Our site is level, quite large, and has a lot of privacy. Yes, Lake Medina Lake is almost gone (and here at the campground it is totally gone) but you cannot blame TT for the drought. The pool is huge and there are hiking trails throughout the park, and it is so quiet. The drive into the park is lovely and the heart of San Antonio (Alamo, Riverwalk, etc) is about an hour drive away. Fredericksburg, in the heart of the wine country, is an hour and 20 minute drive away, through beautiful countryside. The office staff is delightful, making sure all of our needs are met. It is important to remember that this is a campground, not a resort, so there are sites that have a fair amount of dirt, there are deer wandering around, and some of the park is unimproved. We just love it here! And a big plus is that our Verizon service works well. We have been able to stream Netflix every night using our Verizon MIFI 8800L hotspot device

There are trees and shade and it is along Medina Lake shores. The lake was dried up during our stay, but it was still beautiful views all around. They have 30 & 50 amp hook-up sites. Not all have sewer connections, but there is a dump station on site. There are tent sites, also. There are lots of amenities such as a huge pool, playgrounds, dog runs, restrooms, laundry, trails, boat launch, community center, games, basketball, pickle ball, mini golf, and so much more! Fun for the whole family. This campground does have a lot of deer around. We really enjoyed this park and the smell of nature here. Sprint FMCA hot spot was 18 Mbps down, 1 Mbps up but slowed at times. Verizon cell phone 2 Mbps down, 7 Mbps up and gets VERY slow when it gets crowded. Most sites have tree coverage so satellite reception could be an issue. Roads are in need of repair, not horrible but definitely need to go slow in a motorhome. This is a very large park and most sites have a good amount of room around them. bath houses were OK nothing special. Pool and hot tub were closed for repairs. Sites are all gravel and ours was pretty level. Staff was very nice. They do charge $5 to receive packages.

The deer come right up to you even though I did not feed them. So sweet. I found the park employees to be very nice and accommodating. We had several nights of hard freezes and they had some leaks. They walk around to every site and told them to fill up their onboard tank because they were going to be turning off the water for repairs. This freeze was NOT in the forecast and caught everyone by surprise. Checking in was a breeze. We chose our spot and called it in. Everything was very clean. Maintenance workers were readily available when I had a dead battery. What a relief! Got me charged up with a smile! I will return. Visit Bandera and Fredericksburg. Neat towns!

Sadly a lot of sites are currently out of commission. Avoid anything that has a red electrical box. We stayed in back-in site F19 and it was level and secluded. TIP: make sure to inform the Welcome Center if any vehicle repair folks come on site. I forgot to do this and staff member Sharon gave me a well-deserved reprimand (read your welcome packet upon arrival as this policy is shown on page 2.) This place is full of deer! We've seen deer at several other RV parks and usually them are quite shy, but not at Medina Lake. Here large groups walk right up to you with absolutely no hesitation. Clearly many folks have fed them over the years. Seeing them up close was pretty cool! The restrooms in section F were clean and well-maintained. We loved the blazing fast free wifi at the laundry building! Dryers were hot and a great bargain at only $1.50 for 60 minutes. Welcome Center does not sell quarter rolls so bring your own. Activity Center wifi was ok but a bit slower. No paid wifi available but my AT&T phone had 2 bars and the hotspot worked ok. Lake level was low but it looked appealing. Pool and jacuzzi are open but you have to schedule a time slot. Bigs minimart is 3 miles away and they have delicious inexpensive pizza. Give it a try!

Things were a bit odd due to the coronavirus protocol but we had a nice site in the upper loops with full hook ups. Our site was pretty level too, though not all in the upper loops are. The lower loops were pretty flat but looks like mud might be a problem. Amenities? The pool looked nice but everything was closed thanks to COVID-19.Still, a really pretty park with lots of wildlife and the lake made us want to buy kayaks right then and there. Shopping and dining are pretty close in San Antonio and despite the out of the way location of the park, AT&T and Verizon were both decent. We were confused by all the sites with red electrical boxes which indicate they weren't functioning and why they hadn't fixed them. But otherwise, we'll visit again when we're swing through Texas.

Not real easy to find. If using GPS, be sure to search for Median Lake Thousand Trails RV Campground. There is a Lake Median RV Resort that is up and down steep roads, through neighborhoods that is the wrong place, so watch that.If you look at this as a "campground" you won't be "too" disappointed. This is NOT a resort type place. There are lots of spots that are out of service but we found a good one at F41. We were able to pull through. W/E/S were are good. Spot was fairly level and had mostly gravel. Verizon was good and we were close enough to the Activities Center to pick up their WiFi. We don't use the amenities, so didn't check out the bathrooms or laundry. The fact the Activities Center was still being worked on each day didn't bother us as we were gone sight seeing most of the time, and they didn't start too early and didn't run too late into the afternoon. It rained all night one night, but we found no mud in our area. What they say about deer is true, they were everywhere. We found it an OK place to stay to visit all that San Antonio has to offer, even though it was a bit of a drive (on typical winding and hilly roads) to get to anything. We found the best route to and from San Antonio was on rt 1610 (a loop around the city) was on rt PR37 and 16. That was also the rt we chose to leave on our way north to Lake Whitney. Because it's the only TT park close to San Antonio, we would probably stay here again, because we could stay for free.

None of the facilities were working or open as advertised on the website. Camp hosts were very defensive of any criticism that the site did not match what was advertised. The entire campground was in dis-repair. Trees were overgrown, deer feces was everywhere. The RV pads at the sites were falling apart. Several of the sites were marked off with red paint as non-functioning. The sewer connection at my site was backed up. It flooded with my gray water and black water more than once. Once again, deer were everywhere. They do not look healthy as their fur was matted and they appeared sick. I’m not a veterinarian, but I just got that feeling. Campers without a sewer hookup were bringing their waste to other campsites (in a portable waste container) and dumping it. Wifi and internet was virtually non-existent. This is my first time staying at a TT, and I am very reluctant to stay at another one given my families’ experience. As a company, TT should have quality control measures in place that ensure franchisees maintain a standard that is acceptable and welcoming to guests.

The staff are very friendly, but there are a LOT of rules. The first of many TT parks that have actually asked for our membership card. Of course, it's first come first serve as with most TT parks. The problem with this one is that so many sites are out of order so it took a while to find a decent site, and it seems the nicer looking, open spots were mostly out of order. There's a mix of full hook-up and electric/water sites, with limited availability for 50 amp. Waterfront sites do not have sewer, but there is a honey wagon service for $20. The campground loops and sites are not very well maintained. Lots of low hanging and protruding branches, and things just generally look dated and unkempt. The clubhouse / activity center is currently closed due to a wildlife infestation of some sort. Sounds like it will be closed most of the season. We did not visit the bathrooms. There is propane fill-up for $3/gallon There are lots of wild deer roaming the park. Will probably try this park again next season hoping for improvements, as the surrounding area seems like a good place to explore. www.ourepicfieldtrip.com

Both of my stays I've been in the lake area as opposed to near the entrance. This park is so unkept you're pretty much guaranteed to scratch your RV driving around for a spot. The trees are those horrible Life Oaks with moss on every tree (chiggers), branches so low and not maintained that many spots will be avoided simply because you can't get into them. There's a more than faint aroma of raw sewage in the area I stayed in, I'm sure because they think a rock over the sewer is a cover. So many spots by the lake (no sewer) are down for electrical issues that that area of the park looks empty. The roads aren't maintained either and you have to be careful driving through. My spot was also littered with a carpet and old broken-down picnic table that should have been removed.I'm not sure why this park feels that it's so special with the hundreds of deer that run through and around the park. You can't even walk around your own space without stepping into deer excrement. Lyme's disease and fleas, no thank you. And they charge $5 per package (FedEx and UPS only, USPS is rejected) so be sure you really need that package! You are also about 30 miles from anything. A trip to San Antonio took an hour and 20 minutes. This park is in the middle of nothing. If you're planning to actually do anything, or see San Antonio I'd advise staying somewhere else, even if you're a Thousand Trails member. The good: Surprisingly I had no issues with water and electric. The bathhouse in the lake area (Bandara bathhouse) was maintained very well. The lake area is nice and even in January I stayed for a while to enjoy the view.

Deer walking everywhere, tons of them! It has a very big potential, though is not very well-run at the moment. Many sites are closed (power doesn't work there), many sites, doesn't have a sewer. Many branches need cutting, some amenities have to be better looked after. They also charge for incoming packages 5 dollars each, and do not accept USPS at all. The bathhouses are clean. Many dumpsters all over the park. The park is pretty though and the deer! So many deer. And roadrunners :) The stuff was not always eager to solve the problems. I've heard that the cabins are nice. Your stay here will mostly depend on your expectations so far. For us - the deer won over everything. We've got a Thousand Trails membership.

We stayed here for free through our Thousand Trails Membership. It is a very large campground. We ending up finding a water/electric a site next to the water so driving up to the pool/laundry was a must. There are many sites that are out of order which is a shame since a lot of those are nice spots. The bathhouses are outdated but were clean. The pool was open, hot tub out of order and the activity center was out of order. The deer are everywhere which is kind of fun. You are not allowed to feed them anymore. Overall our spot overlooking the lake made up for what was lacking at the campground.I agree with another review, if they just put in some elbow grease and of course money, this campground could be top notch.

No power at many of the sites and there are entire sections without sewer. However, the section I stayed in (A) has barely anyone in it. You can tell this section doesn't get utilized much as many of the sites have tall weed growth in them. So the trade-off for not having sewer is tons of peace and privacy. For much of my stay I was surrounded by several acres of empty sites. And as others have stated, deer are everywhere and they're not as skittish as deer typically are. The office even sells bags of dried corn for feeding the deer. They recently added a couple of (FREE) wifi hotspots and I was close enough to connect to one. But even without wifi the Verizon signal is very strong here, 4-5 bars was typical.Mail: There seems to be a policy spreading throughout the TT parks regarding mail: no USPS deliveries accepted (although you can still have something shipped to this address and they will hold a slip for you to pick it up at the post office 12 miles away). FedEx and UPS accepted for $5 per package.Getting to this place feels a bit weird as you have to drive through an older and run down neighborhood to get to it, and the roads are rather beat up. Not much to do here unless you're into boating on the lake. There's also not much in the way of shopping except for a Dollar General, and getting to the outskirts of San Antonio is a good 30 minute drive. This place definitely has its shortcomings but the peace and tranquility of the wooded surroundings are hard to beat.

Fun area to explore.

We are great at making the best of things, so you just need to be prepared. The park is a bit further away from things than we expected (about 1 hour to Alamo, 35-45 minutes to outskirts of San Antonio / shopping) so plan accordingly for shopping trips, etc. At the end of the drive out there is 11 miles down a smaller highway that curved a lot, so just provide time to make that part of the trip. The campground is pretty spread out and the sites are first come, first served so you will need to look at the map and go find the best place and then good luck :)The staff working there is very friendly as well - that is a nice part.Noise-wise, it is very quiet and nice.Wifi in activity center is free but pretty bad. While we were there we had a problem where cell phone coverage kept jumping in and out, so it was a little frustrating. There is a library in the city that has wifi and we did not make it there, but almost had to in order to get some work done.Oh yes, and deer everywhere. If you are going to be there a while and want to feed the deer, bring deer corn with you.

We didn't know what to expect, but had read some comments regarding the area. This campground is far out from most towns and the city of San Antonio. Because we are in a 40 Ft motorhome, we are careful about routing to remote areas. Our Co-Pilot app directed us on a sketchy road, but after we stayed a few days we found better ways in and out of the area. Apparently the Lake had really suffered from the drought and economic downturn of the area in the late 2000's, but is beginning to come back. We found a spot with an open area, not covered with trees. Most sites are tight into the trees, and back-in. The road through the campground isn't in great shape, and you must be careful to drive slow. The Campground is full of deer, who are not particularly afraid of humans, and get fed corn regularly by the visitors. They were numerous in our campsite every morning and evening. There is no internet service from the campground. However, we were able to work with our Verizon coverage while there. There are a couple of restaurants and a small grocery store in the nearby town of Lakehills, but for most things you need to drive to San Antonio.

The deer are frequently fed by humans, so they are a little fearless and will approach you. The lake is beautiful and there are many spaces with water views. We had a great spot next to the lake with no one else around us (except all the deer). Our spot was only power and water, but there are plenty with sewer, just not right on the water. There is a lot of lake front to walk throughout the park. The bathrooms and activity center were a little older, but seemed to be well taken care of. This place is very relaxing and we'd like to come back and spend more time.

Caution don't follow GPS if it tries to take you from PR37 to 3rd to Spur rd, you want to follow the signs and go PR37 to 8th Street, then right on Florida st then left on Spettle Ave. Good Mexican food just down the road at the La Cabana Mexican Cafe. Hot Tub and Pool, the hot tub was great and the pool was a bit chilly this time of year. We will be back for sure. I suppose if I had to pick a negative and its not really a negative it would have to be the speed limit getting to the lower campground area near the water its 5 mph its what I term creepy slow, could still be safe at 10 mph, but I understand it needs to be that way especially during peak times when there are lots of kids on bikes etc. also it would be nice to see them save the old farm house near the pool.

This preserve has TONS of deer. We were in the F loop and the deer were everywhere, we could literally see 15-20 deer every afternoon as we walked the loop. The mosquitos were pretty bad at dusk, we were fine as long as we did not forget to use repellant. Its a very wooded area with easy lake access. There was a small dock for fishing. My kids enjoyed the playground and miniature golf. I loved the laundry room with 6 washers and dryers, but be prepared to drive across the large campground to use the pool and laundry. We will happily return. 45 minutes outside of San Antonio. The town of Helote is 20 minutes away and has all the shops you need. You can find firewood at the little corner gas station that is about 4/5 miles away. Many locals commented on how the lake had gone dry in prior years, however it is now at 60% capacity. We really enjoyed this location. There is lake front camping if you don't need sewer hook ups, those sites only have water and electric.
