Nice little store with very nice staff. Nice area for walking along the river with a huge dog park. We enjoyed the pickle ball but suggest the owners invest in wind screens and fences between courts.

Full hookups, 2 pools, 2 laundry facilities, dog park, river/ponds, beautiful place. Lots of big rigs here, assume snowbirds and locals. They also have a Membership Club for “casitas” for full timers. Close to interstate so convenient. Clean and quiet. Friendly fellow RVers.

The campground is located in a small valley between hills, and is bisected by a large creek. The full-time residents occupy the motorhome-only section of the park on the west side of the creek. Our campsite (6131) was in a special section on the east side that was adults-only (no one under 16 years old was allowed in that section). All the sites in our section had concrete pads that gave way to grass on the door side and gravel on the side with the power pedestal. The site in the middle of the loop (like ours) were pull-through, while the ones on the outside of the loop were pull-in sites rather than back-in sites (most of those were occupied by Class As). Our site was mostly level (our loop had a slight incline). A cable TV hookup was available, but we didn’t use it. This campground definitely earns the “resort” label. It has two swimming pools, a store in the office, an outdoor kitchen area with a smoker where they serve dinner to residents, an indoor activity room, a movie theatre area (we didn’t get to see it), and an adult fitness center with a small yoga area snd exercise equipment. Trash is picked up from your site at 10am each day (don’t miss that pickup window; we didn’t see any dumpsters for manually disposing of our trash), and you can sign up for propane delivery which occurs on Friday morning. They also have a small island in the middle of an artificial pond with a large gazebo and seating area (probably a wedding venue). It’s just a nice looking park overall. Some RV resorts are so tight that there’s little grass for dogs to walk on. Not so here: there was plenty of open grassy area to walk our dogs along both sides of the creek, and there is a huge fenced-in dog park on the west side of the creek. There are also plenty of dog “stations” around the park that provide dog waste bags and dog waste cans.In terms of cell service, the best speeds I got on my Verizon Jetpack with MIMO antenna during our stay was around 15Mbps down and 7Mbps up, but there were times, especially during the evening, where the connection was slow and congested. I used the campground WiFi one evening to upload another campground review. Didn’t do a speedtest, but it wasn’t much faster than the sluggish Verizon connection. The one speed test I performed on my AT&T phone showed 45Mbps down and 25Mbps up (I was getting close to my data cap for tethering for the month so I tried not to use it as a hotspot).

We normally wouldn't book a place like this, but we were pleasantly surprised. Very clean place, the workers are friendly and very helpful if you have questions about the area and attractions/restaurants. It's a great locatiuon for Enchanted Rock, Fredericksburg, and other scenery. While this place is close to the interstate, we didn't notice much noise at all. When we return to Hill Country, I'd definitely consider staying again!

Friendly campers. Activities almost daily. Paved roads, concrete pads, clean. Well maintained. They definitely put the money back into the rv park. They are expanding and adding more rv lots along the side closest to the interstate but it is not that bothersome right now. They are building a storage building between that area and the interstate so it blocks some of the interstate noise which helps some as well. Again, minor issue there. Still. Well worth a stop here. Also if you do choose this rv park, I mean resort, add a few extra days to enjoy the park amenities and what the town has to offer. Well worth it. If your planing on staying long term, you need to make your reservation well in advance. They are pretty full.

Wow! If I ever have to stop in Texas again it will be Buckhorn Lake Resort. Beautiful sites with level concrete pads and plenty of space between sites. Full hook ups with 30 and 50 amp. Pool and showers with plenty of space to walk our dogs. Great location and close to restaurants just down the main road.

It is convenient for a drive through - which was our intention. Unfortunately we had a breakdown in our toad while running errands in town, so needed to stay longer until the Jeep was fixed.A call to the resort to ask if they could accommodate us for an additional night or two and the response was they were fully booked. Ok fair enough. But the indifference to our dilemma without even another recommendation or anything was disappointing. I am also doubtful they will fill up on a Sunday night - the park was 1/2 full when we left. Regardless, the campground is very nice and clean. Long level cement pull throughs. Couldn’t ask for much more. Beware of the invisible dips in the roadway as you drive around the campground. We didn’t see them and it was like an earthquake on board!

Large paved sites, most trees were trimmed to accommodate big rigs, set in very scenic area. But beware of unresponsive managers / owners. We've stayed three times, for 5 to 30 nights. It was on leaving our site in October, that we noticed the driver side of our motorhome had been hit by the sprinkler system, leaving 12' of white crusty hard-water spots. I attempted to wax them out immediately, but was unsuccessful. These had built up apparently during the 5 nights of our stay. So, at checkout, I spoke to the office manager about the problem, explaining the sprinkler system had over-watered and sprayed our coach during our stay, leaving water spots on a large area - that wouldn't wax out. After a brief pause, she replied "... well, we have to water the grass", and there was nothing they could or would do to prevent it from re-occcurring. No apology either. The lack of any remorse or apology was unbelievable. This was a nice RV park where we thought guest satisfaction mattered. Evidently not to the staff. We decided to depart and send an email - which I hoped would go to the Park manager or owners. After two emails, I received a response indicating they had forwarded my request for a 25% refund ($46.25) to the owners. That was 10 days ago, and I've not seen a response.OK, it will take a few hours for me to compound, polish and re-wax that section of my Newmar. No long term harm done. The manager's and owner's indifference about over-sprinkling the hard water on guest motorhomes was unexpected. A very nice park on the surface, but the lack of even a response by the owners is an indicator of their (lack of) concern for their guests satisfaction.

It is close to I-10, but the highway noise was not overwhelming. Most of the time we didn't know it was there. The campground is meticulously maintained. We watched staff one morning cleaning the pools areas, which included deadheading the flowers. That shows they care. Our site was concrete with a picnic table. We asked for a site with a tree and got one. The protection from the sun was very welcome. Stone was between the sites. Cable TV was good. The pools and spas were very nice. The pool in the general area had a pergola which provided some shade. The pool in the adults only area didn't, but it had upgraded furniture. Laundry room was good. The WiFi was excellent. Verizon signal was good. The farm theme all over the park was very cute. We would (and probably will) stay here again.Take time to visit LBJ Ranch and the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredricksburg. Both were very much worth the driver into town.

We came intending to stay just a couple of months and by the time we departed we'd been there for five! The park is truly big-rig friendly. There is an adults-only section with it's own swimming pool but of course there is another pool in the family section. Entertainment and activities are offered in "the big red barn." Dinners, parties and live entertainment are exceptional...not your ordinary "RV park fare." Cable TV, very good wi-fi service, DSL available, mail and package delivery, daily trash pick up at your site...the wonderful folks who own this resort have thought of everything. As of this writing, we've been traveling the country in our motorhome for almost two years and we have yet to find another RV resort that holds a candle to Buckhorn Lake Resort.
