurants and groceries. I would recommend this location.

On site staff was very patient and understanding with a couple of questions, ensuring we initially got set up ok. The park entrance is well marked and once into the park the traffic noise from Hwy 260 dissipates. I actually appreciate and prefer the lack of pavement, as well we really like the abundance of trees in the park, so if your RV is a pavement princess, look elsewhere. Our only observation would be that if your pulling an older toy hauler or a lifted one like ours that has a steep ramp angle to begin with, we would recommend unloading / loading toys up top by the office where there is more flat ground to get a better ramp angle. Verizon cell service worked just fine, no clue 4G, 3G or whatever, it worked good enough to search for a new dually...lol.

We wanted to get out of the Phoenix area for some cooler weather while still being close to conveniences since we haven't purchased our towed vehicle yet. We were within walking distance of several good restaurants and a gas station, so we had no need for an additional vehicle. The facilities were well kept. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We did not use the WiFi, but cell service was great. The park was very clean and overall quiet. However, our particular spot was on the southwest side of the park, which is near a car wash. During the day, you could clearly hear the air dryer of the car wash almost constantly. It wasn't a big deal, but it certainly reminds you that you are close to town. We would definitely stay here again.

The restrooms are first class clean and the front office is freshly renovated. For $42 I feel like the sites should have been paved, but the gravel is neatly raked and level. They are a bit too close together for my taste, but we're the kind that would rather be in a state park or out in BLM territory if we could find it. The folks up front are super nice, and the check in process was easy. You feel like you're in the forest but Safeway is just up the street. Four stars is just for the slightly too high price. We got the Good Sam discount but no additional discount was offered when we said we wouldn't even hook up to any services. But I'm nitpicking. We'd stay again in a heartbeat.

Once you pull off of Highway 260, just East of the Giant gas station, you will pull up the driveway to the office. After checking in you drop down into the campground of established trees. The entrance acts as a buffer between the city and the campground. Sound doesn't seem to reach over the small hill entrance.I'm traveling full time in a 32-foot 5th wheel and asked for a site with 50 amp service, which is what I got. The road after the campground can be a little bumpy and is composite dirt and small gravel and well as the individual sites. They do have camping here in tents as well but there were very few campers here this time of year and it seemed like much of the campground was closed for the season. The campground offers several restrooms with showers, however, I didn't go in the one that was open. The grounds were very well kept, other than a few bumps in the road probably caused by the weather (rain and snow). Some of the sites seem a little small but most pretty normal size for an older established private campground. They also have a pool that I didn't visit either.During my stay, there was a record snowstorm and cold spell in the teens at night leaving trailers pretty much snowbound for a few days. When asked, the management plowed an exit for trailers and sprinkled some dirt down to assist pulling the trailer out. They seemed very accommodating.

  • Very nice for our first time using the travel trailer.

We really liked the park! The staff was friendly and they helped us back in. We had no issues with the 50amp pedestal, the water or the sewer. Our site, and all other empty sites, were raked and clean. They said quiet hours were after 10pm, but the place was never loud, very peaceful.Cars were not speeding around like other websites said, therefore the dust wasn't that bad. I do think some spaces were very tight and peoples tables were very close to each other. But our site (#29) was specially good, we had plants to one side, and some building on the other, very private. There were about 10 to 15 full timers on the site (we walked the whole park), but their sites looks fairly clean, except for 2 or 3 of them. Safeway grocery store is just a 3 min drive of 10 min walk. Same thing for Bashes and other stores and restaurants.

Plenty of trees and good privacy in some spots.Dog runs are small, but I ended up walking my dog around the park with no issues. Plus, there are some great trails across the street at the Forestry Service Ranger station if you want to get your dog off the lead.We were in #43 and it was wonderful - full hook up with 50amp. If you're in a tent or small camper I'd recommend #91 - incredibly secluded :)We'd absolutely stay here again if we're ever in Payson again!
