The above rate includes daily electric charges and reflects a mix of first-time stay discount (50% off first week), regular weekly discount for our second week and the $20 overnight rate for 3 nights. As mentioned here, keep your eyes open to make the turn off of US 90 heading toward the park. The website gives great directions. After that, accessibility is a breezy. All interior roads are paved and wide.Very friendly folks here, which is one of the real pros of this park. We enjoyed numerous social activities while here, including a park-wide, wonderful semi-potluck Thanksgiving meal in the clubhouse. Propane is available on-site. We founds lots to do in this area including all that San Antonio has to offer, including the Riverwalk and Alamo. We also found excellent hiking at a State Park in the heart of Hill Country near Bandera and enjoyed a great kayak paddle at Medina Lake. Lots of great food shopping in nearby towns of Hondo, D'Hanis and Castroville. On the downside are the ubiquitous trains which run along Highway 90 constantly. Day and night. They are fairly loud and most definitely take some getting used to. Other than that, we had a great 2 1/2 week stay here and would come back again if in the area.

Dry camped in a parking lot area along the entrance road inside the fenced perimeter. Served purpose of a safe, inexpensive overnight. The office was very friendly and accommodating. Will stay here again when on the way through.

Park looks fine but probably will not go out of way to stay there. At least without calling in advance.

This is an Escapees Co-Op park. It is owned by the residents. Only Escapee members are allowed to stay here. We were here late in the season and had no trouble getting onto a lot where the member had left already. I could see there being an issue if it were high season. I could call first in that case. If this is your first time staying in the park, your first week is 55% off (some exclusions...see the website). You pay for your own electric. We spent about $20 in electric during our 12 days, with the A/C running during the afternoons. NOTE: You have to be there by 4:30 to get a spot. The office (staffed by work-kampers) closes then. In addition to full hook-up sites, there are also some dry camping available. The people here are the nicest you will find., Everyone says Hi. We were invited right off to their evening Happy Hour (more of a news of the day in 15 minutes event). We were made to feel very welcome.Entry into the park could be tricky, it's not very well marked. Visit the park's website for maps. Once there, the roads are paved. The sites are large. Some have concrete pads, some are gravel...it depends upon what the site's owner has installed. Almost all have a little building in the back that the owners use as a living room or storage shed by the owners (not by us visitors). The clubhouse is large and has an extensive library with books and DVDs. The laundry room is clean and large and cheap! It was $1 to wash and $.75 to dry.The WiFi worked wonderfully, just don't abuse it by streaming Netflix. Verizon Cellular was WONDERFUL! The OTA TV from San Antonio worked OK. Fox and CW came in just fine. NBC and CBS would work if you adjusted your antenna just right. ABC was a no-go.There is a dog run. There are also daily activities you are invited to join in (Bingo, Dominos, etc.)San Antonio is about 40 minutes away. We enjoyed a tour of the Toyota Factory while there. The campground staff has lots of good recommendations for dining in the area.
