Good alternative if the Park is full. Tight spaces with your front door step on someones utility hookups. However, if you hang out in front of your rig, sites 10 to 15 have an unobstructed view of the Canyon. Site 10 is the best as it is open on one side with a Juniper bush for shade.

Speaking of sewer, maybe extra 10' hose would be good for some of the sites... jus' sayin'!All in all, a good "home base" to go and explore the State Park, which is just around the corner, with all it's trails and info centers!Have a great time, we did!

We didn't have problems with our hook up, but noticed a neighbor was given a hose to help connect. The description they listed is accurate (older park). We had good reception, which the husband needs for work. We left a night early because of 65plus bursts of wind. We would visit the park again but would definitely check the wind conditions before booking.

The sites were really close together. So much so that we couldn’t open our awnings without being in the next site. The sites were extremely unlevel. It took quite a while for us to get close to level and we have auto-level. Next, the vast majority of the sites are 30 amp sites. I entered 50 when we booked but ended up with 30. Lastly, all the sites are dirt pads which become extremely muddy when it rains, so beware. And there are no trees for shade. But again, it is extremely close to the state park and inexpensive.

It looks like they are trying to do so much with the place, but are kind of all over the place so not one particular aspect is as good as it good be. It's pretty dull as far as campgrounds go, but the location can't be beat if you can't stay in the park. The RV sites are fairly flat. We picked #3 based on their webpage, which said it had one of the best views of the canyon. Which may have been true before they built the mini cabins. Highly recommend staying in the outer loop sites, and avoid the ones on the "inside" unless it's at the farthest end from the entrance. The water and electrical/sewer hook ups were on opposite ends of the site, so unless we used our additional hose, we wouldn't have been able to hook everything up at the same time.Never went in the showers, but there are two bathrooms - both were fine when we first got there, but it was a holiday weekend so we didn't use them after the first day. Not sure how much cleaning was going on so can't comment on cleanliness after the first day.You can see the Palo Duro SP entrance from this RV campground. Because we were hooked up and didn't want to unhook, we rode our mountain bikes into/out of the canyon for the two full days we were there. It's definitely do able if you are in decent shape. We also biked several of the trails in the canyon, which were spectacular. I'm not an avid mountain biker but I've done some fairly technical single track trails, but Lower Comanche was at the extreme end of my limits. Upper Comanche, however, was super fun and although technical, not as difficult as LC.There is wifi at the campground and we didn't have any issues with it. They do sell ice for $2/bag. We didn't come into contact with the owners other than by phone. The office wasn't open and all we had to do was call and let them know which site we were on, so check in was super easy. I'm sure they would have been responsive if we had any issues, but we didn't need to contact them other than check in.

There was trash left by a camper and it stayed out until animals picked the bag apart and scattered the garbage. And finally, upon departure we found the sewer at our campsite was full. We could not dump and had to move to another site to dump. At one site we could see where someone had dumped right on the ground. This is unacceptable. Would never stay here again.

Just watch for broken glass on the grounds. Clean-ish restrooms and okay showers.

There are other pads farther away that didn't seem as level (this is stated on their website). We actually booked this for 2 nights and were able to extend to a 3rd night so we could get into the park an extra day, the owner was friendly and accommodated our request. Since this is on the rim of the canyon the wind is always blowing, in the evening that makes it very comfortable to sit outside and relax with a cocktail. The other great thing about staying here was 5 bars on AT&T, my wife was working in the mornings so being on line was a plus. Down in the canyon there is no service.

Spending an extra day in New Mexico nixed our plans however. Still needing a place to spend the night, and not wanting to depend upon Amarillo’s Wal-Mart, we found this site through Campendium, and do not regret it!Yes, the place is under construction, and it really has no amenities to get anyone excited, but it is EXACTLY what we needed after a long day on the road. Without a lot of crowds (only two other campers), we were able to select any site, settle in, watch a couple movies and relax. Contrary to other reviews, we had no cell service (T-Mobile and Sprint), but it was no problem. I didn’t use the shower (singular) after being told that once it got dark, there wasn’t much light. I think all of these little things, including the general look of the place, are being worked on now, and in a year or so it will be an excellent destination.

I walked in and I wasn't sure if it was the office for the zip line or for the RV park, it turns out is all the same. I paid $58 for 2 nights. The state park did not offer sewer hook ups, but this park did. And everybody in the state park says the phone signal is non existent (we confirmed that when we went down into the canyon, zero service), we had good service here.I was surprised that there were less than 10 rigs in here, so our closest neighbor was 4 spots away, about 60 ft. There are some junk cars on the front, that don't look great. But I got over it when I had a such a great Verizon signal that I was able to stream the world cup on my phone (Argentine fan here!!) The antenna also captured a few channels. And some good FM stations as well. The park entrance is only 300 yards away, its a little cooler than inside the state park since we had a good breeze. Both nights some deer came close by to eat. Overall, very happy with this park. The sites are not level, I had to install 3 leveling blocks on the passenger side (Lynx leveler blocks). But the hooks up worked well and had no other issues.
Very convenient to the canyon, sloppy housekeeping, no maintenance, great view from top of canyon, a perfect spot to stay if you can live with the worse.

So, what do you get for $25: a grass site that may or may not be level, tight if they are crowded. But, don't worry as almost 1/3 to 1/2 the sites don't have working power. A few picnic tables, but badly in need of repair, no fire rings so no smoking campfires. I didn't look at showers or bathrooms, but suspect the same - uninterest on the part of the owner. 50 Am service gets you shrugged shoulders, "the last storm screwed it up!"Inspite of this glowing review I'd stay here again because of the views and spacing between sites because of the poor maintenance. Oh yes, bring a dog (the bigger the better) and let it roam like the owner does with his mastif. They're good for the grass! They run a "ZIP LINE" service from the otherside of the c/g and run steady traffic of trailers full of people in wagons behind jeeps. They have a cable ride across one of the canyon's valleys. There's some controversey there too.
