We also had the upper part mostly to ourselves, which was nice. The lower area seems to have more seasonal campers and is where the bathrooms, laundry and office are. We thought the grounds where gorgeous and definitely enjoyed the fall colors. Loved hearing the creek outside. The road to/from is winding and narrow, but we had no problem with our 40’ RV and tow car. You just need to go slow. If you aren’t used to driving a bigger rig, it may seem daunting. There is only one scary, blind curve, but luckily there wasn’t any traffic either time. Roads are well maintained. We would definitely come here again.
Used to be a wonderful place to camp

Their prices have gone up and its not worth it. In addition to RV sites going up (which i can understand going up a little) they now charge $10 per night per extra vehicle, $10 per night per extra person, $10 for a tent to put on with your RV and if you put a tent on your RV site adults may not sleep in it, only children under 16 are allowed to. The playground is outdated, needs improvement, the pond area has grass growing where there used to be a nice sand beach like area, the pool is only good thing. Its too bad because we truly loved camping there so did my grandchildren, but theres no way we will be going back to Middle Creek. Ridiculous prices.
Lots of AT-ers and full timers

We liked this little campground back in the forest for the creek running right outside our front door. Great river access right down the road, close to hikes off of the Blue Ridge Parkway and they have karaoke on Saturday nights! Wifi worked well for us at the camp office.
Excellent out-of-the-way stay

Larger 5th wheels and motorhomes should use caution negotiating this road. Luckily, we encountered no traffic coming the other direction. Lots of hiking opportunities were noticed along the way. Very beautiful area, especially in the fall. Once we arrived, we went into the camp office/store and were met with a friendly greeting. As we were staying Monday and Tuesday, a full hookup site was only $30/night. We were given choice of open spaces and selected #18, a back-in spot abutting the creek, and near some of the seasonal campsites. There were a number of pull-through sites available as well. Sites were gravel but quite level. Very quiet place. There is a basketball hoop and playground, and many atv trails nearby, so it may be a busier place during the summer. The comfort station was older, but very well kept. Wifi worked well, through satellite, so there is noticeable latency. AT&T service was unavailable at our site( even with our Wilson repeater,) but we had 2 bars if we walked up by the pool. Incidentally, the pool looked immacculate.
Not What I expected from the Website!

I called and made reservations, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The ride from the highway to the campground was a roller coaster, and the final mile into the campground I will not recommend big rigs, or anything larger than 25 feet to come up this road. Our coach is a 32 footer, and I had trouble staying on one side of the road without hitting tree branches, and/or an coming car. The place looked dirty, the creek that runs through the campground is filled with broken slabs of concrete, and garbage. Half of the campground has permanent trailers, and locals who have parties to late hours of the night. There is a pool, a fishing lake, and swimming lake. The sites are not leveled, very close to each other, with no sewer, only Dump Station. Very expensive for not having full hook-up, and the Wi-Fi is non existent, even near the office. Lots of bugs! Gnats and flies. The bathrooms were old, and of much needed TLC. Other than that, it can be an emergency stay place! Or for those hiking the Appalachian Trail very close to the trail. The phone service not to good, sorry we did not take any photos.
