Since TT is pick your own spot the ranger was able to recommend some spaces he knew were open to accommodate my 41ft 5th wheel. Arrived at space which was large enough to accommodate pretty much any size rig. Site was a little un-level to the passenger side but not unmanageable. Got set up and explored the campground. Many amenities here for the kids and nice views of the lake to take dog for walks. Dumpsters all over for easy trash disposal. Roads are a little rough but plenty large enough to maneuver. Biggest downsides are there is not much around. Emory is about 15 mins away and has small town feel but not much there. Closest WalMart is about 35-40 minute drive. Lastly the park only has 4 washers and dryers for the entire park, which are old. Had to put clothes through dryer twice to fully dry. Overall very relaxing stay and will stay again when we are next in TX.

This was a pretty good campground for us to live and work for 2 weeks. The roads will keep you at their 5mph limit. Not sure I could have worked from my Verizon hotspot but luckily I didn’t need to with our AT&T plan and roof antenna. Laundry room was a bit damp and there were only a handful of machines for a park that can hold over 100 RVs. No propane on site (even though there is a tank by the guard shack). You’ll have to go 15 min or so into Emory to get filled up. We used Potts and they were great. There are hiking trails that lead you to some beaches which we did almost every day. All in all, it’s a quite location with some great views. Just don’t expect any of the buildings so be that nice or not smell like mold.

Very happy to be staying under new management. The place is staying mowed, bathrooms are always fresh and well-stocked. Pool and pool area is always clean and comfortable. The staff are always accommodating and friendly.

There are picnic tables and fire rings in our area, plus some extra picnic tables over by the water for enjoying meals by the lake. Many things to like about this park. The wifi is nearly nonexistent away from the bathhouses and activity rooms. Cell service on anything but ATT is unusable. AT&T had exceptional service though, varying between 5-125 Mbp/s, usually on the higher end of that (above 25 almost always). It has been usable. Verizon/Visible have really struggled while Sprint has been able to get a signal around 1-3 Mbps most of the time. The park has sufficient dumpsters but bathrooms seem quite spread out. Arrival was easy - gate person was friendly. I suggest finding a spot on the water, even if you pay a daily premium site fee. The water sites really do make this park worth it.5MPH speed limit that seems to be strictly enforced. Big ball field/driving range and other amenities that aren't open right now due to COVID. Access to grocery store is available in Quinlan, maybe 20 minutes away or a dollar store about 4 miles away. Laundry room was older with older machines, quarters only and no change machine. There are some monster potholes, but you are going 5 MPH so we didn't have any trouble. Our site pad was sunken in on one side, making it not level but it was correctable.

Most of the "amenities" (mini-golf, volleyball, horseshoes) looked like that haven't been serviced in a few years. I keep going back to the roads, though. UGH!

However, like many TTs, the roads are run down, not many 50amp, sites, unlevel and tree limbs low. However, staff was amazing! Greeter at gate was helpful and so nice. Park manager found us parking and directed us to a 50 amp and he and maintenance guy cut a low hanging limb so we could get in. A seasonal told us new manager wanted to improve things; hope that happens but we will be back. We have a 44 foot motorhome.

We paid $15.00 for 1 week of Camplink wifi and it worked ok most of the time. My AT&T phone had 2 bars but we didn't try the hotspot. Could only program Fox for over the air TV channels. The campground staff also allowed us to wash our RV and tow car free of charge. Thank you so much! All amenities were closed due to Covid-19 except for 2 pools.

Turns out that is the speed limit anyway. 30 amp electric only which was ok as it was spring with cool weather. Could not image being here in summer though.Verizon was hit or miss meaning really fast or really slow if you could connect at all so be aware of that. ATT was good in my spot.

The park is huge, has tons of lakefront and trails to walk. We really liked our spot, which had water views and plenty of space. The rangers seemed to be frequently visible throughout the park during the day and there is a regular schedule of events to partake in. We even met the Preserve Manager, who was super-friendly and welcoming. This park is in the middle of nowhere, so if you're trying to get away from it all, this is the place for you. It is a bit of a haul to the more populated areas outside of Dallas, but we did embark over to Rockwall a couple of times to eat out while we were there. There are some grocery stores within 20 minutes in the smaller nearby towns. Like many Thousand Trails parks, this one is on the older side, but it's really so big it just felt like staying in a state park. We went for walk/hikes everyday, multiple times and rarely covered the same ground. Lake Tawakoni is massive and pretty nice to look at. There are also separate adult and family centers with pools. Our only complaints would be that both community centers seemed to have a lot of wasp nests under the awnings, and there was a little clutter building up in the laundry room (seemed like people were leaving old electronics/furniture thinking they would get used (who knows, maybe they do). Even though we work full-time while traveling, we found this place to be very relaxing.

It is located on a beautiful lake and there is good catfish fishing off the shoreline. About an hour outside of Dallas and Tyler. Both locations have fun activities to partake in. Verizon data was usable for work(~2 sometimes 3 mbps) and the site wifi was always 3mpbs+ from the lodge. There were a lot of poisonous snakes and bugs in the evening. The playground and family areas need more upkeep. Both pools were closed for the season... it was 80degrees+. Also there was severe weather half the time we were there in early May (not the best time to be there). I would have given this 3.5 maybe 4 stars if the pools were open. That would have blocked out the negatives.

To say the park is out of the way is an understatement, but that was what we were looking for. Upon arrival, we checked in, got our information and were told to select our own site. We started in one loop, but then decided to head toward one of the lakefront loops. We were told the other lakefront loop was mostly full and that is where the annual units are. Driving through the loop, we found many of the sites were unavailable, signaled by a plastic bag on the utility pole. We found a site, but going into the loop to the right wasn't the correct direction, so my husband had to exit the loop, turn around and come back in going to the left. We loved our site, it was longer than we needed and very wide. We were right on the lake, so we had room and clear skies to put the satellite out, while still having trees above us. The site looked like it was asphalt at one time, but it hadn't been maintained. The hookups are 30 amp with water and sewer. During our stay we had to reset the breaker and all seemed well, but we had to take our RV for some work and return to the park. When we disconnected the electric our connector had plastic from the outlet melted on it. The power had been working, but we reported it on our way out and it was replaced when we returned. To be safe we purchased a new 50-30 amp plug. We mentioned it to the staff a couple of times, but ours hints for reimbursement were ignored. Most of the sites, not along the lakes edge, have heavy enough tree cover to prevent satellite use, but there are ones that satellite will work. There are two pools and a hot tub, along with two community buildings, one for adults only. The pools closed the day after we arrived, but they both looked clean and in relatively good condition. We ended up staying 8 nights, extended from our original plan of 5. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would consider returning. The biggest downfall is the isolation, there isn't much to do if you don't fish.
