I would stay here again during the winter special pricing because the price is great for the location. Just be aware that you are staying in an old park with things that break down frequently. If the amenities at a park aren't a big deal to you and you only shower and use the bathroom in your camper then this place is perfect for the price and location! The Good: The park itself is in a beautiful and quiet location with trees and grass everywhere with river access. The spots are fairly level and spacious. San Marcos is the perfect location to stay if you want to visit Austin, San Antonio, and hill country like we did. The staff are friendly and helpful even though they were a bit overworked and understaffed when we were there. They sell firewood onsite which is nice. The Bad:They make you sign something saying that you won't say anything bad about the park. They give a whole speech about how they wouldn't bad mouth you on social media so they expect you to do the same. Except I'm not a business offering a service to the public so that logic doesn't even make sense. Part of the reason we booked this park was because of the amenities offered (indoor pool, hot tub, private jacuzzi tubs, game room, dog park, wifi). We stayed a little over a month and the pool heater was broken for 3 weeks of our stay. The hot tub and wifi was down for 2 weeks of our stay. They weren't allowing people to use the jacuzzi tubs. Something to keep in mind when booking this park is that all the facilities are old which means that things are breaking and being fixed constantly. My point here is, don't count on the amenities being available here during your stay. There are only 2 bathroom/shower rooms for the whole park with around 100 sites. That means that if 2 people are showering then you have to wait on them to finish to use the bathroom. There were sometimes lines in the morning for the showers. As mentioned above, things break in an old park so there were a couple times during our stay where only 1 bathroom/shower was operational.

We can stay here during the week, work during the day, soak ourselves in the river each evening. While the San Marcos River can have its crowds, it isn't nearly as busy as the Guadalupe River so this location suits us just fine. This park is close enough to San Marcos for all the conveniences, but far enough away to be quiet. The main section of the park is wooded with large pecan trees while there are a couple of open sections with no trees at all.Check in and check out experience is mostly contactless. The Park Office has sporadic hours so be prepared to leave a message or handle everything on their website. Aside from that, when the office is open, the folks inside are generally nice and helpful.RV Park amenities are nice for what we need (mainly a laundromat). Like many RV Parks, the wi-fi and internet isn't adequate for work, but is good enough for checking email. I carry a Verizon hotspot to be able to work, but only got 2 bars of signal strength. With my cell booster, I get a nice 5 bars.I am not sure I would consider this a "negative" per se, but most sites are occupied by permanent and long term residents. There are numerous sites that seem to be used as RV storage. The negative comes into play when booking. When everything is occupied by long term residents, it can sometimes be difficult to book here (especially in the summertime). In that regard, I guess that speaks to the attractiveness of this park. People want to be here.

We were at San Marcos for a family wedding and were sort of duped into paying $350 for a week, and the phone person hinted the site might not be there if we didn't go in for the week. Turns out there were lot of sites available and we could have paid by the day and saved money. Other than that, the CG was OK and had more space that usual between sites. There are sites in open field (satellite dishes can work there) or in grove of huge pecan trees.Only 5 miles into San Marcos. Unlike some of the other reviewers, we did not find an over abundance of rules. Other than in wallet, this was a painless camping experience. There are several other CGs in the area, but Pecan Park is off the interstate and in the country. San Marcos River runs along the back side of the CG. Nice spot. Big tubing and kayaking business there, so big weekends likely in summer.

The Park is just outside San Marcos, Texas, and is large and established. There are sections of the Park with large trees, and other sites that are without tree coverage. The Park sits next to the San Marcos River, and experienced flooding two times in 2016, so there are currently repairs going on down by the river. The staff seems friendly and helpful, but are strict about their rules. This Park hosts a lot of Winter Texans, who stay for a few or many months at a time. However, there are still lots of people coming and going each day.Our site was close to the office and on the main entrance to one section of the park. The site wasn't completely level (they are all gravel), but we were able to manage to get things fairly level. We stayed in a 40-ft motorhome. Around the gravel parking space, each unit has some grass, and most have picnic tables. The facility has a small but newer laundry, and indoor pool and hot tub (we did not use them), and an Activities Director for various events throughout each month. Staff patrol the park and keep it clean and trimmed. There are 2 fenced dog parks, and otherwise dogs must be on leashes. San Marcos has many great places to eat and probably one of the biggest outlet malls I have ever seen.
Tight spots, expensive, but convenient to San Marcos. Beautiful San Marcos river nearby. 40 minutes to Austin.

Their signage around the park is a tad passive aggressive. The park is close to San Marcos, which is a perfect place to run errands. The nearby San Marcos River was quick flowing while we were there with beautifully blue water. They have different levels of sites available (standard, deluxe, premium, etc). I honestly couldn't tell the difference between them. We stayed in a Premium, but it wasn't premium by my definition. We were 10 yards from each of our neighbors. The wifi was terrible (no surprise), so we lived off of our Verizon Jetpack for the week. The best part of this park was the hot tub.Bonus: there are pecan trees everywhere. If you find a good one on the ground, crack it open with your travel mug and eat the freshest pecan you'll ever try.
Floods. Beware. Avoid if possible.

If you have to stay overnight in San Marco, TX, this park might be suitable for you. I would pull in and look around before making a reservation. Some people have had issues with staff. Read all reviews and make an informed decision.
Right on the river and close to town, with close neighbors and okay staff.

The indoor pool is a plus and they have a bath-warm kiddy pool, which my kids loved. The laundry room had brand new machines, and lots of them.My only hesitation here is with the staff. We weren't aware they didn't allowed dogs to be outside the trailer unaccompanied, and the worker in the golf cart informed me of this is a slightly peculiar -almost creepy - way. I wouldn't have thought much of my encounter until I got a weird vibe from another very grumpy worker in the laundry room and pool area. I also heard a pretty bad story about the staff cussing out a guest whom they were kicking out because he had a home-built trailer (but I didn't personally witness this). But, again, my quasi-negative experiences weren't enough to ruin our stay or ultimately thwart us from staying here again. AND I should note that the owner had seen my Instagram photos and recognized me while playing at the park with my kids. He came over and thanked me for the images and made sure we were having a stay, so that was nice.Anyway, great spot for kids, great proximity to anything you could need in town, and right on the river. Good times.

We're glad we ended up here, and we extended our stay to three weeks instead of one. The park is pretty, the location is secluded and quiet, and yet it's a 5-10 minute drive to town for Walmart, restaurants, gas, etc. It's about 30 minutes to the southern parts of Austin. We were put in a new section that had just opened a week or two earlier, so we had no patio, picnic table, etc. and the grass was still trying to grow in from seed so it was a bit muddy when it rained, but we had most of the section to ourselves which was nice. All the staff we worked with were very friendly and helpful, and all the other residents we ran into were friendly too. The dog park is one of the larger ones we've seen at an RV Park, and our young Lab loved playing ball there twice a day. The river was too shallow and rocky for our dog to swim or play in. We'd stay here again.

First of all, the park itself is quiet, tucked at the edge of San Marcos so it's right near everything without feeling busy. It's on the edge of the San Marcos River, just a short walk downhill from the campground, and although we didn't get to take advantage of the canoeing service in the winter, it looked convenient. The park has standard amenities (full hookups, best internet we've had at a park yet, decent cable, laundry, club house, showers, activity room) and some not-as-standard ones (indoor heated pool, hot tub, gazebos, outdoor movie theater, dog park). The sites aren't huge, but they're spaced out well enough that we never felt like we were on top of our neighbors--even the ones behind us. The stately pecan trees give plenty of shade for the rigs in most of the sites.Next, the people. The park has great hosts, giving a real personal touch to the park. We had a nice time getting to know them during our stay. The office staff is totally on it, calling us every time a package arrived and even sending someone to help us back into our spot upon our request. There are plenty of restaurants close by, as well as a grocery store. We enjoyed eating at The Root Cellar (good date night!) and Centerpoint Station (burgers, shakes, country store). Downtown San Marcos has interesting shops, and for the more adventuresome, check out nearby Jacob's Well in Wimberley (40 min drive) and Hamilton Pool in Marble Falls (1 hr). New Braunfels is close with plenty to do, including a Camping World for resupplying, and San Antonio is just an hour away. The only tough thing was our spot was hard to back into because of awkwardly placed speedbumps. This is probably not a problem at all sites, though.
