I had low expectations for this RV park but the people were nice, the facilities well run. the bathrooms were clean, there were actual hooks for clothing in showers. Had a nice pool. Not much in the way of trees but in the desert you come to expect that. Some freeway noise but it wasn't bad.

When we arrived there was no one in the office so we used the self check-in. They had us in a site for a 25 ft RV, and we are 45 ft and towing. After phoning the owner, he helped us pick another available site. Unfortunately, it was too short as well so we had to unhook the toad. Not a big deal just inconvenient. An employee came by about an hour later and apologized for the mistake. So kudos for that! Most of the largest sites appear to be on the back two rows. It’s a little tight maneuvering for larger rigs but doable. Luckily, no one was in front of us so we were able to drive through that site when we left. The park is basically a big parking lot with dirt and white gravel throughout. Yes, that white stuff does track in on your shoes. Each site has a (very dirty) picnic table. Some have a small brick patio. Sites are mostly level, and other campers are nearby but not ultra close. Satellite would not be a problem, and the WII FI works pretty darn good. Verizon was 4g 3 bars. The pool looks clean but we didn’t use it. Not even sure it was open yet. They have some interesting yard art that adds a little something something. The park is right on I-10. You can hear traffic, especially with the windows open, but oddly it’s not too overwhelming. Beautiful sunset!

Like others have said, there really arent a lot of options in the area. I really wanted to like Hilltop RV Park. Here’s the pros and cons:Awesome:- Sunset views- Near town but feels like the country- Easy to access- Friendly neighbors and hosts- Full bathrooms- Beautiful pool- The internet at night is steady- $2 washer and $2 laundry, open 24/7- Great water pressure and actual showerheads in the showers....Not so awesome:- Lots of highway noise at night- The air slightly smells of sulfur- The internet during the day sucks- The water in the bathrooms is slightly tinged yellow (to the point that after two weeks of being here it stained our sinks yellow)....Easily fixable but nothing has happened:- The bathrooms have no soap or way to dry your hands. You’ve got four bathrooms, and NONE of them have this!- The bathrooms do not have any gendered signs outside them, but in one of the bathrooms above the toilet is a sign saying that the bathroom is for women only. I’m fine with gendered bathrooms or not, but if you’re going to have them, have signs outside. - Not all showers have towel hooks. I had to pull over the shower stool to have someplace to put my towel- The bathrooms have small plug in heaters. That’s fine, but they don't ever seem to be on, and when we had snow they were off, making for a cold toilet experience. - The mail is delivered to the owner’s house. The packages and mail just sits in the mailbox or porch, and anyone can grab your stuff. Didnt feel secure.

We had to be towed (truck and Airstream) and Fort Stockton was the closest place that had a Ford dealer, 80 miles away. I had to act fast and find a place to stay because there was no way we were making it to Fort Davis. A quick Google search and a quick peek here, I found Hilltop RV Park. I called and spoke to the owner, he had one spot left and it was a back- in, one that normally is reserved for long term residents. This area is booming with oilfield workers so a spot in this town is very hard to come by. Jim was wonderful, I explained our situation and told him we literally had no place to go. He gave us the long term spot for 5 days. Once we arrive he offered to take us anywhere we needed to go. He said he would follow us to the Ford dealer on Monday if we wanted him to. An all round nice guy! The park itself is well maintained. The bathrooms are clean and there's laundry on site as well. 3 washers and 3 dryers. Reasonably priced too! There's a swimming pool, we did not use it but it looked very nice. The park is quiet and convenient to Walmart. The sunsets are just beautiful. We would stay here again even if we weren't forced to.

Our first stay was just overnight which appears to be the norm. This time we had a few days to kill before heading into Big Bend so we decided to stay for 3 nights. It's a very quiet little park with some extended stay rigs as mentioned in previous posts. The sites are gravel pull-throughs with FHU and a picnic table. Clean and quiet and the owners are very nice. There is a pool and shower house which we did not use. When we asked about things to do in the area a wine tasting room was mentioned - Grey Mule Winery so of course we had to check it out one afternoon. There are lots of different wines to choose from and the staff were very knowledgeable. We even had the chance to sit and visit with the vineyard manager. There is a nice patio to sit and enjoy a glass of wine and cheese plate. Overall our stay in Fort Stockton was very enjoyable. Price noted is for cash.
