Quaint! It is hard to rate quaint and cute, but will try. The campground hostess is a visiting, usually weekend, artist who has been slowly turning the campground into an artistic statement featuring bright colors, metal sculptures, and quirky “statements” not the least of which is the bathroom/shower structure. There is also an eclectic collection of restored classic campers from tiny to 40 feet long. Each site has electricity, water and sewer for prices ranging from $12-$16 dollars (self service) based upon how much electricity you perceive that you will use. Entire town generally shuts down Monday through Thursday or so and I suspect winters can be pretty frosty, but it appears that some are renting year round sites. “The” road through town is very narrow with even narrower street parking. There is a general store and a wine tasting and beer eating place. Closed when we were there. Turn off is on west side of Post Office turning north. You can drive a loop past the campground, which is good; there is very limited turnaround space in the campground. Much more than a 40 ft RV would be a stretch. Towing a vehicle or a fifth wheel would be difficult. Missing the turnoff ( now 2nd Street) would mean a difficult turnaround. Continuing west through town will leave you with tortuous ascents and descents to Silver City. Turning south in town continues the Lake Valley Byway to Deming and Rockhound State Park and bypasses really nice rockhound and free primitive campsites. I rate it as a general 3 star, but 4 star if quaint is your cup of tea; great walking around and sites!
