I first visited F-Burg in the mid-1980’s and it has undergone the addition of a whole lot of restaurants that serve alternatives to schnitzel. We figured it was time for some further culinary exploration. Oakwood is about a 1.5 miles by bicycle to downtown where all the stuff is. Upon returning to our shadeless campsite, we’d dive into the huge pool a mere 40 feet from our the door of our Foot. In exchange for the lack of shade, we had a highly reliable 30amp source for our AC, good tasting water and cable TV. There are many full-time residents there but they were pleasant enough. It was clean and quiet. Only disappointment was the lack of shade and the occasional waft of funk emanating from many loosely attached stinky slinky’s, not uncommon at RV parks. Boondocking it ain’t, but it’ll do.

Staff were very friendly and provided free ice! We would definitely stay here again when in the area.

We have come in after hours and they had everything ready for us. The staff here has always been helpful and even allowed me to use one of their ladders for a couple hours to finish a project. The park is all gravel and there are quit a few long term/extended stay RV's in the park. The swimming pool is HUGE and well maintained. They even have a small hot tub area for adults only if you desire. The sites are not the most luxurious I have ever stayed in but they have everything you need and get the job done. They have onsite bathrooms and showers, but I'm not sure about laundry. It is located on the edge of town and there are so many great restaurants very close by. If your looking for over the top luxury then you may be disappointed, but there is no reason I wouldn't recommend this RV park to friends. They are priced fair and they will continue to get my business!!!

Oakwood is a nice, quiet park, well maintained and clean. For us, the sites are too narrow . Our slide hung over our neighbor’s picnic table concrete pad. Many sites have beautiful trees but getting a big rig backed in is like threading a needle. I think the park is best suited for shorter campers. Cable TV is basic but fine. Wi-fi, umm, not so good. Nice pool and hot tub, live music on weekends. I give only 3 stars because we have a 41’ fifth wheel and we struggled to back into our site. If we had a dmaller rig, I’m sure I’d give it 5 stars.

The attention to detail is what makes this park a cherished destination. Bathhouse: spotless. Site picnic table: freshly refinished, washed clean. Grounds: lovingly landscaped. Located just minutes from Main Street Fredericksburg, Oakwood couldn‘t be more convenient. I‘d give 6-stars if that were an option. ❤️

There are lots of trees in the RV park and it's got a large pool and hot tub. Some of the sites are tricky to maneuver.

The sites on the western side or loop of the park are nestled in among Old Oak trees, which provide a fair amount of shade. The eastern side of the park... pretty much open to full sunlight. The park staff is very accommodating and helpful with any reservations or area questions. Very seldom do you see any kids or younger generation. Park seems to have some full-timers that living permanently. Restroom/shower house is keep neat and clean as is the swimming pool and entire park. This is a quiet park. Seems everyone respects the 10 MPH speed limit. During our stay we would see several overnight rvers pulling in and out, but seems they are accommodated in the eastern side of the park, probably more suitable to get in and out. All sites are graveled with many having concrete slabs next to the campsite... great to put your awning out and relax. There is a fenced in pet area where one can turn their dog loose for exercise, if desired. Oakwood is located in the southwest part of Fredericksburg, very close to downtown Fredericksburg, where a couple can spend all day in and out of stores & shops, shopping for ... you name it. Many dining places to eat great German food. We were told... don't know how true it is... that the owners retired (or might have passed) and their son has taken over. Park seems to show improvement(s) in many ways as, prior, was beginning to show it's age. Don't know how old the park is, but if I were to guess, I'd say it began in the 40's. We enjoyed our stay and would go back in a heartbeat, but there are to many other places to see in Texas. Go to the Pacific War Museum in Fredericksburg and spend a day. You won't regret it. http://www.pacificwarmuseum.org/
