It was nice to be sure, but not Resort nice.Let's start with the good;Spacious pull through sites, with FHU's that worked flawlessly.Walking distance to a nice grocery store, always nice for us!Good access to all things Austin.Heated pool.Friendly and helpful office staff. The grounds were kept clean and tidy. The bad; The Wifi was just barely usable. While that is inconvenient, the fact that you need to re-log in several times a day to use it just sucks. They offer an upgraded Wifi, but we opted to stay with the free Wifi instead. Now the ugly, which was really only one;THE NOISE!!! HOLY COW!!!We were about 2/3 of the way to the back part of the campground, but the CONSTANT wailing away of the #35 was bothersome at best, and annoying at worst. This was in our campsite. The pool was nice, but hardly anyone used it, and the first time we did, we knew why. The #35 highway is literally 50 feet from the pool. You had to almost scream to hear each other. After 10 minutes or so of this, you just have to leave, it is just that awful. Having said that, we did use the pool several times during our stay, but only to cool down. You just can't hang out there with the noise.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. It got below freezing while we were here and they sent out an email explaining what to do to keep pipes from freezing. They also said we could put our propane tank out next to the road at anypoint during the day and they drove by, picked it up, refilled it and delivered it back to our RV. Usually they offer that service on only specific days, but since it was so cold they offered it everyday. It is south of the city, but still within easy distance and it is just over 1 hour from San Antonio which made that an easy day trip. It is on a one way road, so you do have to drive a bit out of your way coming back from Austin.

Lots of trees. Clean park. Used the AstroTurf dog park, which was clean. Very accommodating late check in procedure. Small store at entrance has items like power converters, little difficult pulling out of park with trailer because of heavy feeder road traffic and reduced lanes due to construction, but doable with some patience. Very close to town.

It's a Sun RV Resort property and staff very friendly and received a gift of a doggie poop bag holder and a small "makeup size" bag with hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and two masks...WOW! (need to wear a mask in the office; Austin requires masks in all businesses) Was led to our site which was a pull thru site and our 44 foot rig, with toad, had plenty of room. The park has lots of trees which is great for a hot Texas town. Sites are gravel and ours was very level; really didn't need the jacks. Didn't use laundry or pool, but they looked fine; clean. A few permanent RV residents, but condition on most was fine and we expect that now in most parks. Met a few visitors walking and everyone was very friendly. This park has a locked gate, code needed. Really liked that as it's right off the frontage road of I-35. Entrance/road is under construction which made the entrance off the road a little difficult. We didn't use wifi, but I saw several wifi receivers in the park. A past post made a great suggestion, request a site in the back, sites 32-35, 62-66 or 87-90, this will reduce the I-35 noise.

If you are not familiar with the frontage road system, be very careful as the resort's entrance is almost immediately after you exit the I-35 off-ramp. If you miss it you will have to go around some miles for a second attempt!!

Getting in/out of the park can be challenging due to the construction (and if you're heading back south from downtown you have to go all the way to the next exit, U turn, then head back north on the service road to get to the entrance. We had a weekly rate with a Good Sam/AAA discount. Plenty of room for our big rig. Sites are close together, but plenty of large trees/bushes give a bit of privacy. Wifi is ok. There's a clubroom you can use for work, parties. Overall, we loved it and have already booked our stay for next year!

We stayed at Lone Star on 2 separate trips, and both experiences were good. This is a nice commercial campground with tight spacing on level concrete and/or gravel pads including FHU and pull-through sites. We are 40' plus a truck, and it would be challenging to have a much larger set-up and still fit. While there isn't much privacy between sites, the campground is quiet and very well kept. There are a number of 'resort' amenities that we didn't use including pool, gym, laundry, bathhouse, dog park, outdoor gathering area, and a playground. There is grass for walking our dog, they pick-up and fill propane tanks left out by the curb, and their Wifi isn't bad. The park is gated and check-in/out process is fairly quick and easy. While close to Austin, the park is located on a frontage road near the highway, which as other have mentioned is still (perpetually?) under construction, so it requires some careful navigating to get in and out.

Sites are close, but not abnormally so. Bathrooms are excellent. Individual locking rooms with toilets and showers. There was a bit of an air of snobbery among staff since we were in a class c rather than a big class a like their typical rich clientele. Construction inside and outside the park made coming and going difficult. I see they were doing construction many months ago in previous reviews...and yes, there is STILL CONSTRUCTION!

As previous reviewers have stated, the sites are close but the bushes and trees added privacy. The dog park and laundry facilities were well maintained and clean. We didn't use the bathhouse but heard others comment that it was nice. Our purpose for choosing this park was the location to Austin center. We were there for business/pleasure. If we were there for vacation or relaxation I would have rated it a zero - because of the traffic noise and ease of getting in and out of the park. The park is situated between two major highways and you hear ALL of the traffic. The cell service was excellent and the WiFi offered was great for work and streaming videos. Our rate ($49) a night was discounted with our Good Sam's membership.Austin is a beautiful city, so if you like being close then bring ear plugs!

While we typically would opt for the more spacious sites at McKinney Falls, this was a good option for full hook-ups and other conveniences associated with a private park. The spots here are right next to each other with minimal spacing, however, there are trees and bushes between many of the spaces which really helps them feel a bit more private. As close as we were to our neighbors, we didn't feel like we were on top of them, which was a nice change for this type of commercial park. The traffic along the frontage road was pretty bad, but hopefully it will improve once they finish all the construction they're working on. The location of the park is very good with easy access to downtown Austin. Also - if you are a member of Passport America and you are there Sunday to Thursday, you can get a discount for two nights. Unfortunately, we were there on a weekend and had to pay the full rate, but if you can schedule it right, you can save some money with PA. Overall, we were impressed with the park's online reservation system, the vegetation between the sites that created a bit of privacy, and the very friendly customer service we encountered. We would stay here again.

The convenience part was true. I-35 runs right past the park and it was easy to jump on and drive to town (provided you didn't end up sitting in traffic). That same convenience officially made this the noisiest park we have ever stayed at. Our site was near the front of the park and the constant roar of traffic was deafening. It's probably quieter near the back of the park, but that section appeared to be filled with permanent residents so good luck getting a site back there. The sites were fairly typical RV park sites with the addition of shade trees and some shrubs. You don't get a ton of space, but you also don't feel like you are on top of your neighbor. The park facilities appeared to be well maintained expect for the bathrooms which were pretty old and the showers could have used a good scrubbing. Nice, large laundry room though. Overall, this is a convenient place to stay if you plan to spend all day in the city, but not the kind of place where you want to sit outside and relax. Also, bring some ear plugs so you sleep at night!
