Great place, quite nice road noise. I worked here and cell service was good. The sites are level and they had propane, washer and dryer. Walmart is about 30 min and Lynchburg is about 45 min away. Spot #1 and #2 are the nicer of them all. The owners are great and friendly.

  • You absolutely HAVE to get Site #1

It is a converted chicken farm and family owned and operated. The hospitality offered by the owner and the staff was second to none. When you first see the campground from the road you might not think too much of it, but once on the immaculately kept grounds you won't be disappointed. All of the sites are gravel pull thrus and are mostly level and long enough for any sized rig and tow vehicle or toad. The sites are fairly close together. There is a bath house with a separate bathroom and shower in addition to a washer and dryer. Nothing really here in the way of amenities such as shuffleboard, a pool, or clubhouse. There is a small pond where you can fish if you'd like and a gathering area with chairs, tables and a fire pit. There are several cabins on site as well. It appears most of the campers here are longer term, but the sites were clutter free and the campground was very peaceful and quiet. Full hook ups (most with 50 amp) at every site. The tiny town of Altamont is about 5 miles away where there is limited services, though there is a convenience store with gas and diesel. A Dollar General market is about a half mile outside of town. Lots of great hiking and waterfalls in the area and the Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg is about an hour's drive away and would be a nice day trip. While a stay in any site here would be good, we had the amazing good fortune for the owner to tell me upon arrival that we would be in site #1 which he said is "the best in the park." He was not kidding!! It is the furthest site to the north at the end of the first loop as you enter the park. There is no site outside your door and the view is simply stunning. I know where the name for this park comes from. Not so sure you would be able to have this view from your patio in any other site. It was simply fabulous just to sit out and enjoy the view.

Wonderful family run campground with a ‘Grand View’ of the mountains. We have stayed here several times in the last few years and always have an awesome experience. 20 pull thru sites with 30/50 amp service, water, and sewer. Free wifi is also available.
