Located in the Rio Grande Valley (RGB), we stayed two weeks at the Fun-N-Sun RV Resort in San Benito, Texas. A premier snowbird destination, Fun-N-Sun RV Resort is located about 36 miles west of South Padre Island and it’s spectacular Gulf beaches. Verizon cellular service clocked in at 3.50 Mbps download speed and 2.55 Mbps upload s...moreLocated in the Rio Grande Valley (RGB), we stayed two weeks at the Fun-N-Sun RV Resort in San Benito, Texas. A premier snowbird destination, Fun-N-Sun RV Resort is located about 36 miles west of South Padre Island and it’s spectacular Gulf beaches. Verizon cellular service clocked in at 3.50 Mbps download speed and 2.55 Mbps upload speed. AT&T cellular service clocked in at 173 Mbps download speed and 21.2 Mbps upload speed. T-Mobile cellular service clocked in at 104 Mbps download speed and 31.3 Mbps upload speed.

POSITIVES* People are friendly (aren't all winter Texans?)* There are endless activities available and clubs to join.* The park provides facilities (rooms) for the clubs/activities.* Free internet and cable through Spectrum.NEGATIVES* The roads are narrow, poorly lit, and full of potholes.* Sidewalks are rare and more t...morePOSITIVES* People are friendly (aren't all winter Texans?)* There are endless activities available and clubs to join.* The park provides facilities (rooms) for the clubs/activities.* Free internet and cable through Spectrum.NEGATIVES* The roads are narrow, poorly lit, and full of potholes.* Sidewalks are rare and more than once guests have been hit by bicycles and golf carts.* This park has problems with deferred maintenance. Plumbing and electrical outages are common.* The club's are run and funded by volunteer's - management rarely has money for help.* Many old park models and RV's that need to be removed.RV SPECIFICPhotos on the site do not represent the typical RV site. There are only 19 RV sites with cement pads for the RV. Maybe only half of the spots have cement pads for a patio, otherwise it is just a grass. No grills or picnic tables.SUMMARYThe people are friendly and their are clubs and activities for everyone. BUT, the facilities need to be updated and kept in repair. WAY overpriced compared to other parks.

Everything about Fun N Sun is top notch! The pool and hot tub, the activities, the dog park, the laundry facilities, sewing room, remote control track, the shuffle board courts, and on and on. The pool and hot tub, the activities, the dog park, the laundry facilities, sewing room, remote control track, the shuffle board courts, and on and on. There are activities going on daily that you can pick and choose from. There is a nice mix of nomads and seasonals and annuals and everyone is so friendly and welcoming. The staff is some of the best we have ever experienced in any campground. We are already planning to return next year.
