Nothing fancy here, just a quiet and clean place to spend the night. Slept like a baby. Would return again, although it is quite far from any towns, eateries, stores, etc.

There is a newer area that is a big parking lot, no trees just gravel spot with hookups and a strip of grass, not our thing, but some people like that because it keeps your roof from getting dirty. There is also a older area that is wooded and that's where we spent the majority of our 13 weeks at Broad River. The campsite has a very reasonable laundry facility. There are good stable hookups at all sites. The thing that I enjoyed about the Campground the most were the people. The staff go out of there way to help you any way they can. Our truck broke down 10 miles from camp and staff came to help me work on it, which is going way beyond the call of duty, but it is just the way they are, great down to earth people. The only downside "for us" was that is was a bit of a drive to go into town to shop, but nothing real bad if you've ever lived in the country. 20-30 minutes for food or 10-15 for fuel. For many that's a plus. For the staff alone, I would recommend Broad River.

  • We loved it!

Staff is amazing, the laundry area and bathrooms are always clean, and the grounds are well maintained. Close enough to the city that you have access to all Columbia has to offer, but far enough away that you have peace and quiet, stars in the sky, wildlife, safety, and privacy.

  • Great campground to relax or an extended stay.

The campground is very large with options for shade, partial shade, and lots of full sun. The owner and staff are extremely accommodating and very friendly. The rates are very reasonable, and since the electric and plumbing are very new, we had no problems with surges or foul tasting water. They have a large fenced in dog park, a play area for kids, a basketball hoop, and a bocce ball area! The office area has 3 bathrooms with showers and 3 washer and dryer sets. If you are passing through, I would not hesitate to stay here. The location is also near the Peak trailhead of the Palmetto trail (which we visited multiple times) which is great for exercise, turtle watching from the bridge, and kayak launch to the Broad River. Couple things to add, never felt “un-safe”, didn’t see mowers breaking windows, and there were no break-ins. The nearest gas stations and grocery stores are about 15 miles (20 minutes) away, but that just means you have to be prepared. It also means you aren’t camping in a metropolis, bonus!

I advise to steer clear of this place. Although convenient to VC Summer Nuclear Generating Station, it's 30+ minutes from any town or gas station. Management is never on site, internet is filtered through an iBoss system as if we are 12 year old children, not family friendly (no picnic tables, playgrounds, not even a field to play kickball in). "Bathhouse" is an old trailer the owner pulled onto site that has ONE filthy bathroom that doesn't even have a lock on the door. Laundry facilities are two washers and dryers that are not only ridiculously expensive, but are constantly breaking down - and good luck getting a refund! Owner charges a "meter fee" on your electric, and nobody knows why. Some of the other guests here are iffy, so I highly suggest a CCW permit. Does not have appropriate drainage so when it rains, it floods. Maintenance man mows with his chute open and has broken several camper windows because of rocks flinging out of it. Sites are decent sized, but are uneven gravel. It's also pretty quiet, aside from random break-ins.
